Description

This multilevel class is safe for and accessible to beginners, and just right for intermediates. Three of Fonda's able and motivating instructors teach the 45-minute step class. Half the room does lower-intensity moves; the other uses higher steps and higher-intensity techniques. The teaching technique is excellent: a pattern is taught on the floor before taking it up on the step. One participant does the routines totally without the step to guide beginners or others who don't feel comfortable using the step. The patterns never get very complex, but they are varied enough to keep you interested and energized, and you can adjust your step height to make the workout harder if you wish. The instructors cue seamlessly. Fonda herself teaches the 10-minute abdominal segment, with enough variations of the standard crunch to keep your abs contracting and your mind engaged. --Joan Price

Still LoVe it after all these Years!

I still have a couple of Jane's Step Videos on VHS. Always loved and enjoyed this routine and alternated it with Cher's New Attitude Fitness for many years. It's absolutely timeless and I hope that it makes it to DVD at some point. I see that a couple of Jane's exercise videos are already on DVD so I think it's very possible that this will be as well. I don't use the old VHS tapes often but just every once in a while I will dig it out and put it in the VHS/DVD combo unit. It will get you in shape quickly and it's well cued by the instructors. I have lots of newer exercise DVD's by some of the young & younger instructors. I have several by Cathy Friech; she's highly energetic & I find her step routines are definitely high-impact and very hard on my knees. Yes, she's very good and extremely popular but I can't keep up even if I simplify her moves & that's A-OK with me. I don't want to hurt and have aching knees for a week & I'm not into the fancy dancy routines. I prefer a no non-sense video that's effective and FUN. With Jane's instructors, there are no fancy one-legged mambos or pirouettes or flying across the room movements and that suits me and my needs. I prefer tried, true and less complicated. If something works and it's fun...well....I'm all for it! So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this goes to DVD; I will be first to buy it.


Amazing and Awesome!

This is the video that got me into step aerobics! It was my mom's and I began using it when I was in middle school. The steps aren't horribly difficult but certainly work and the ab workout is AMAZING! It may be a flashback to an earlier time, but this is the BEST step aerobics video I have yet to see. 5 stars all the way!

A classic!

I started this routine shortly after it came out. I still use it today. I know most of the words by heart and can use the routine with my mp3 player - no video.
I like the variety in the class, the change of the music, and the change of instuctors. I have to admit, when I'm pressed for time, I skip the warm up and cool down, and only sometimes do the ab part, but the aerobic part of this video is very productive without making anyone turn and twist when tired which is so dangerous!
This is my favorite of every workout I have ever tried.

disappointed

This is not at all what I remember. I had the LP of, supposedly, this workout. It came with a book showing the exercises and I did it daily for a couple years. I thought this was the same workout done on video. Not even the music is familiar. The exercises are so fast I hardly think they would recommended them these days. I have quite a few Jane Fonda workout tapes and have enjoyed them all. This is not what I remember and I'm sorry I wasted my money on it.

Poor Quality Video - Disappointing

The quality of this video is quite poor. The light levels or contrast are so high that the images are not sharp. I guess I could adjust my television settings, but I don't think in this day and age with technology as advanced as it is, that I should have to do that just to get it right!

The workout itself is not bad, but I prefer the step aerobic tape. This one has too many segments so that you have to rewind and forward for different ones. If it were on DVD it would be fine.


Good for beginners only.

I used this workout when I was a beginner excerciser, and it was very challenging! But, now I consider myself at a high intermediate level, I pulled this one out of the collection, and the weights, and the push-ups, and the lower body work are too short and are not a challenge, the aerobics will make you break a sweat, and raise your heart rate. But not much of a challenge. So overally this video is for beginners only, if you are not a begginer, but want weight work, try Jane Fonda's Toning and Shaping/Workout with Weights video, and alternate it with a video with more challenging aerobics such as the Lean Routine, which has an hour of aerobics with the option of High or Low impact or the New workout, which has 12/16 minutes of aerobics that is very very high impact.


SOOO FUNN!!

ooh i love the cardio part of this video! its just soo fun, and even if you really really dont feel like working out, the 35 min will fly by so fast! its fast paced and you dont repeat any of the moves too many times, so you have no time to get bored.

however, i only gave it 3 stars because i dont like the weight and leg section. it was too slow and boring and the moves are not fresh: they are just plain moves you see everywhere (lunges, bicep curls..)


Good Workout Great Value

This is a really good workout for your lighter days, but do not be mistaken it is still a challenge. This video has a weights segment, aerobics segment, toning and streching. I have read other reviews that said this video was not a good workout. They are wrong! You simply have to take your personal intensity up a notch. For example use hand weights in the aerobic section, and increase your speed while jumping higher. There are two groups in the class a slower pace group and faster pace group. Follow the group that best suits you. This is a great all around workout that lasts about an hour. I would do the whole video to get a better burn. And take the costumes and music with a grain of salt. I would rather do a video with average looking people in dated clothes than some of these newer videos with uber fit perfect people in them. Give this video a chance it is worth it.

I bought this DVD years ago and have "done it to death". It's always great to have Jane in the living room and work out with her and her friends. I have learned to modify some parts as my body is not perfect and I have had surgery on my spine in the last few years. I have tried the gym and walking but still come back to Jane as my favourite. I have recently bought her latest DVD for abs, buns and thighs and appreciate having a new DVD again. I am now 64 years old and Jane still makes my life more enjoyable with her fitness regime.

I just started working out again after being lazy and sedentary for TOO many years. I was excited to find that you could still purchase the Jane Fonda workout collection. It does the job in a fun and enjoyable manner. Some things never change...and what works to get one in shape hasn't changed that much. Even though the gals' hair and such look a tad bit out of date (haha), the girls still look FANTASTIC!! Excellent price for the collection. MG in Oklahoma

As any Fondette (A follower of Jane Fonda Aerobics) or fitness enthusiast will tell you, one of the hardest things is to maintain your fitness program whilst on the move. Now, thanks to Jane Fonda's Complete Workout CD, you can just bring your CD diskman where ever you go and play! What is so great about this workout?Jane has taken her most popular workout (to this day it is still popular) and modified it for using in different than normal places (small spaces) It comes with a poster so you can follow along. You can still burn alot of pounds with this, just like the visual verson. A must!

JF Workout Continues to Hold Its Own

I first used this workout program, using only the book, when it first came out in the 1980s. (I used a Michael Jackson LP for the music!) Like another reviewer, I also am 54 and would get up at 5am to do this workout before heading for the commuter train to work. I was also then taking dance classes, and was immediately struck (and reassured) by some of the similarities between the JF workout and a dance class warm-up. Fast forward to today -- weight work, cardio, and Iyangar yoga make up my workout week. But today, for the first time, I took a mat Pilates class at the gym, which made me think of the JF workout. Unfortunately, I got rid of my original book many years ago when we moved, but I plan to buy it again soon! I have realized that it's truly timeless.

I first got this book, along with the audio tape, when I was 21. I'm 54 now. Jane did a lot of things in her life I do not support, however, this book I definately do. At the time of my life, it's historical. She actually gave me the courage to be myself, use my own energy, etc, etc. I'd get up each morning at 5:00 a.m. and listen to the audio tape and do the workout and then go to work and it literally saved my life. I lost 50 pounds and have never regained it, even after having two children. Her dicussion of Katherine Hepburn was certainly inspirational. Just decide you're worth it and you'll be happy you bought the book and did it! I just hope they re-release the audio as well as the book. I have very serene memories of working out to "Wasting Away Again in Magaritaville"! Always loved it.


GREAT FITNESS BOOK FOR BODY AND LIFE

I purchased this book based on three things. One I wanted to see an example of Jane Fonda's original 1982 workout(hard to find/expensive). Two I love almost all of JF workouts. Three the one review I read confirmed I needed this for my collection. This is truly a wonderful book I can see why it was a best seller. This book offers information on a wide range of subjects from self-esteem, diet, social and enviromental issues, not to mention the two workouts. This was a great buy.
This book offers a begginer and advanced workout. Each workout begins with warm-up and ends with a cool down. At the begging of each exercise routine there is a list of music that could accompany the exercise. This can be used as a guide to choosing your own music. Both routines have an aerobics, arms, waist, abs, hips and thighs, bottocks. The workouts last about 30-45 for beginner and 40-60 mins for advanced. The cardio portion of both workouts are simple but short, however you can easily extend it.
This workout is great for the flexibility it offers. This is a workout that you can truly make your own. You could even do it while you are watching television. One of the things I really liked was making my own music to this workout. Being abel to chose your own music that you enjoy, really keeps you going. This is great if you like to make compilation tapes or cds.
Now I know what your thinking I don't go for exercise books. And for the most part I would agree, with all the page turning reading descriptions and the pictures that make no sense. But this is written and shown in a very clear manner. Over time this should just be a guide. Because you should start to memorize the workout.
This is a great workout if your short on time or you don't feel like going to the gym of even putting a exercise tape in the vcr. This workout out is total body toning. You could even use light hand weights during some of the arm movements for extra work. However some of the movements can be jarring and hard on the joints. Just modify it to fit your own personal needs. If it feels wrong don't do it. If you like this workout I would recommend Jane Fonda's New Workout Book or VHS and Jane Fonda's Women Coming of Age and Jane Fonda's Easy Going Workout.


It still works!

But it isn't. For every move there are professionally taken indepth photographs with descriptions.You really use this book until you remember the moves off by heart. But it's use doesn't stop there as it is jam packed with so much information.And the funny thing is it feels better working out in the absense of a television screen.

Some people love to exercise–they find running meditative, hiking relaxing and spiritual. They go to the gym daily and can’t live without it or faithfully bust out the exercise videos at home….And then there are the rest of us.  “Exercise is boring,” we sigh, “it hurts. I don’t have time. I’d rather be relaxing…”

We know that we must exercise, that our bodies must MOVE, that it is an essential part of being fit and healthy and so we force ourselves into it, find a million ways to trick ourselves into sweating.

There is, however, another way–or more precisely, other ways.  From the wild to the wacky to the just plain common sense fun, here they are–brilliant and crazy ways to fit in fitness without even knowing you are exercising (who knows, you just might learn something hardly anyone else knows!)

Join the Circus: When I was little I dreamed, like many children, of running away with the circus. Now I can. Circus workouts are springing up around the country and exercise physiology studies show that an eight week circus training course can improve overall body strength by up to 20% as well as burn 200-400 calories an hour.  Workouts vary but most are centered around trapeze workouts, which strengthen the core, back, and arms and tightrope walking which tightens the core, legs, and increases balance.  Both also increase flexibility. Along with these fun (and some swear sexy!) tricks, many circus workouts also train the brain and funny bone with juggling, magic tricks, and clown school tips. The workouts are so much fun and such a unique challenge, that you will often forget you are working out.

Hulahooping: In the last few years, classes in the childhood art of hulahooping have become popular. Using weighted hula hoops, the classes mainly work out and chisel the core and hip area but can also get the heartrate up for some fun cardio. There is one catch however–women are typically better hulahoopers than men–our hips are good for more than just child bearing it seems.

Retro-robics: The 80’s are back. And it’s more than just headbands and members only jackets out there–Eighties aerobics and jazzercise have made their own comeback! So if you enjoy bopping around in unitards and legwarmers and dancing to Cyndi Lauper and a Flock of Seagulls, these classes are for you.  Some instructors are faithful to the exercises and others have updated them to be a bit kinder and gentler on joints and muscles, so ask around. And if you have enough friends interested, have your own retrorobics party–A million Jane Fonda tapes are still available on E-bay (I looked). Dress up, break out the Tab and wail out ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ to your hearts content.

Strippercize: Alright, this one steps away from childhood memories a bit. For women who want to workout while learning some sexy skills. There are strip-aerobics, lap-dance oriented workouts, and the challenging but a wee bit dangerous (watch those spike heels ladies!) pole dancing courses for whatever strikes your fancy. Like the more sedate bellydancing, strippercize is great for both cardio and strength training–it works out your abs, back, arms, and legs as well as your machisma muscle. And it can also double as a valuable work skill in these hard economic times!

Unicycling: Often called ‘the best workout available on one wheel’ unicycling is a challenging skill as well as a great workout. It is hard to do and takes intense concentration, which is good for the brain, builds patience, and is great for weight loss,  core strength, and the leg muscles. It also builds stamina and discipline. It helps that unicycling is also relatively inexpensive–the only cost being the machine itself. After that, learning comes from joining a unicycling club (they exist all over the country) and learning from fellow members. The comraderie of this relatively small group is great for the spirit and knowing such a rare skill is always a good ace up the sleeve.

Obstacle Courses: Used in gym class and the military for years, obstacle courses have now evolved to offer fun diversions while providing a whole body workout–rope walls and hurdles work out core muscles, climbing walls work on the arms, back, core, and endurance, cones and tires provide training in agility and cardio–all the while providing a challenge that is really fun. Creating your own obstacle course is easy as well–plan a jog past a playground and use the jungle gym or bicycle to a park and use your natural surroundings to test your agility.

Are you currently trying to lose weight or perhaps you just want to get into a little bit better shape?  If so, then you are undoubtedly starting to incorporate fitness into your life or else you are making efforts to ramp up your workouts.  Like many women out there, you probably put a pretty fair amount of time and energy into trying to look your best.  With so many great workout clothes and accessories on the market today, why not look your best during your workouts too?

Sure you could just throw on a baggy sweatshirt and sweatpants and have that serve as your workout gear.  However, if you are at all interested in catching that cute guy's eye from across the crowded gym, I would definitely suggest that you put on something a little more attractive.  For example, a pair of fitted yoga pants and a cute tank top are every bit as comfortable to exercise in as just as easy to throw on as the aforementioned baggy sweatshirt and sweatpants look.  However, the yoga pants and tank top are a much more attractive combination!  Also, yoga pants and a tank top are often made from materials that are much more lightweight and breathable than sweatpants material.  Therefore, dressing in the yoga pants and tank top is not only a more attractive look, but it will also help prevent you from getting overheated which will in turn enable you to have a more productive workout!

Another way of raising your fitness fashion quotient is by paying close attention to the bag you use to carry your workout gear to the gym.  Is it starting to look old and is maybe even getting to be a bit tattered and torn?  Perhaps it is still in pretty good shape, but looks like it is straight out of the 80's.  If so, it is probably a good idea to upgrade to a new, more stylish bag.  There are many great ones to choose from nowadays from top brands such as Nike and Reebok, just to name a few.

Also, as I'm sure you know, many of us women enjoy listening to our MP3 players while working at the gym.  So, yet another way to look your best at the gym is by using a stylish MP3 player skin.  For those of you who may not be familiar with MP3 player skins, they are like little sleeves that you slip on over your MP3 player both to help protect it and to give it a really cute look.   There are a lot of really stylish skins such as zebra or leopard print available to choose from on the market today, and other people at the gym are sure to notice and admire yours.

This is a very solid piece of kids equipment.. No plastic parts here. The frame is made of real metal, and is extremely sturdy and well built.
Its like a real miniature workout bench! I do wish the bench was adjustable, but its no big deal.
My son is only 2 1/2 so its perfect for him, but I can see it being a little small for bigger kinds.

But well worth the price.. I highly recommend!

I bought this for my nephew(he is almost 4) for Christmas. He likes to try and workout with me, so I thought he would like this. It was the first thing he ran to Christmas morning. I agree with the review on using this for children 5 years or younger(maybe 6).


Great - but for smaller kids

This kids weight bench is great on many levels. I take my 6 year old son to the gym's "kids club" several times a week and he often wants to go to the workout area to "exercise like Daddy does." This bench is a fantastic way to stress the importance of exercise and health at a young age and, from what I can tell, there are no other products like it. However, I had to return it because it was too small. The box says it's good for kids up to 7 but my son is 6 and it's already way too small for him. He's a big bigger than normal but not an extremely large child. I would recommend this only for 5 year olds and younger. Too bad, they should make it a bit larger. I could see a larger version of something like this being useful until a child is maybe 10 years old (if it had the option of using real weights).

GREAT value

As with any exercise product (especially those shown in informercials late at night when you're gorging on Doritos and thinking it would be nice to have a six-pack....... abs or beer...), it's completely worthless unless you choose to change your lifestyle and commit to the program. But if you're willing to take it seriously, you can't beat P90X.

Not only does the program come complete with specific nutrition information, a variety of workouts and an interactive website, but Tony Horton is always saying "Do your best and forget the rest" and reassuring you that even if you can't do the current workout now, you'll be able to do it in a few weeks if you stick with it. And he's right. Strength and endurance grows very quickly and if you follow the diet plan, you'll see results quickly.

I pause to mention that I started P90X over a summer where I could eat for free at work and so did NOT, in fact, follow the diet guide. Consequently, I didn't see the results that many people post online. HOWEVER, as a test, it was a success. Why? Because even though I wasn't as streamlined as I could/should have been, I've seen HUGE leaps in my strength and endurance and definite change in my physique. So using the diet guide correctly, you should see amazing results.

The workouts are TOUGH and some are LONG (an hour and a half of Yoga), especially if you're relatively new to working out. Most likely, you won't be able to hang with some of them all the way through even after two months - but this is a great motivator, as long as you don't let it get you down! There are two camps about Tony Horton's training style - you either love how corny he is or he gets annoying quickly. Either way, his motivation far outweighs whatever you may think of his style and the handy time bar and visual prompts for each exercise make it easy to follow what's going on should you wish to use your own music mix and turn down the video volume.

Another great motivator, by the way, is the included DVD "How To Bring It" where Tony shows you a short version of how the whole system works and gets you excited about doing the program. On days when I truly did NOT want to exercise, I'd force myself to watch this DVD and a bunch of the P90X Results videos posted on YouTube for inspiration. It never failed.

I HIGHLY suggest purchasing an array of weighted exercise bands at the same time you purchase P90X. They're mandatory unless you already own or plan to buy both a pull-up bar and a full set of dumbells. You won't be able to do the program unless you have these.

The website is great for not only planning and recording your workouts (which is a great motivator) but for connecting with other people using the program and getting answers to questions you may have. There is an additional fee to use some of the online things, but you can set up a profile and do many helpful things for free.

I never thought I'd work out at home and I certainly never thought I'd use an exercise video. But if you commit to pressing play every day, you quickly find that the workouts are so engaging (and sometimes so difficult) that your brain goes on autopilot and you put all your energy into the workout instead of wandering around a gym waiting for a bench to open up or trying to remember what comes next in your routine. Well worth it.

DVD's unplayable or skip - Seller unresponsive

I wanted these DVD's for a long time and finally the price was right. Free shipping and speedy delivery was a bonus. The problem was with the quality of the disks. Everyone of them are scratched from the way they are packaged I suspect. They come in a wallet. The sleeves are made of some type of construction paper.

Once I made the commitment to start the program I discovered the effects of the scratches... skips and freezing. I am still on phase one, 6 disks and 2 of them are faulty. I have attempted to contact this seller Five Times without a response. The P90X program, price and speed of delivery gets a 5, the sellers customer service, response to your issues and quality of merchandise gets a zero.

Purchase from this seller at your own risk. If you're lucky enough to get disks that play, you'll be very happy with your purchase and savings.

Note: Don't even try to read the user guide, you'll drive yourself nuts with all the typo's. I'm not just talking about a few... there are hundreds.

Let me preface my review by saying that I've never stepped foot in a gym or lifted a weight in my life before I started using Beachbody products. I am 5'10" and was 225 lbs and had zero definition when I started (obese bmi...). I read the reviews here and started with Power 90 on Jan 3rd, 2010. All you need for that one is dumbbells or bands. I lost 40 pounds. Power 90 is pretty short and includes stretching and cool down, which was very appealing to me. It was basically two workouts you alternate for the first 45 days, and two more slightly more intense ones for the last 45 days. I also think Tony Horton is good at motivating.

Power 90 was a great prep for p90x, after 90 days of power 90 I was able to get into p90x. Granted I couldn't do many pull ups when I started p90x but I can now that I've done it a while. Goals. Download and fill out the sheets in p90x. Track your progress.

For p90x, I needed a pull up bar (or bands), and I got a yoga block (highly recommended!) and pad too (and have since gotten some mats for plyo), I lost 20 pounds. Much more intense than Power 90, longer and more varied. I was only able to do 1 pull up when I started, I was able to do 10 by the end of the first round and can do 12 or so now. Yoga is the longest at 90 minutes, if I don't have 90 minutes I only do the first half, it is split between 45 minutes of Ashtunga Yoga - Sun Salutations and Vinyasas - and 45 minutes of poses. I do the stretch about half of the time, the other half I take the "rest" option, heh. I usually do abs for 20 minutes (see below) during my lunch hour at work. Just do your best and forget the rest :p

I'm currently on second round and have lost another 10 pounds. I read about combining the Ab Ripper 200 from Power 90 with 20 reps each (instead of the usual 25) of Ab Ripper X, so I tried that and like it and do it instead of Ab Ripper X. I also heard a lot people combine two of the cardio routines from Beachbody's Insanity program with three days of p90x resistance (plus Yoga and Stretch) to mix it up a bit. I really like the yoga, I try and do the 10 minutes of Yoga on the Cardio X routine every mourning (I haven't done doubles, which supplements another cardio routine into the mix, increasing the frequency according to the diet plan).

I followed the diet plan for both Power 90 (calorie deficit) and for p90x. I prefer the portion plan and have never used any of the recipes in the nutrition guides, although I may check out the salad dressings. The only Beachbody supplement I take is the recovery drink.

Bottom line, I was fat and now I'm not. I've lost 70 pounds and am 15% body fat, working towards single digits. I am great shape and feel great, all thanks to Beachbody. It works. If you aren't already fit enough to get through Power 90, than I recommend starting there instead of getting right into p90x, Power 90 doesn't cost as much plus you don't need to purchase a pull up bar or yoga block. I would recommend a set of the adjustable dumbbells that you can continue to use them in p90x. If you like Power 90 and/or max it out (or are already fit) you can "upgrade" from Power 90 to p90x, adding a pull up bar and a yoga block/pad to go along with the dumbbells.

These workouts are tough, and they will get you in shape. Some of the moves on the yoga DVD are advanced and should not be done by beginners. You don't need a lot of fancy equipment, but you really have to be dedicated. Tony is entertaining to watch.

i've been a runner for over 10 years, and wanted to add a little core and upper body strength for a change during this past winter, as i was mostly confined indoors. i have to be honest that i was already in pretty good shape, i'm not an ultra marathoner but would do a 15 mile run about once a week or every other week. this program was horribly tough. as a woman, my body actually skipped a cycle while i was doing it. now that i've finished and eased up on it (use it mainly for maintenance purposes), my body has resumed its normal pre Shaun T cycles.

the most difference i've seen is definitely in my upper arms/shoulders area. coincidentally i was away from my husband for a few months while following this program for work reasons. when he saw me he was actually taken aback and told me that my shoulders and upper arms are really pronounced. i guess i couldn't tell the difference; i saw myself every day. but he has since been inspired to be a Shaun T fan.


Best Workout Ever!!!

"Insane" is an understatement when it comes to describe this workout. Get ready to sweat and work every part of your body!!! First week is the hardest because you will be really sore. I do recommend the recovery drink after the workout. It does help with the sore muscles and you will feel better the next day after the workout. Shaun T will keep you motivated. Insanity is never boring! This workout will push you to the limit, but it will absolutely get you in good shape. "Dig deeper" people!!!!!

No, I was not in awesome or even great shape when I started this, like most people who seem into this workout. And I should mention I am only on Week 3, but the results are AMAZING, already.
What I love about INSANITY is that I really feel like I have accomplished something at the end of each workout. I see the results in my body (I take a photo of myself at the beginning of each week as a reminder).
The important things to know are: 1) it's okay to modify the exercise (assuming you are familiar with the techniques) if you don't quite have the physical strength yet, 2) knowing some good breathing techniques will help you immensely, because this will really push you to the limit, 3) Go at your own pace, because whatever it is, it will still give you results, 4)you absolutely must be good to your body...no hard landings.
I see the most dramatic change so far in my core. Everything is stronger, tighter. I think you need to be able to do a boot camp style workout in order to be able to do this successfully. I took one at my local gym before starting this and I am really glad I did because this is way more intense.
In addition to the physical changes, I have to say there is an emotional boost to doing this. I feel awesome about how much I have improved already, and just how I am doing something that makes me really sweat.
My only, paltry gripe is that I wish the meal plan had some on the go style options, because I am a grad student and I have to eat on the go a lot.

This Ain't No Dance Video

Open the asylum. Shaun T's Insanity from Beachbody provides one of the most grueling cardio programs available. Shaun T. enjoys great popularity with his body shaping dance videos. Insanity is something altogether different. Hear me, this is not a weight loss program and it is NOT designed for the sedentary. Insanity's 60 day program builds endurance and strength for the serious athlete or the exercise enthusiast.

The good news is once you buy the DVDs you do not need to purchase anything more to successfully complete the routines. A nutrition guide comes with program. I highly recommend you follow it to achieve maximum results. Other suggestions include: wear a good pair of cross trainer shoes, use an exercise mat and work out in a place where you can sweat profusely, as you will perspire like rain during the daily exercises.

I've been reading reviews of the Insanity program from various sources. It's clear to me that like many things in life, you get what you put into it. I took a lot away from the 60 day challenge. I found this to be as mentally and physically challenging as anything I've ever encountered. Physically, I am now at a personal peak. Furthermore, I improved on my Fit Test at each two week interval and made significant gains from beginning to end.

It wasn't a joy ride, though. I sustained minor injuries to my toe, hand, and wrist, as well as irritating my right knee. So many times I wanted to stop, not just the program overall, but actually stop mid-exercise. I wanted to throw up my hands and scream, "Why am I torturing myself?" Honestly, I can't tell you how I found the will in those moments to "dig deeper," but somehow I did. However, I can unequivocally tell you I am thrilled I did. Now, not only do I feel good, but I know there is something inside of me that can go further and push harder.

Fun,easy to follow, and definitely works your abs! The vocals should be louder. I found it is difficult to hear the steps being called. The cardio routine is a good work out. If you are putting forth the effort, you will be sweating. I would recommend this package to someone who is interested in working out at home and wants to concentrate on the abs. This is the best workout I have ever done. I started using this tape to burn off some of this baby fat, my son left on me. It was hard at first because I hate excercise. She worked every area and the pounds just started falling off. I cut out my salt intake and increased my water intake and I could not believe the results. I would definately recommend this workout

This mix is overly clumpy. Which makes it a pain in the ass to mix by shaking (and who keeps a blender in their gym bag?).

It is also overpriced in comparison to Ultragen RS-Recovery which mixes and digests much more easily.

Buy the Ultragen, save money and get a better product.


Worth the money, without a doubt

My primary concern about buying the recovery drink was price. "Why pay that much for drink powder?" I foolishly asked myself.

Bottom line, it tastes great, is actually very good value for a month supply, and most importantly WORKS!

Among other important ingredients and amino acids, this powder contains 2 CRITICAL ingredients: Creatine and Potassium. Potassium helps your body break down lactic acid and reduces soreness after hard workouts (which you get with P90X), and Creatine helps your muscles recover more quickly after workouts so you can work harder during the next workout.

Summary: This recovery drink will keep you from suffering after your hard workouts by allowing your body to recover quickly without soreness. Also, it tastes great. The price is actually very reasonable for what it does. And ~$50 a month isn't really a huge cost, IMO.


Taste Just Like a Dreamcicle Ice Cream on a Stick

Being a woman and not use to doing P90X I really wasn't looking forward to drinking anything that was nasty tasting after the hard workout that Tony Horton puts you through. My husband and I both do the work out together and have our after exercise drink afterwards. Neither of us can't wait to drink it. To be honest I would drink this as a treat. I put 12oz. of water into a plastic measuring cup and place it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before time to get the water really cold. I take out of freezer and dump 2 scoop fulls of mix into the water/ice and put the head of the Wolf Gang Puck Bistro blender down into the cup of water and blend until all the powder is disolved which isn't too long. I make sure the blender is set on low so the water doesn't come flying out of the cup. Next I pour the liquid mix into the round container and put the top on and attach the blender to that and turn things up to high and I run it until everything is frothy. I've used a few ice cubes a couple of times but this make more of a milkshake thickness which when your hot you just want to drink down the liquid not sip on it. The lightness and cool taste is perfect for rewarding a hard workout. I've heard horror stories about health drinks but this one doesn't come close to being nasty tasting. Now I have to say this I asked my physical therapist about the drink because I went on a diet and he said that carbohydrate to protein is too high and the high sugar content was too high. Also it has simple sugars which he said was very bad for you. OTHER than that :( it seemed to be good for you. I know that it defintely helped in keeping the soreness down and for me that was a big factor and of course with all that sugar content you can count on having a needed pickup afterwards. My husband loves it as much as I do and even though its around $50 a tub we feel it's worth it. I'm not drinking it now because of the sugar and I really miss it!

I bought the GNC Version of the recovery drink, and found the tastes wasn't that great. SO i went and bought the p90x recovery drink, and was hoping for a better taste. It tastes like a bad Creamsicle.
I can barley drink it. I have to plug my nose to get it down.
If you aren't a fan of citrus shakes, then I don't recommend this drink. I know that when I run out, I'm going back to GNC. I do recommend taking the recovery drink, as it helps you body recover. I forgot to take it one day and I was really sore the next morning.

This is a geat workout! But be aware all you Turbo Jamers, this is much more difficult then any of the other DVD's. I can pretty much breeze through the other DVD's, while this one left me panting and sore. Of course, this is a good thing!

What I really like about this DVD is that it is so different from the other Turbo Jam workouts. I really like Turbo Jam, but Jamers know that each DVD is pretty much the same; same movements just changed up a bit. Also, sometimes I feel that each section is just a little too repetitive. Not so with this DVD. This was a refreshing change. I like it!


Turgo Jam Total Body Blast

I just recently received this DVD did the workout and I can't believe I paid 42.99 for this, anybody know why this one was so expensive compared to her other workouts. I did break a sweat, probabley will do it again. I am big fan of her other DVD,s, I own 3 others. Maybey I expected so much more for the price I paid, I guess I feel ripped off, this one is not as fun to do. I would not recommend this DVD especially for the price you pay.

I own most of the Turbo Jam videos, and today I did Total Body Blast for the first time and it was AMAZING! I love all of Chalene's videos, but this is the only one so far that has actually left my arms and shoulders feeling sore! I would have never known that a ball would make me work out even more than the weights! It's a longer workout, 60 minutes, but definitely worth every second!!! The entire 60 minutes are in intervals mixing cardio and abs, using the ball in every section, from warm-up to cool down!

Love it!!!!

This workout is really great! I love how she works the ball in, some cardio, then ball work, back and forth. It is a 60 minute DVD, but really doesn't seem like it! It is a must to your Chalene Johnson collection. I wish she would do more DVD's with the ball. The ball gives you a really good workout! The music is good. This is another one that I include in my favs. You will want to add it to your collection.

This is the hardest and most intense of the turbo jam DVDs i love this video it is way better than the other ball DVD because you use it the who time i definitely recommend this video you will get an incredible work out! It sculpts the shoulders and the abs with some lunges as well.

Does smell of chemicals when you take it out of the box but it disapates by the time you're ready to use it. It is somewaht sturdy but I've seen better.
The 20 exercise booklet is retarded.
Assembly was cake.
Overall, not a bad purchase but I have used better similar products.

I am a little concerned about any damage it might do to the door I have it in considering I live in an apartment.

Also, it is very bulky compared to similar products.


you get what you pay for

Putting it together was a little tricky, as you have to make sure that when you tighten the screws, someparts dont go crooked (as that might make the bar not level on the doorway). While it is sturdy and safe to use, I didn't know if my doorway could take this much pressure so I stopped using it. But i did notice some scuff marks from the handle bars on the outside edges of the doorframe, so if you use it, you might want to put a towel or something there in between to avoid this.

This pull up bar for the door was easy to put together.
It fits the doors in my house well but if you have trim that is made of soft wood, such as pine, it will mark and dent.
There is something off on the machining of the parts. While my doorway is level, when the bar is in place, the bar itself is off kilter.
You can still do a pull up but it should not have this defect. So while you will get a pullup done, you may want to consider one of the other door bars for sale.


P90X'ers, this bar works.

If your are going to do P90X, you may consider the 7 position pull up bar from Beach Body for $60 or $70. Don't bother, buy this one. I completed P90X and am now doing P90X Plus and this bar is still going strong. Save some $ and don't forget to Bring It! every day! Good luck with your fitness goals.

Excellent HR Monitor Watch

I am really pleased with this HR monitor watch. Being a woman, I wanted something sturdy yet not so big it dominated my arm. This fits the bill - very adjustable size wize (both the watch and the chest strap). I am average height, but carry most of my weight in my stomach. The chest strap fits very comfortably to me, and the new feature of being able to simply wet the cloth contacts is great (I was used to the old school hard plastic contacts).

According to the product information, you can actually wash the chest strap in the washer - haven't tried it yet.

Fairly easy to use once you get used to which button controls which feature. Advice - when you are setting the watch up for the first time, have the manual in front of you. I accidentally deleted my settings the first few times.

Using the watch while jogging and walking is very easy - the screen is much easier to read than other products I have tried. I was most interested in tracking heart rate, calories burned, and some basics of how I was working out in the fat burning and fitness zones. This watch does a great job with that - afetr you complete a workout it produces a simple summary of total cals burned, how many minutes you spent in far burn vs fitness, and your average heart rate.

I am sure hard core runners want something more than tracks mileage, but I tried a watch like that and found it too cumbersome. Since I am merely using this for fitness, it works perfectly.

I am 74 years old and had open heart surgery in December of last year and was advised during my cardiac rehab to keep my heart rate under 110. During rehab, I always wore a heart monitor. However, after I got out on my own, I needed a device that would allow me to monitor my heart rate while exercising. The Polar FT4 has worked perfectly. It transmits my heart rate to all of the exercise machines that I use at my health club and allows me to follow my doctors orders. It is a great device and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to monitor their heart rate.

It has worked great from the start. Only two caveats - we ordered a woman's model for my wife, and it came with an XXL strap (the same as what came with mine). This caused problems as it was too big. However, Polar shipped a smaller one immediately upon request. The other complaint I have is that you can not see total time within your aerobic zone while you are in a session. You get that when you stop, but not within the session. So, you can see how long you've been exercising and current heart rate and calories burned, but not time in aerobic zone. The main reason I bought this was to maximize time spent in the zone. It still works, I just have to pay closer attention to when I'm in/out within the workout. I'm not sure if other models provide that view or not.


Exactly what I was looking for

I'm new to heart rate monitors, so I had a lot of searching to do to figure out what I needed from one before I placed my order. I soon found that the Polar brand was the one to get, but they have hundreds of models, ranging from affordable to incredible. I know some will say this model doesn't have it all, but if you're looking for something to keep you informed of your progress in your exercise routine, this is really all you need. Tracking up to 10 sessions worth of data, but also keeping a running total, the watch can tell you how long you worked out, your average heart rate, maximum reached, and time in the zone, and from that, how many calories you burned. It beeps softly at you every 5 seconds or so when you're under the zone, and also tells you when you've exceeded your maximum. The display is really easy to read, even in the middle of vigorous training session. The watch in comfortable and easy to clean, as is the chest strap, which is fully adjustable. I have no complaints at all, and for the price, I'm extremely pleased. I only wish there was a way to download the training files from the watch to my computer, but a spreadsheet also works just fine.

Nice big numbers for easy reading even in the dim light of a morning spin class. I comes with the fabric chest strap that is a little more comfortable than the standard hard plastic.

Great Little Elliptical!

This elliptical with a small footprint is the perfect choice for anyone living in space-challenged quarters. I assembled it very quickly and without any problems, and so far, I have not experienced problems with balance, jolting or jerkiness while using this machine. Yes, the "stride" is smaller than a gym-sized elliptical, which I expected, but this little machine does give me a good workout. When I'm done, I slide it under the nearby table where it's out of the way. I gave this 4 stars, because the resistance device doesn't work as well as I'd like it to.

Exactly what I was looking for so far

I've only had the item for a few days, so it may still be too soon to be writing a review. I'm writing one nonetheless. Setup of the beast was simpler than any piece of workout equipment I've ever put together. There were only 3 parts to attach; 2 of which used simple L joints to put in place. It took all of 5 minutes. This thing does not seem cheaply put together. It's a beast of a machine that I suspect will last and last. The board is, however making some noise when sliding. But I'm fairly sure a bit of WD-40 will stop that in a heartbeat. As other reviewers have said, I'm slightly disappointed that all of the possible workouts weren't listed on the foldout. But they got most of the basics you'll be using drawn up. Fair warning though: unless you're using this at some of the higher tilts, it's going to take up quite a bit of space. That being said, thus far this seems to be an excellent product at an insanely worthwhile price.


Poor shipping, little instruction

When I received this product all the hardware to put it together was missing. It was so poorly boxed for shipping that it fell apart and I don't blame UPS. They did send me the missing parts but by the time I got them it was too late to return and the cost of shipping it back wasn't worth it.

There are very little instructions on assembling the machine and using the machine. It is very heavy and takes up a lot of floor space when in use. It is very hard to store, awkward to fold up and heavy.

I suggest buying equipment like this at a store where you can see it and try it out.

UPS STINKS!

I had originally ordered this from a different online store over a month ago. Only to be refunded due to it being on backorder so I found it here a bit more but same item and I wanted it. I checked tracking in anticipatation for it to update to "delivered" status only to find it was noted that customer was not at home (duh work week) and another attempt will be made the following day (Hello...still work week) I called amazon and they got a hold of UPS to see if there was another option. Other than me going to pick it up (the thing is 80lbs and I'm a single grandmother). Looks like I will still never see this item in my home. UPS could not find an option for me. Extremely disapointed. Where is FedEx when you need them?
Oh did I mention that the leasing office which accepts and sign for packages is but a few feet away from my APT?

Like it so far.One problem I have noticed is the pulley bumps the glide board and immediately tore the vinyl on the upper corner!Bad design unless you make sure you position it correctly before using. It should have had reinforced corner guards on top of glide board.

Great way to either mix up or supplement your workout

Great book with illustrations of hundreds of exercises. Furthermore if gives you multiple options and techniques so you aren't doing the same thing over and over again. I was doing P90x and actually memorized some the workouts, however I like this book because on the typical breaks on the video. I can maybe do a another type of move that's not part of the program. Even if you don't have weight equipment it tells you common household items you can use. Good investment.


Finally...A Workout That's Not BORING

I recently had foot surgery, and I was on crutches for two and a half months. I found out just HOW out of shape I was. I'm a woman, and like a lot of women, I was doing mainly cardio, not strength training. I have to have surgery on my other foot next fall, so I decided I'm NOT going to get my butt kicked like I did this time, because being on crutches is exhausting. But I also didn't want a "typical woman's workout plan." Most of those are, "Lift a three pound weight three times, then go have a Diet Coke." That won't give me the results I want. So I started looking for a man's workout plan. This book not only has routines that will kick your butt, these exercises and routines are not BORING. There are sections for different types of routines, like just using your body weight, dumbbells, barbells, a pulley system, and fully-equipped exercise stations. There are exercises I've never seen before, which I like. I get tired of the same old trite exercise routines, with exercises I've done before. Yawn. Not with this plan. And there are so many different ways to do the exercises that I know I'll never get bored. The main thing I'm looking for is something I can stay with because I won't get tired of it--and I won't with this. I've already started doing the exercises that I can, because I'm still not fully recovered. But I can't wait to do the whole thing. Very cool book, and I highly recommend it.

This is a very good book esp. for people who work out a lot previously to reading this. It has different variations that you may not have heard of before. The instructions of how to do the workout are pretty plain and assume you already know what you are doing. Lifting without knowing how can lead to extreme shoulder pain and issues

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Beginner's Guide to Fitness". The introduction of the various factors that should be considered was nicely ordered, progressing from the most basic to the more complex, and paralleled my own experiences in working with the Richmond Marathon Training Team in preparation for my first marathon at age 71. I wish that I had read this book before I started my training. It would have made it easier to get this old body back to the necessary amount of strength and endurance necessary to run 26.2 miles. I'm impressed both by the simplicity and the thoroughness of the advice in this book. I'm recommending it to all of my friends!


Looks great on the iPhone!

Oh if only there was a magical machine that could give you a good aerobic and resistance training workout in one!  What a great thing that would be for any fitness enthusiast or anyone concerned about their health overall.  If you're looking for such a machine, then look no further than rowing machines, available at most fitness centers and for home use as well.  Why are they so highly recommended, even with all the other types of fitness equipment out there?

For one thing rowing machines do provide a great aerobic workout, and can be especially preferred for those who can't be on treadmills or elliptical machines for some reason.  As an example those who are seriously overweight often have problems in their knees and ankles when they walk or use an elliptical machine.  Rowing machines mean that you can work out while sitting down!  There is absolutely no impact to this workout, meaning you save your knees, ankles, and hips from the jarring action of walking or running.

You can go at your own pace with rowing machines but make no mistake about it, when you use it vigorously they can really burn the calories.  Some claim that at full resistance and with vigorous use you can burn some 900 calories per hour of use!  They use most of the muscles of the entire upper body so you're getting a great aerobic workout while stretching and toning.

You're also getting a lot of resistance training with rowing machines.  Most models use an adjustable resistance system so that you can add weights at your own pace and convenience.  This means you're building muscle, and the more muscle tone you have, the more calories you burn every minute of every day.

Many types of rowing machines allow you to also use your legs as well as your arms, pushing off as you row, which means you're getting an entire workout.  Some even them as a form of physical therapy as they can work various muscle groups in one exercise and with as much or as little resistance as necessary.

The price run from under $200 to over $1,000 depending on the type of machine and the number of additions you need so you should be able to find one that will fit within your household budget.  They come in a verity of resistance types such as Air, Magnetic, Piston and Water.  The nose level of the machine in use will also have a bearing on the final price.  Machines are available for the very short to the very tall and all sizes in between. 

Rowing machines are also great for the home as they are usually small in size and typically can slide under a bed or fold up flat for easy storage.  This means that there are no more excuses as to why you can't work out, since you have aerobic activity and resistance right in one compact and easy to use piece of equipment!

So...yes, she's wearing a yellow leotard and legwarmers but if you can get past that-WHAT A FANTASTIC WORKOUT! This is a tape(literally, since to my knowledge it was never made into a DVD!) that I go back to whenever I'm in a workout funk. It kicks my butt...every time...regardless of how good or bad my fitness level is because I adjust the amount of weight I can handle at any given time. It is an hour long but it works EVERY SINGLE muscle in that time. The aerobic phases are on the shorter side but the weight training will insure you keep your heart pumping and you WILL always reach muscle failure. The moves are NOT hokey or bouncy and dancelike as you would expect of the time period(ok...so MAYBE a TOTAL of 3 minutes of the 60 are but it provides the entertainment portion of the workout along with all the great outfits and short shorts!!) It's just good, solid constant weight lifting with some aerobics and abs. If you still have a VCR, give it a shot...you'll be sore but you won't regret it. A solid 5 stars...I keep coming back.

I love this Leslie Sansone video! This is exactly what I wanted and didn't find until now- a simple workout to target my upper body with simple tried and true exercises, No barbie dolls in skin tight spandex doing impossible girations that a normal person can't do. BIG RESULTS IN SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME

I do this video 2-3 times a week and find that I get as good a workout as doing almost 45 mins of freeweights. When I am done with this one, I feel my muscles burning. This is the first time I have seen anyone do a set of exercises one at a time and then incorporate them all together. YOu do a set of bicep curls, then lateral raises, overhead raises and tricep kickbacks. Then you do 2 of each all together. It was fun to do them that way. This tape goes really fast and I would recommend it to anyone who is short of time, but want to do some strength training.

No Joke Workout!

This video is AWESOME! I have always wanted to lift weights, but didn't know where to start. This video is a way to get introduced to weight training and get every muscle worked. I used the 5lb weights to start and let me tell you I was sweating within the first 5-10 minutes. I have always just done cardio workouts, so this was completely new to me. I felt more tired after doing this 30 minute workout video than running for 30 minutes. This was money well spent. I highly recommend this dvd!

I appreciated this DVD because I didn't have to think about what to do to get an effective muscle building workout. This DVD offers many options for tailoring the workout to your needs or the amount of time you have. It includes modified versions of some of the exercises for beginners and a choice of active rests (cardio or abs). Kelly is very motivating, but not annoying. My husband started to do the workouts with me and is very impressed with the results (first fitness DVD's he has every wanted to do with me). So, if you are a male, this DVD is appropriate for you, too. You will see results!


Ok video by a great trainer

I bought this video after watching Kelly Coffey-Meyer's Step-Boxing workout DVD which is absolutely fantastic. I love her style, no-nonsense, no hullabaloo, solid exercises performed well and coached well. Her style seems pretty spartan-no thrills no frills- and I love that about her. This particular video is also simple and clearly performed. The editing leaves a lot to be desired, in my opinion. There are several options (or mixes) to customize your workout, two main workout choices (legs, chest, and back; or biceps, triceps, shoulders) coupled with different "active rest periods" (low-impact cardio or abdominal work). Again, the exercises are simple and to the point. The editing of the mixes, though, doesn't give enough time to go from lying on the floor doing ab work to standing up and holding 15 lb dumbbells for the next set, so I'm always rushing those transitions. Also, the leg workout is not very challenging at all, though I guess you could always increase the weight and be challenged that way, still, I liked that part of the workout the least out of this DVD, and it was the part I was looking forward to the most. Overall, though, Coffey-Meyer's great, talks you through each exercise directly, succinctly, and just exudes motivation. I'd love to own another step-boxing DVD of hers, and I'll still check out her other stuff.


Great DVD

I like this DVD because it is short and sweet. I have 15 hour days so I can not fit in more than 30 minutes of working out a day and this video allows me to get a good workout in without spending hours.

To make this video a real sweat, when I have a day off, I do a 30 minute run before this video and then I can REALLY feel my workout at the end and am sweating like crazy.

While the video is great if one only has a short amount of time in their day, if you have more time to devote to fitness I would recommend doing an extra mini cardio session (10-30 minutes) before the video to get a real sweat in.


Great BANG for your BUCK

I've rented/bought quite a few strength training dvd's and so far this is my favorite. My challenge with finding a great strength video is most run 50-60 minutes long and I just don't have that time. I've been looking for something that not only challenges me physically, but that I can get more "bang for my buck" and get done in 30 minutes or less. This is it! The moves are challenging, Kelly is straight to the point (and not the least annoying), and I always walk away feeling like I got a GREAT workout. What I like most about this dvd are the variety of workouts you can choose from (even a full body 30 minute one!). Its a great way to change it up! Although, I must say, my personal favorite is the original workout with the "core" active rest (I feel this one the most the next day!).

I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a quick, intense workout!

Good but Not For Me

I thought this DVD was well put together. There are a lot of different workouts on it and you can select and combine them as you want. It is good if you are wanting to switch your workout like your supposed to do after 6 weeks to keep losing weight. I did drop lbs with this as other kettle bells workouts. The routines are kinda silent except for breathing. I did buy this based on other customer reviews. The only thing is the workouts are jerky. They are hard on your joints. I really prefer a smooth flowing action from move to move. There are a few softer moves but mostly all the moves are more like a mans heavy weight lift drill. I did like it when I first got it because of all the variety but after a couple of weeks I wasn't really enjoying it. There are very few exercises I really like. Kettle bell is one of those but the presentation has to be right. I really liked the DVD that came with my Bally kettle bell. So I searched for one similar to that and found Kettlenetics. It's smooth and flowing dance types moves that are motivating and kinda fun. And it is a workout! It has got me toned and makes it easy to workout and loose weight. I know a lot of women will really like the Goddess Workout but it's just not for me.


Basic but creepy

This was my first exposure to a kettlebell workout. While it does a good job of teaching kettlebell basics, it gave me the creeps. The instructor's informative but awkward. And speaking of awkward, one of the other women in the video is incredibly focused which comes off as odd and creepy. Home workout videos are something that are watched over and over again. I can only do this video every now and then because these women are all peculiar.

This is an awesome get started DVD. I do wish they had more of a section on how to pick out your first kettlebell and also how to prevent slippage while using the kettlebell.
I did like the fact that there was no cheesy music to accompany the workout so I can just throw my own music on that I want.
I kinda' wish that the choose your own workout option had a way to program a workout instead of having to flip through the menus to pick and choose which workouts to do.
Other wise, an awesome workout that will give you great results. :)

Good yoga, poor production quality

The DVD production did not meet my expectations. It was shot in a very bare and stark room; the quality was poor; and the selection of routines on the main menu was limited to two. I did not have the three 20-minute sections mentioned on the back of the DVD cover, nor did I have the access to the new triple screen format mentioned.

At the same time, I enjoyed the yoga routine on this DVD - it was varied, energetic and included a large amount of abdominal work.


Sadie Rocks!

I first found Sadie through YouTube and being a yoga teacher myself I didn't feel it was fair to only take the free teachings! So I wanted to support her efforts and bought both dvd's. This is a great workout! A ton of breathing and core strengthening. It's great because you can do as much as you can for that day and come back another day and try it again. She has an excellent and personable attitude and I can't wait to take a class from her in person some day! If you are looking to learn new ways to get in shape and amp up your practice this is an excellent choice. She also gives you beginner alternatives which really helps the newbies and gives you a goal to motivate you!


Good but felt a little ripped off.

I decided to buy this DVD because my girlfriend attends her Manhattan studio and raved about her. I thought what she did show was difficult, but could easily be modified for beginners. However, after looking at the format and reviews of her other DVD (total body transformation for weight loss) I feel ripped off. This DVD is only 1 hour of material. I know it is called power hour - but not two many different poses were fit into that hour. If you want a taste of Sadie I don't recommend purchasing this DVD..not much there.

Wouldn't buy them again

When I opened these pants they stank so badly that I tossed them into the washing machine without first checking fit -- too bad, as now I can't return them. The fit is poor. I am 5'4", and these size medium are high water pants on me, so I can't imagine them on anyone taller. The inserts flare out in an odd way. While they are listed as soft, they are kind of stiff and shiny -- perhaps they will become soft with repeated washings. I had just wanted them to hang out in the house and sleep in, but they fit so poorly that I probably can't even use them for that.

Great for resistance training

I use this timer several times a week and I really like it. If you do any sort of resistance training where you rest X amount of time between sets, but you rest Y amount of time between EXERCISES, then this will work very well for you. Just map one of your times to T1 and another to T2. I think there are even 3 more times you can map under MY TIME, but I don't use them. This product has gotten some bad marks for its difficulty in configuring, but there's really nothing to it. It might take you a minute or so to figure out, but it's about as hard as learning all the features of a digital watch. But then again, I do not use this product for its interval feature, which keeps looping through T1 and T2 a certain number of times, although I can't imagine that'd be too hard either.

Once you set it up, though, everything is just one button press. For example, T1, START and the time you stored in T1 starts counting down. Once it runs out you get a beep and a flashing light. You can adjust the volume of the beep with the dial on top. At any time you can STOP which will pause the timer, or click T1 or T2, etc to reset the timer to the stored value.

Another plus of this item is that the digits are quite large. There's also a little mount point for a screw in the back, if you want it on a wall in your home gym.

Good Product | Bad Instructions

I like this timer. It works every time, and it's got a loud (and adjustable) beep that's easy to hear, which makes it perfect for timing my heavy bag workouts. I even like the industrial, retro look-and-feel of the timer. But the user instructions are some of the worst I've ever seen. I followed the quick-reference instructions imprinted on the top of the timer as well as the longer paper instructions. They are simply wrong. I tried them multiple times, carefully following each step. They did not work. So I played around with the timer until I figured out the right sequence of buttons to push. I then wrote my own simple and short instructions -- just three steps to set up a simple workout. So it turns out the timer really is simple to use -- but you'd never know it from the instructions.

Worked for one day

I bought this timer to break up my heavy bag workouts into rounds. The day I received it, the timer seemed to work fine. There is a small on/off switch on the top and large easy to use buttons on the face. It was not as loud as I had hoped, but probably good enough. The next day the timer was dead. I replaced the batteries and nothing. I think I left the power switch on, but not longer than a day. Patience and troubleshooting lasted about an hour before banging it on the table and giving up. Double checked it a week later with new batteries....nothing.

If you are serious about your workouts then you need to own this book. I own other books on lifting weights and body building, but this one is different. It puts the emphasis on becoming stronger and if you do the workouts exactly as written, you will do that. I have just completely my first 4 weeks on this 16 week program and I feel much more balanced and stronger already! This is a total body work out, not just staying in the gym for an hour or more at a time working out single body parts, which to me can get a little boring. Eric Cressey knows his stuff. Buy this book!!

I just finished Eric's 16 week program recently. Saw my deadlift improve from 275 to 385 and an increase in bench press from 205 to 225.

Excellent detail in book from warm up exercises to well written descritpions of all the exercises you'll do over the 16 week program. Could not reccommend this book more to someone who is sick of doing the same exercises without seeing results.

I am a senior with two artificial knees and a bad hip. Although this would be a good book for someone it is not what I am able to do. I do think it is more reasonable than some exercise programs for me which are totally unrealistic. I am not an exercise enthusist to begin with so my comments may not be that important.

Another winning selection by Tosca. You cant go wrong buying an eat clean book. I recommend all the books in her series. She is a pioneer in the clean eating movement, and she breaks down the program in an easy, relatable manner. Def worth the read.

Not bad but not helpful

I bought this book thinking it would help me start a weight training program but was disappointed to see that it didn't have very many exercises in it.

The DVD was good and I liked how it was put together but as one reviewer put it, if you have done any type of weight lifting before, this won't teach you anything new.

If you are new weight training then this is a good book but if you have done any kind of weight training then skip this book. You can get a lot more out of any of the women's health magazines or even the men's then you can out of this book.

INCORRECT ILLUSTRATIONS

After I ordered this book I got an email that some of the pictures for the exercises were incorrect. Unfortunately between the time I got the book ( few weeks later) I lost the email. I cant find out where the correct pictures are which makes this book worthless. I am going to call amazon and see if I can return it for a credit.


Motivating

I'm a longtime exerciser and was in need to change my routine. I have used kettlebells evey so often, but after reading this book, I'm inspired to step it up and use them every other day, so that on the in-between days I can still do cardio and/or regular weight lifting. In my opinion, if you want to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must do high impact and if you want real muscle definition you must use targeted lifting. I also believe in interval and circuit style training. When I look at the pictures of the author and another demonstrator in this book I see very little to no muscle definition and conclude therefore that using kbells only may be the reason. But I really enjoyed reading about the unique effect of kbells on your body and I can agree with that a 20 to 30 minute kbell routine is comparable to an hour of something else as it definitely takes everything out of you. I prefer to work out with DVDs rather than a book, but I thought this one was very informative and motivating.


This book does not sit unused.

To me, this is the next step up from having some basic Kettlebell (KB) instructions or DVDs to become better informed on the matter. I tried out her program, yes, I am a guy but I wanted to know more, I saw a copy of the book, I found it accessible and have spent a fair amount of time read and rereading. The author has great enthusiasm and readable style. I was skeptical as to whether the exercises would be that cardiovascular but yes they are, the squats, racks, etc. but make sure you do follow the prescribed number from the programs (Platinum, etc.) in the back of the book.

I think she might have been able to set up a special section and some pictures on the way to palm-punch the handle of the kettlebell and how people sometimes can knock the kettlebell on their forearm. She does indeed discuss this in full in the exercises, say for example in describing the "Lateral Lunge, Open Arm with Press" on page 55 but there are many people who unfortunately, do not read the information despite it being stated. She says correctly "Don't grip the handle. Instead, let it roll down to the base of your fingers, then roll back into the rack as you come out of the lunge back into a standing position." To this end, she also recommends wrist guards. I believe she says wrist sweat bands will do. I always have them on.

If one really reads this book, they stand to benefit. She also makes important points in the appendix about what weights might be proper for a person beginning, etc. I think the book is wise to have many pictures where very light weights, they look like 10 pounders to me, but probably are 15 being used. Weights can always be increased at some point in time. A nice addition to anyone's kettlebell library but especially for newbies.


Pleasantly surprised!

I have been working out with kbells since Jan 2009. I began with a great dvd by Lauren Brooks. She is also a certified Russian Kettlebell specialist. After using her Ultimate Body Sculpting dvds (1 & 2), I felt like I was a fairly experienced kettlebell enthusiaste. (By the way, I was an avid fan of dumbbell workouts but I have quit my dumbbells since picking up a kettlebell. Kbells are a much better method.) Anyway, I was looking for a book to compare training notes/methods against Ms. Brooks'. I was skeptical that Ms. Kleidman's book could supply workouts equal to the ones on my dvds. I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised and impressed. The workouts are intense if you are using a heavy enough bell and they are clear, concise and easy/fun circuits to follow. They provide a great workout and are a great supplement to my dvds. I was also surprised to find there are four programs and they aren't repetitious!
My only gripe is that I learned to workout barefoot and the book recommends using shoes. I am used to working out barefoot now and so I am not sure I agree with the author's advice on that point. In all, however, I highly recommend this book.


Like having your own personal trainer

Buying this book: Lorna Kleidman's Body Sculpting with Kettle Bells: was simply the best thing I have ever done. My friend Jo introduced me to kettlebells and she took me through a work out session and I loved it straight away. I started on using kettle bells 3 times a week but with no real direction but did feel small changes in my shape.
I have always had to worry about my weight and staying a UK size 12 took effort. During my pregnancy I ate anything and everything in sight as I saw it as a right of passage (silly girl). For months after my sons birth I did nothing and just hoped the weight would fall off....magically. For months I have been feeling down and feeling totally useless as I just could not shift the weight.

Jo calls me one day and tells me about Lorna Kleidman's Body Sculpting with Kettle Bells book and that I just have to get it......well as I said before: that was one of the best things I have ever done.

I have just completed the silver program and I can't actually believe that this is my body. My core has never been this strong and my thighs.....wow they are like rocks. So many people have noticed the difference in me and I feel fantastic. I am so excited about the change in my shape and the weight is now coming off. My arms have never looked this good. I just can't believe more people don't know about this book (something which I intend to change).
I feel in control of my life again and feel like I have more energy. I have never looked forward to a workout but now I get so excited. The book is so well structured and helps you understand technique which is critical for results. It is serious like having a personal trainer!!!!

Non-Adaptable & Cheap

Bought some of these bands last year. I found them very limiting in what exercises you can do with them and the amount of resistance you can apply. Definately not trying to turn anyone of from resistance bands. Resistance bands are excellent products for all types of exercise. I actually use them for body building, but they can be used for toning, strength training, aerobics and pilates, not to mention rehibilitation. Many gyms are incooperating them into their training regimens. But they're not using these, that's for sure. I have since bought a far superior product with excellent workout resources to go along with it. But don't just take my word for it. I suggest you check out a site called [...]. They have several daily LIVE exercise programs using bands made by Bodylastics. Just check it out and pick a program to watch. You can sign up for free and read what the members have to say. The adaptability of Bodylastics is second to none. Check it out before you buy anything.


A good additional tool, but it's no dumbbell

These bands are great additional tools for home gyms or even commercial gyms. I loop them over the pull up bar to use them as cable machine type of workout. But it doesn't have the constant resistance like the dumbbells or weights have. Use biceps curl as an example, when you pick up a 40lbs dumbbell from the rack. It gives you that 40 lbs resistance at the moment it lift off the rack, and continues to do so in any position of the exercise. VS these resistance bands have virtually no resistance at the starting position of biceps curl exercise. Its resistance increases as you raise the forearm and decreases as you lower the forearm back to the starting position. You don't get the constant resistance as the weights give you. So if you're serious about body building, then weights/dumbbells are a must and probably are more effective than these bands.

Lastly, yes they are not heavy. I use 30-35 lbs dumbbell (in each hand) for biceps curl, it takes two purple bands to get close to that resistance; but not a constant resistance. So I'm going back to dumbbells for most of weight lifting workouts.


Works. But It Will Tear Up Your Hands

I bought the heavy resistance bands, and they can give you a good workout. However, the picture shows that the tube attaches to the handle portion directly in the middle. This is not the case. With mine, the tube attaches off-center, causing an awkward grip. This causes your hands to rub on the fabric portion of the handle, at times rubbing them raw. I have several blisters and "burn marks" from this. Even wearing workout gloves doesn't totally solve this problem. Be wary of this.


Bands are dangerous

Works for me

I call these "Have gym will travel." I brought the one I currently use w/me on a weekend get away to ensure I keep up. I am using one band for upper arm strength but can see down the road adding another band for more resistance. I agree the handles are bulky so holding two at the same time will be a challenge.

good deal, but not for serious training

The delivery was prompt and everything was packaged nicely. Unfortunately, the bands are not very strong. There are five, but the difference in resistance between each one is negligible. They would be good for someone who is just starting out, or who only trains once a week. If you're a serious trainer and you're looking for something to use while you travel, I'd recommend paying a little bit more for a more heavy duty set.

workout with weights

There must be some reason why some exercisers reach their fitness, fat loss and physique goals while others fail.  There is, and is really is quite simple once you understand it.  The reason is that successful exercisers use MULTIPLE workouts to meet their goals over an extended period of time.

The fact of the matter is, there is not one workout that can accomplish all the improvements you need to reach your overall goal.  For example, you might choose a workout that focuses on fat loss.  But the fact of the matter is, you need to improve fitness and build lean muscle to reach your true physique goals.  So, a one size fits all workout just won't do.  To illustrate what I mean, let's look at three different types of bodyweight workouts.

Workouts Without Weights For General Fitness

Bodyweight calisthenics are an excellent choice for improving fitness.  After all, there are many physical abilities that need to be improved for a high level of fitness like strength, power, endurance, speed, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination, accuracy and mental toughness.  And bodyweight workouts are great for improving all these physical qualities.

And keep this in mind.  Even though your goal might be more for appearance, improving your appearance is a RESULT of a higher level of fitness.  So, you should have do a general fitness workout.  But...

Workouts Without Weights For Fat Loss

You can't expect your general fitness workout to burn off all the fat you need to reach your body fat goals.  So you should use a fat loss workout that specifically targets burning calories.  (Think of a fast paced bodyweight calisthenics circuit with little rest.)

But here is the trick.  You fat loss workout shouldn't interfere with your fitness or physique building goals.  As a matter of fact, they should improve both fitness and keep valuable muscle while targeting fat elimination.  But there is more...

Workouts Without Weights For Strength And Size

Of course, to end up with the athletic body (not a bodybuilder body), most exercisers want, you need to pack on some lean muscle.  After all, to look the way you want takes more than just losing pounds of fat.  You also need to build attractive muscle!

Therefore, you should target muscle growth.  But again, you want to do this in a way that does not sabotage your fat loss and fitness improving efforts.

Wouldn't it be great if changing ONE thing resulted in the body you want?  But the truth is, there are many things you meed to do to build the strong, lean, athletic body you dream of.  You can't just train for fitness.  You can't just train for fat loss, or building muscle.  So, you need multiple bodyweight workouts to reach your ultimate goal.

Exercisers who succeed in reaching their fitness, fat loss and physique building goals know they need to use multiple types of workouts to build their best body.  So, focus on different types of workouts at different times while staying on track to meet your overall goals, and you too will succeed.

Works great for my iPhone!

I use this when I do my 1.5 acre yard. With good in-ear earbuds the sound is great, and I don't have to worry about a cord being ripped out of my iPhone and damaging it. I can also put the iPhone in a sealed ziploc bag so it's completely safe from rain, perspiration, or accidents with the water hose. Accessory Genie great to do business with too. Previous good service has made me a repeat customer.

The trick when pairing this device is to turn it on, then continue to hold down the power button (a clear piece of plastic) until it begins flashing both red and blue.

Aside from that, there's not much to it. The quality is OK and you can add your own headphones if you have any you would like to use.


Works as a home stereo bluetooth adapter

For those who have problems with the skip forwad and skip back buttons: That is an Ipod/Iphone issue. Apple disabled the forward and back skip functions on their devices. Send apple a comment asking them to enable forward and back buttons for bluetooth devices please because I want to be able to use that functionality too.

As far as devices other than Ipod/Iphone I haven't tried forward/back so...

I needed a receiver to connect bluetooth audio to my home stereo. There are several products specifically made for home stereo use, and all of them cost too much for me ($40-$150). This product is just what I was looking for. It works while the battery is charging so I can leave it plugged in and connected to my stereo. I currently use it only to play music fom my Ipod until I get a bluetoth adapter for my laptop. It works great so far no problems.


Great litlle item

This product exceeded my expectations. I have a Moto Droid which I listen to music on frequently but the headphone jack has become loose so I wanted to replace with a bluetooth device. I wanted to find something generic that would work with any headphones because I have not found many bluetooth headphones I like. I have several wired varieties I like and just wanted to make them bluetooth. Device works great for that. This alone would have made me happy but I hoped for (and got) play/pause/forward/backward/vol up/vol down controls as well as a decent built-in mic so I can receive calls with it. Clip spring is a little weak so you have to make sure you clip it to something secure. Overall functionality is great and I would recommend it to anyone. The construction is light plastic so I figure it will probably break soon, but for $25 I'll just buy another one.

The rewind/skip feature does not work but I still love being able to use any earbuds. And it has a loop so that I can attach a lanyard or such to it - cheap feature but hugely important to not losing my small gadgets! If only the rewind/skip button worked... If only the blue 'on' light didn't flash so brightly... Still like it, though.

I buy a lot of stuff from amazon and this has to be the worst product I have ever received. The concept is great. The implementation misses the mark. Every time I turn the headphones on I have pair them with my iphone4. Inside a car I can listen to podcast but the sound quality is poor for music. Unless I yell and speak slowly people on the other end of a phone call can not understand me. The headset is basically unusable as a phone headset. The headset does not work well outside. I wanted to be able to put my phone in a waterproof pouch on my waist and run but the connection is lost from that 1 meter distance. There is no real manual and no web site or technical support. Amazon should raise their standards and ban schlock like this

Not what I expected

Though I am not an audiophile, sound quality is a top priority. I use these headsets for riding the train, taking cruises and working around the house. I have been using bluetooth headsets since they created them for the 3rd generation Ipod (logitech). I wanted a set to use strictly with my new Ipod touch, so I ordered these. I love the design and the fit; earbuds and I do not get along. However, I was really disappointed with the sound. No dynamic range, no bass at all even after I adjusted my EQ settings on my Ipod. The music sounded like an AM radio station from back in the day. I don't expect the same quality from bluetooth as I do from wired headphones, but even the logitech headphones I purchased years ago had better quality sound. Frankly in my opinion the earbuds that came with the Ipod has better sound. Hopefully they can improve the sound on these things, the design is great. Regretfully I am here again looking for another set. By the way I giving this set to my wife, she's tone deaf she won't care (just kidding).

Quality of the product is great, while fitting comfortably on the arm; however, when temperatures were warm with humidity in the air, had caused the plastic face on the band to be ineffective with my phone. The screen was full of moisture to the point I could not use the buttons, and nor was my phone working properly until I had reset the battery.

Plus it was lightly sprinkling out, but nothing that I haven't ran in before with my phone in a different holder that was more exposed to rain.

Nice product all in all!

Excellent except for one issue

This is a great accessory for your iPod earphones if you run. It really keeps the earphones in place when you're running. Even if you're sweating, you don't have to worry about the earphones falling off. The only issue (other than it can only be used with Apple's earphones) is actually putting the earbuds on. It's a bit of a hassle to wrap the earbuds around your ear before you start running, but it becomes much more difficult while you're running. Let's say you accidentally yank your earphone cord and the earpiece comes off your ear. Because of your sweat, it's super hard to put the earbuds back in place while you're running. You'll most likely stop and try to put the earbuds in place (which isn't that easy either).


Good idea - poor fit

You would think that it would fit. Unfortunately I did not find this to be the case.

The BudFits may stay on my ears but they do not keep the Apple earbuds inside my ears with any motion.

After trying several other solutions I found and recommend the Philips earhook headset SHH8006.


Not Worth It - the Earbudi is Better

I bought these because I heard that they keep your earbuds in place - true for about 10 minutes. Maybe I have weird ears, but the Innovelis Budfits felt bulky on my head and just made my earphones bigger and they actually fell off easier. I threw them out. I didn't want to spend any more money, but two friends swore by the "Earbudi" so I borrowed theirs and then bought my own pair. What I like about the Earbudi is it fits my ear without the awkward bulkiness I had with the Innovelis brand. And they stay in! They're comfortable too, which I didn't expect, so you don't notice them. They also don't get caught in my earrings like the Innovelis brand did. Earbudi is also easier to put over your earbuds because you just slide it on - you don't have to put it on upside down like with Innovelis. The Earbudi is so much better! Great for cleaning and gardening too, because your earphones don't fall out when you lean or bend over. Actually the reason I threw the Innovelis brand out was because I was cleaning my bathroom with them in and the left one fell out into the toilet, which of course yanked the right one out with it before I could catch them. Some people don't have a problem with their iPod or iPhone earbuds falling out, but if you're active with them and they do fall out, definitely try the Earbudi before you try the Innovelis ones. The cost is the same!

I purchased these earbud adaptors and they are great. No more of the slipping out of the ear hassle. great product recommended.


Totaly In Love

I searched and search for something like these, and finally found them. Apple ear-buds do not stay in my ears, and trying to make them stay is very painful, but since the controls are built into the ear-buds (dumb), they're a necessary evil.

This awesome and inexpensive product allows me to keep using my ear-buds without fighting them or hurting myself. I'm completely in love with the BudFits.

My only tiny complaints are that the ear-bud cord does tend to detach rather easily, and the ear-buds themselves come out with a little rough housing (or after throwing them in my messy purse, trying to extract them often made the BudFits detach from the EarBuds). I used rubber-bands for a while, and that worked well. It didn't seem to interfere with the comfort or fit. I got new ear-buds recently, so I super-glued them to the BudFits - so far, this is an excellent permanent solution.

Even with that drawback, I believe this is a totally amazing product, well worth the very low price.

This armband case is great! Especially for the price! My iPhone fits easily inside, but my regular case has to be removed before it will fit. Definitely a great product and worth the money.


functional but with flaws

this product is cute and functional, but has some flaws. it is well padded as described and has an average sized armband. it is actually a little big for my arm, but I am very petite. my iPod fits in the holder with it's case still on, which is convenient. however, the plastic screen protector is pretty thick, making it hard to use your iPod at times. tapping is easy, but sliding to unlock or adjust volume is nearly impossible. also, the top of the holder is open, where it is possible, though highly unlikely, for your iPod to fall out. I haven't had this problem yet though. and lastly, a rather serious flaw that I discovered is that there is no hole for your earbuds to plug into your iPod. a stupid mistake in design. however, an easy fix. I simply extended the already existing hole using scissors. overall, for the price, a good buy. :)


Can't believe the price

I'm just blown away by some of the prices on Amazon and this is one of those items. Again, I wasn't sure of the quality, but I've used it a few times now and it does the job. Real cute, does what it's suppose to.
