Great workout,John Hackelman has you sweating from the beginning, the first workout is upper body and the second workout is lower body and the third workout combines both for a full-body workout. The workouts are very intense but also very easy to follow along. Hackelman has trouble counting when doing push-ups but he does admit his mistakes, i count for myself so I know how many I have done. Otherwise a great quality workout dvd, that you do not need any equipment for besides a television and it only costs less than 20 dollars.


Better than P90X!

I completed 90 days of P90X and had great results but wanted more of a challenge and even more results. The Pit workout does it and is more fun for me because I am interested in MMA. I am noticing a higher level of strength and fitness, and getting a little more cut. P90X feels like aerobics compared to this! I still mix in the weights DVDs from P90X, but the PIT pushes you harder. And you are still using just your body and don't really need equipment. John Hackleman is a cool dude and is helpful and instructive with no BS.

My only criticism is that you should do some jump rope or jacks while John talks before each set cause he stretches the water break about a minute too long sometimes.

If you get the boxset, you will have a more complete picture of what John teaches in regards to fitness.


Pretty Good

This DVD was pretty good. It wasn't quite as diverse as I would have liked, but it was worth the money. This is not a program that can be your sole source of exercise. It consists PRIMARILY of shadow boxing and pushups. Unfortunately, there are no back exercises. Also, if you don't have any boxing or MMA background, this DVD isn't for you. If you don't know how to shadow box or hit a heavy bag, you'll probably be lost and frustrated. If you want to add a little something extra for your workout, give it a try.


Great Value

In the field of physical fitness and sports we often see 50 minute DVDs costing $40. This is a 2 DVD set, no fluff, great workouts and costs half of that.
Another good feature is that you need zero equipment, although a heavy bag and a jump rope will enhance the workout. Still, you can do these sessions anywhere and you certainly don't need a gym.

I am a fitness guy not an MMA fighter and I have the feeling that this is the targeted market for the DVD. Although there is a brief appearance by Chuck Liddell at the beginning, he doesn't actually contribute anything to the DVD besides introducing John. The guys and gals in the class certainly do not appear to be MMA fighters but rather average folks keeping in shape. Great shape. And John does the workouts with his students.

The DVD shows very intensive upper body, lower body and full body sessions. I got some great ideas from this product.

My only semi-critical comment is that there was noticeable technique deterioration as the sets progressed. Parallel squats became quarter squats, pushups began to look contorted, etc. There are different schools of thought in the world of fitness and conditioning. One school believes that an exercise is terminated once good technique cannot be maintained. John seems to subscribe to the philosophy that there is conditioning value in doing partial, technically imperfect reps.

To sum up: great DVD and great value.


Intense Workout...Recomend it to anyone.

This has to be one of the most intense workouts Ive ever done. It teaches you how to fight while also giving you a Great workout. Great for anybody who want's to get in shape. For the price it's one of the best workout DVD's you can find. And plus you don't even need anything else besides your body to workout with.

I own approximately 150 workout tapes... this one costing me 1$ is probably a favorite time crunch video.
It is fast paced alternating between upper body and abs.... each about 1 minute. I would consider it a cardio tape as well. It just doesn't stop..... Great cueing and good pointers throughout. The only negative comment might be the music and exercises do not go together, and the voice of Michelle is a bit high pitched.... who cares? It's 30 minutes of what each of us need per day to keep the ever increasing stress level down. Enjoy!

I completely agree with the other reviewer. This is a good video, especially for the price it seems to be going for. I got my copy for a dollar at the Dollar Tree. This is a solid workout, which you can make as challenging as you want, based on the weight you use. Each exercise is done for about 1 minute, which is nice, because I feel like I can do just about anything for 1 minute. The production quality isn't very good, but the workout makes up for that. I will say that of the three 30 Minute Express videos, this is my least favorite. However, it's a great video overall.


Very Good

Wow, this workout is good (I didn't expect to like it as much as I did). In just 30 minutes it works your upper body and abs really well. Each exercise is done for 1 minute which translates into about 30 to 35 reps for most. It reminded me a little of Kelly Coffey-Meyer's 30 Minutes to Fitness, because Michelle also alternates upper body and abs. Almost all of the exercises can be done either with dumbbells or a resistance band. Half of the exercisers do it with weights and the other half with the band, some standing, others sitting on a step. This provides lots of options to modify. I recommend this video, it gets the job done, the time goes by fast and the instructor is friendly and pleasant.

It helped a bit, but the cinched part under the bust starts to irritate after awhile. It would make it kinda sore, so it was trading one soreness for another.


Ok but not great.

I found the BellyBra to be ok but not great. It really didn't help relieve any back pain and the elastic band at the botton hits me in the wrong place. It feels like it adds pressure to the bladder instead of releaving any. Also, the straps are very wide making it harder to conseal under clothing.


Much better than other choices!!

I tried on a bunch of other choices before choosing this, sight unseen. It's much more comfortable than the plain elastic bands that go under your belly. This takes a lot of pressure off of your back when you exercise. I definitely recommend it! It does come up pretty high, so with lower necklines, you can see it.


good support!

This belly bra gives great support for the tummy and is very comfortable. However, if you have wide scoop neck or v neck tops, beware because the neckline is narrow, and the belly bra will show inside your top's neckline. Good product for wintertime esp when you are wearing turtlenecks etc.


so-so product, not the best out there

Tried this on right away after recieving, was so excited. I'm a very active mom-to-be and was looking for extra support expecially during workouts. At 29 weeks and having gained 25 lbs already, I found that the small was a little too small, but the medium too big- the small was hard to get on and off because it was tight at the top especially, but once on was generally comfortable. Product irritated the underarms at the seams when active. Belly portion fit well and was confortable, but the band at the bottom did irritate my skin a bit, and felt "tight" because it was somehwat narrow elastic (2"). Very see-through garmet. Nowhere near sufficient as a sportsbra, even for small chest size. Does provide significant warmth as a base layer, so with addition of sportsbra and t-shirt, got overheated easily.

Overall, plan to return, as there seem to be better products out there that are wider at the bottom, and not integrated as a shirt/bra as well.

Just like others have said it is comfortable. I wore it for nine days in China. Throw away the plastic liner and use your own zip top bag for passport and money. I also had to cut the excess strap. Washes very easily. I recommend it.


Not found in stores

My niece was traveling to Europe and asked me if I had a money belt. Apparently, she couldn't find one at any of the stores recommended. I called Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but they did not have any in stock, only online. I did a search and found several belts. I liked the Rick Steves Money Belt because it was affordable and silky. I ordered it to be shipped within two days and received it in time before my niece left to Europe. When she returned, I asked her how the money belt worked and she was very pleased with the ease of unzipping it. This was a good product.


Didn't survive an eight day trip to Europe

I purchased this item and used it just last week for my trip to Europe. It lasted only three days before the zippers failed. We used Rick Steves' books and audio guides and loved those but this money belt was not built to last. I found that as long as you don't wear baggy pants or shorts, you can get away with keeping your valuables in your front pockets without any problems. If you think you still need a money belt you should try something a little more durable (and probably more expensive).

I have purchased two sets of these belts over the last month. The first order received was of a high quality belt, well stitched and finished. The belt was firm and slighty stiff as it should be. A good quality belt all round.

I then ordered a second set of the same belts but at a larger size. These belts where not of the same quality, in particular the finishing of the belt ends was poor. The belts seemed to have come from a longer strip and had been cut to size and heat sealed. The weight and firmness of the belts was also less then the first order. While adequate these belts where disappointing when compared to the first shipment.

A Solid Value

I have purchased several of these and found them to be very durable. There are eight rows of stitching running the length of the belt and the ends are double stitched. I found the stitching near the ends of all the belts to be a little sloppy, but you really have to look close to see this. They are a little stiff, but that gives me a feeling that they would last over the long haul. After hundreds of times of being tied and untied, it is not easy to tell where the wear spot is from the knot. As far as fading, my belts are still as brightly colored as the day I purchased them, but I don't wash them either. I only put my belt on right before practice and then put it back in my bag after practice.

You'll advance to the next belt before you wear one of these out. A good durable belt and a good value at around $5.00.

I have tried the pink and black ones and they were too big and would fall down my arm. They were hard to put iPhone in them and would tear when inserting iPhone, but this one is fabulous. Easy to use, small enough for my arm and very comfortable. Stays in place while I'm running and protects it while it's raining. Love it!

Quality of the product is great, while fitting comfortably on the arm; however, when temperatures were warm with humidity in the air, had caused the plastic face on the band to be ineffective with my phone. The screen was full of moisture to the point I could not use the buttons, and nor was my phone working properly until I had reset the battery.

Plus it was lightly sprinkling out, but nothing that I haven't ran in before with my phone in a different holder that was more exposed to rain.

Nice product all in all!

This arm band was alot cheaper than the Belkin but really not worth it. It was nice and comfortable except the velcro keeps ripping off. I had to hot glue it back many times but it came off again and again. So I stopped taking my ipod out of the sleeve, then the velcro on the strap itself ripped off. I got fed up and threw it away.


Completely Useless

I never thought I'd feel jobbed about something that cost $2. But I do. The band is constructed of 2 pieces held together by spit and Hope. It peeled apart in less than a week, so I had to sew the top together. I'd return it, but the postage is more than it's worth.

Don't buy this

Don't buy this case. I needed to replace an armband case I had purchased from Apple and worn out. I use the armband when I workout. This case is not waterproof (ok nothing is but this isn't close). The design has large openings. In contrast the case I purchased from Apple years ago was relatively enclosed and waterproof. I would not feel comfortable running in a light rain shower with this armband case from Griffin. In contrast I ran (ok jogged) in the rain with the Apple case without worry. To top it all off, the construction of this case by Griffin is poor. The stitching was uneven and not well done.

If you don't need to worry about using the armband outside it is probably worth the very low price. If you plan to use it outdoors in all weather don't buy it. I will be looking for something better.

This product is very comfortable to wear, and is good if you need to have an armband that offers protection without feeling like your wearing combat gear. However, along those lines the clear plastic portion of the armband does seem kinda cheap and I am not sure how this product will hold up for the long haul...also, the clear plastic does make it difficult sometimes to scroll through music and change volume (not enough to complain about, but just enough to make mention of). Overall, I am happy with this product.

Nice armband

Needed an armband for my Ipod Video so I can listen while I ride my mountain bike. This works nice. Only thing that would improve it is some velcro. Kinda hard to tighten it when it is around your arm. Some velcro there would be a great improvement. It holds nice and I can use the Ipod while it is still in this case. Just need to take it out to charge.

Are you a type A, go getter, do ten things at once type of person?

Do you get bored easily with the same old-same old?

Want to know the best way to combat that boredom and bring your health and fitness to a new level?

I spent years trying different healthy workouts beginning with aerobics.

It began in college during the Jane Fonda years when I followed the lead of the girls in my sorority. We put a video tape in the VCR, moved the coffee table out of the way and proceeded to jump, bump and squeeze our way into shape.

This was followed, post-college, by aerobics classes at the gym where I wore cute little leotards and colored tights. I could admire myself in the mirrored wall while following the movements of an enthusiastic instructor. And if I was lucky I’d meet a nice guy in the weight lifting area and, well, that’s another topic.

Marriage brought children. After my first child, via an unexpected, painful, emergency C-section, I bought a step. Once again, I found myself, moving the coffee table out of the way, putting the video tape in the VCR and climbing my way to fitness. It took about a year after my son’s birth to get back into my pre-baby clothes (plus 7 pounds).

Baby number two, via a less painful moderately expected C-section, I bought a slide. The slide was kind of fun. You put little nylon booties over your sneakers and slid back and forth following the video tape in the VCR. What followed was another year to fit into pre-baby clothes (plus 4 pounds).

Somewhere along the way, I took up running as the main stay of my healthy workouts. Oprah was running marathons which meant anybody could do it. I set my alarm for 5:15 AM Monday through Friday and braved the weather to run 2 ½ miles through my neighborhood before my husband had to leave for work. By 6:30 AM he was gone and I was home with my two sons for the day, feeling healthy, workout complete.

Baby number three, another son via a very uneventful, planned and surprisingly painless C-section, I added biking to my morning routine. Now I had variety! I could run the same route every morning. I could bike a different but longer route every morning. Or there was always the stack of video tapes if I felt like moving the coffee table.

Boy was this living!

It took another a year to get back into my pre-baby clothes with zero pounds added.

Fast forward three years, morning workouts were still a habit and boring as hell. I didn’t even feel like I was exercising any more because the routines were all so familiar to me, the required effort level was dropping, lower and lower.

Let me give you the answer to what you’ve been seeking. It’s the real deal and I am proof positive that it works. I discovered the benefits of Martial Arts.

Martial arts training is a complete healthy workout in every sense of the word. Not only do you increase your physical fitness level in ways you never imagined, but you exercise your mind as well. The bands are nice. Lots of resistance, and are easily doubled up for the workout. The thigh strap is incredibly small and barely fits my wife let alone me. We don't have large thighs either, the thing is just too small.

After measuring it, it is 24" long. If your thigh is any bigger than 23", you will be putting on a tourniquet.

This work out kit is really nice. The bands are so much better than the original Active tension band, which mine broke, that's why I opted for this new set. I truely like it as it has 3 different tension bands. Thumbs up.


Good but disappointed

I got this product because I wanted new bands, in fact, the day it arrived the original band snapped. The bands worked great but the plastic on the leg strap broke the first time I put it on,so I have had to continue with the original leg strap. I rated this as ok because the bands did as I expected but was disappointed in the workmanship on the leg strap.

I expected the leg band to be very short. When I compared it to the ea leg band, it was only 1 1/2" shorter. I CERTAINLY don't have 19" thighs but it fit me. I also love the extra padding on the handles for the resistance bands. They suggest combining the bands for more resistance, I'm not there yet... It is great to work out with someone else. Then you aren't the only one getting yelled at :) when doing the ea active.

I'm very happy with these weights, they aren't too light or too heavy. It's a great addition to the wii for exercises. I don't see why regular weights wouldn't work though, if you could get them cheaper. There really isn't anything that makes these specific to the wii that I've seen.

Kind of a goofy concept, but I actually got these to wear while playing video games. The wrist weights strap on securely and fit comfortably while allow you to use your hands, finger, arms, and wrists. I sweat under them, but I think that's going to happen with anything like this. I position the gap down, and the weights hang comfortably over my wrists - I don't even have to tighten the strap too tight. Note this product seems to be filed under video games, so while submitting this review, the systems ask me to rank the product with stars, and then to rank how 'fun is this game,' also in stars. Weights are not fun.


Disappointing

Made in China. They seemed fairly well made for China, but with so many products from China being toxic, this would have been a dealbreaker had I known (given its direct skin contact).

They're rather wide for just 1.1 pounds. That's right, they're not actually 1.5 pounds. The box says one pound and 1.6 ounces each. The width should be okay for (light) ankle weights, but they went too far up my forearm for my preference.

I didn't use them long enough to determine if I'd they'd grow on me. Just not worth it, at least not for me. However, if you're still interested after what I had to say, you'll probably like them; I didn't have any other complaints in the short time that I used them.

Buyer Beware

I am so disapointed.
The mat is great, socks nice, sleave is good. But the battery pack fried my balance board. If I know it would do that I would nave never bought this pack! After a few days of use with the battery pack my balance board kept saying please step off and press a and i would over and over again, I tried to do all kinds of things, then I read at the nintendo site that there are many people with this same problem. The battery pack overheats and damages the balance board. Thankfully I was able to teturn my balance board and get a new one, but I will not ever again use a battery pack with it. Please be careful if you get this product.

Is just me or are some of the things that folks wear to the gym enough to burn your retina, permanently? You know like a solar eclipse when the experts warn that looking right at it without a filter will cause irreparable damage. Read on for details but be warned, this will not be pretty.

Here the deal: I am not a high fashion gym guy. I'll wear an occasional Nike short and even more occasionally a logo shirt. On the other hand the sights I see at the gym can really hurt your eyes if you look too long or stare too hard. So as not be sexist please know that the conditions and descriptions mentioned herein apply to both men and women.

There are likely categories for the attire people choose to wear to workout and if there are no formal ones then I am here to make them up. The way I see it breaks down like this:

Terminally Fashionable: This god or goddess of workout is adorned head to toe in logo madness. Shirt, pants or shorts (or both), socks, shoes and hat all perfectly aligned. These are the same folks that seem to not sweat and may well send their workout clothes to the dry cleaner for that "just pressed" look. These are some of the same fabulous people that use the cell phone while walking the treadmill.

The Rumpled Ones: Though this can happen any day or time of the week, I find it to be especially prevalent on weekend mornings, say around 7 or 8 a.m. Bed head in place, crusty eyes, the "what the hell am I doing here after the thing I did last night" look; you know the ones. They do have a certain elegance in their wrinkled shirts and long, made for the beach, board shorts. One thing I found to be true though is that they are determined to work hard and I have watched their improvements over time. I applaud these folks for not caring about what's going on superficially outside. They care about results and it shows.

Stuck In The 70's: Tennis shorts, tucked in shirt, ankle high white socks with a portable 8 track player. All right I exaggerate, but not by much. These folks, again hard working, need to get one foot into the current millennium.

TMI (Too Much Information): Let's be clear here, no one I know wants to see that much of you or your parts. Just the other day I was doing a stretch on the floor. The women next to me, all of 7 feet away, was splayed over a ball in a tight thin cotton leotard like garment. She was not wearing any undergarments, this was obvious because in one glance I knew the camel toe had been spotted and refused to look back. Yes I am a healthy hetero male and no I do not need that much information. The male counterpart (perhaps they are related) insists on wearing short running shorts, again without any undergarments. I fondly call him FedEx because his package delivers at the gym. Again TMI!

One thing that all these ladies and gentlemen have in common is a desire to get off their butts and get to the gym. They are light years ahead of the slugs that are sitting on the couch eating Twinkies and chasing them with beer. I am of the mind that those are treats to have after you have done the workout! The reality is that what people wear is meaningless, fun to watch and write about, but meaningless none-the-less. This applies to everyone except FedEx. Please, I implore you for the sake of mankind, wear something under those short shorts or take a cue from the Terminally Fashionable and spend a couple of bucks to get your workout wardrobe an extreme makeover. If you don't cover up others will run the risk of permanent retina damage, just like a solar eclipse.

Beautiful dancers, beautiful costumes, beautiful music. As an advanced beginner, this gives me a good combination of things I can do and things that are still challenging. After the workout, they have step by step instructions to help you break down the moves, and there's a list of the music used so you can buy it yourself. There's a lot of material here, and you can watch it either with or without the voice cues. I think it's a worthwhile investment.


Not for beginners.

The dancers are beautiful. The costumes are beautiful. The instruction sucks. This is NOT a video for complete beginners, like myself. I found myself extremely frustrated by the speed of the instructions and the rapid movement from step to step.

The instructors are all wearing long skirts and you cannot see the knee and leg movements they are pointing out to you. It is difficult to copy a movement that you cannot see.

Do not buy this video until you have a firm foundation in bellydance. I'm sure its great for intermediates or advanced.


Fun video but not as easy as it looks

This should be your first work out tape unless you actively do an arobics exercise and are in reasonalbe shape. I found Neon's instruction in the 'step-by-step' section very helpful. This section is great for thoes who do not have any background. For thoes who have background, the section makes a great check and drill. No matter your size, this workout really works out most of the target areas. I think Luscious is a nice but challengin work out for beginners. I am pushing into my one year in belly dancing, and i found this video informative, creative and simply divine. the music is perfect for each section. I never got bored with this workout because of how each dancer lead the section and the different costumes. My arms and thighs alone burned with satisfaction.

Luscious - The Bellydance Workout for Beginners

This is not for beginners--you can't see their feet, they go to fast and they get caught up in their performance that they forget it is supposed to be for beginners. Don't waste your money-- Rania has some better DVD's out there that are really great for beginners.

I did break a sweat but it was because I was trying so hard to keep up and I still was confused and lost. I never knew if my feet were positioned right or not because I could not see their feet. These people should give people who bought this DVD back their money because they misrepresented--it is not for beginners! It is for the advanced--probably those who took their classes.

If you are brand new to bellydance, I highly recommend this DVD. I have had several bellydance DVDs, and use different ones for different reasons, but I'd rate this one very high in the "practice the basics while enjoying yourself" category ... it gives a very nice fundamental dance vocabulary for your body and dance, to practice and build on as time goes by ... I find all of the teachers and the instructions to be very pleasant and good as well ... There are pointers and some instruction, most especially in the technique breakdown ... It's nice because you are having fun and feeling good while learning and increasing your skill ... Also it provides a healthy dose of how moves affect your body (internal and external) and encourages self expression and Love ... Om Shanti

Disappointed by lack of 'instruction'

I was really looking forward to getting this, and am pretty disappointed.
There is basically no intro, no instructions or time allowed for you to get the steps down. I haven't done alot of workout videos, so that's why i figured I'd go w/ Richard Simmons'.
The DVD jumps right into a routine without any breakdown of the steps at all, so you don't even know what's coming next. I guess you're just supposed to flounder until you get them down. Also, the warm-up isn't until after the 1st routine which seemed a little off to me...
It did get me to work up a sweat, but It frustrated me more than anything since I could barely keep up with the routine changes.
You also need quite a bit of room to do the steps, so my living room was barely adequate. I'll try it again of course, but if you are uncoordinated and need something with step by step instructions, then this might not work for you.

I love doing this workout! The whole thing is like 50 mintues and I was surprised to see that there is an ab workout at the end. I like doing workout dvds at home and this was my first "dance" one. The moves are very easy, after 2 or 3 times you remember the order of everything. You don't need a whole lot of space to do it. Richard Simmons is cheesy but motivating. haha After the holidays I definitely plan on buying more.

I absolutely love this DVD. I love the warm up, exercise 1, and exercise 2. Sabrina is a great dance teacher, and yes, it does take a few times watching the dvd to get the steps right, but once you learn it, you know the routine, and it's really easy and fun to do. It also gives you a great workout. Not to mention the music. With a lot of other workout DVDs, I don;t think that they have cool music like this one. I really recommend this to people who are 11-15, but not really younger than 11, because it may be kinda hard for them to keep up. But if you are in the age range that I said, it's literally not a hard program, maybe a little quick, but totally worth it in the end. These are super fun dances, that I love to show my parents :)


Trying to get the hang of it is half the FUN!

I think some reviewers are hard on this DVD. If they got familiar with the DVD before rating it, it would help. For instance, there is a section that shows the dance moves. And, maybe it isn't 'on the music' as the one reviewer/dancer expected, but it's not JUST for dancers - it's for EVERY young girl! My daughter (12 yrs) & I had fun trying out the moves. And, I think you have to give them credit for repeating the moves again & again in the first exercise section (Pure Fun). Though, honestly, at first it doesn't LOOK like they are - bcs the moves ARE challenging, so, no, I couldn't keep up... but they ARE repeated over & over!! My daughter kept at it (she has NO kind of dance OR hip-hop training) & SHE GOT IT!! Give it a CHANCE!! It's SILLY FUN, IF you give it half a chance! And, we LOVED that Sabrina included an actual dance video of her own. The thing we didn't understand were the 2nd & 3rd exercise sections. They were ODDLY distracting. The 2nd & 3rd sections were strictly dancing by Sabrina & the backup dancers (not something you could 'follow' along with), but the WORST part was... it wasn't even Sabrina singing, tho SHE WAS singing to the camera. That seemed VERY strange... you were watching HER sing, but it wasn't HER voice, OR her music... you were hearing OTHER music, WHILE she's singing. That didn't make ANY SENSE!! Listening to one thing... while watching another??? But, the message to young girls IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT... & made more valuable coming from someone like Sabrina! I think they handled that quite well for young girls! It's about FUN & MOVING... not being perfect... or even doing it like someone else does! It's about being YOU & ENJOYING who you are!


If you've been dancing for about 10+ years try it

Well, it sounds good on paper. This is just way too complex for most kids. Sabrina Bryan is 24 and has probably had more dance training than any 10 or 11 year old could possibly have at their young age. It moves way too fast. The set is really boring too.

Product works better than I do

Exercise is hard work. Pilates is not easy. As long as my remaining VCR holds out, I'll keep trying pilates. I'm still working on the basics. The Bun & Thigh Sculpting, Ab Sculpting, and Accelerated Body-Sculpting will have to wait until I'm in better shape. If you're in good shape and want the Winsor Pilates series cheap, this is the way to go. But as a former couch potato, I feel well past my prime after a workout. It's both good and bad.

I have to say that I really enjoy this workout. It is so much fun and I look forward to doing it everyday. I seen results after the first 2 weeks of doing it daily. I like the 20 min work out express and then I add on some of the sculpt and tone workouts to it. Have fun and enjoy yourself!


Love Zumba!

I LOVE doing Zumba! I am a big fan. I was looking for something fun to do on the days when I'm not doing Tae Bo, and Zumba DEFINITELY fits the bill. I am a huge clutz and not a dancer by any means, but I've still managed to do all the steps and figure out Zumba. I love all the different workouts in the set. They get my heart rate up so I really feel like I'm getting a good workout, but the workouts are also so much fun that the time goes by quickly. I always feel refreshed and energized afterward instead of tired. The music is great. Buy these! You won't regret it.

Fun adjunct to a workout regimen

I am an uber fit senior recovering from a year long lay-up from a back injury resulting in 4 herniated discs. I've just begun slow, short hikes and weight lifting and added Zumba to my repertoire. It's an absolute blast. For those with back pain, you can still enjoy a fun basic workout while avoiding the routines where there are some jumps and hops. I didn't break a sweat or breathe hard, but the stretching is so much fun and the music is habit forming.

Most of the dancers in the videos obviously hit the gym regularly to be in the shape they are in, so don't be fooled into thinking that, YES, YOU can look like THEY do if you Zumba daily. If you buy the Zumba set with the expectation that it is only an adjunct, you won't be disappointed.

I love this DVD set. I am taking a Zumba class but I also love doing it at home. I have several friends that I introduced Zumba to and now we meet at least one night a week and do Zumba together. I bought this DVD set off Amazon and actually got it a litter cheaper than going through the Zumba website!

I really loved the zumba classes at the gym, so I decided to purchase them on my own for home use. The service of amazon was great, faster than I expected. But the videos themselves , I thought, were very confusing. I dont even use them now, because they just leave me frustrated. And He only speaks spanish.

Get on the zumba wagon!

I took my first Zumba lesson at a gym that charged 10.00 per class. I had so much fun. It was easy, the instructor was great. She took her time showing us the steps.

I decided to save money by ordering the dvd's and workout at home. I am by no means, a dancer or even cordinated. I am doing these 3x a week to start off.
I'm still stuck on the beginner dvd, which does take you step by step each move, slowly and then they will pick up pace. I sweat and my heart beat does get up there so I'm ok with stuck on the beginners dvd for now.
I had to stop and reply a lot in the beginner to catch on to the movements. I told myself that it's ok, the more you do it, the easier it will get.

I tried moving on to the next dvd, however, they move so fast and they move their hips so much that the moves barely resemble what I learned on the first dvd and I have a hard time following along. So, until I get the moves down pat, I think I'll be stuck on dvd 1.

I refuse to give up b/c I do love Zumba so much. Just don't get frusturated. Stay at your own pace and it's ok to stop the dvd and go back until you go the moves down. :-) Either way, your working out, your burning calories, and that's the idea, right?

I initial thought I was ordering the Beginners Zumba, I then get a case which states it is Africian Beat/ Latin heat. Inside the case was a completely different disk for Belly Dancing. Very disappointed.


Good workout

This video has me breaking a sweat...I love it. It's very entertaining, motivating and a great cardio workout. The warmup even has me sweating towards the end. Madonna doesn't give good cues in the beginning, but she repeats the steps, so you eventually catch on. She'll go over the 1st move, you'll do the 1st move repeatedly, then she'll add on a 2nd move. You'll then do the 1st and 2nd moves repeatedly, then she'll add a 3rd and so on until you're doing a full dance routine. This may be difficult if you have no rhythm, but after a little practice, you'll get it and start to enjoy it. I wish it were 2 or 3 routines so that I could alternate them every week.

I bought this DVD and while the box had this cover and the DVD had this picture, it was a belly dance dvd that had nothing to do with MaDonna Grimes. I was very disappointed. What a waste of money.

3 years and still going strong

I bought this off of an infomercial three (maybe more) years ago and I still love the workouts. The DVDs give you the option of running through the workout in order, or using shuffle to change it up. The 25 minute core workout is effective given the short time frame and the advanced workout is truly challenging. I actually enjoy that Gunnar has the viewer standing, sitting and moving around. It helps pass the time. I'm glad to see that Amazon still sells this as I've recently recommended this workout to several friends. My stability ball has survived two moves and is still going strong. Overall I was very happy with this product and only wish that Gunnar made more workouts for me to buy.


love the ball

The ball is fantastic, it really takes out the boredom of regular sit-ups and crunches without straining your back.
The workouts however were a bit disappointing, there was no continuity you had to get up then down, stand by the ball, then sit on it, then stand again, then lie on it. It was very disjointed and prevented me from really getting into it, there weren't enough reps either so just as you got the hang of what to do you had to get into a completely different position again. I felt it was unprofessional and ineffective but I was very happy with ball and use it inconjunction with all my other workout dvd's when they start crunching and press-ups.

Aerobics Meets African Dance

A Rare Disappointment from Evolution

I love everything Marcus Irwin touches; his ideas are spot on, and he typically refrains from kitsch. His videos are fully fitness and form-focused. The background 'babes' or 'fantastic fours' are typically wholesome, clothed in fitness clothing (street clothes) and just come across as being fully engaged in what they are doing: teaching a real aerobics class.

This is the first disappointment I have had since starting with Evolution videos. The blocks are not clearly articulated. This may be due to Didier's English (quite frankly, I would have preferred the video in French, I know previous Evolution productions have been offered in German). He seems ill at east in front of the camera.

I have taken many W. African, Afro Samba and samba reggae and even Haitian/Caribbean dance. The moves Didier presents ARE decent, W. African variations of classic hi lo moves...so the concept behind the video is great. However, maybe due to Didier's authentically African/absent cueing (I have found this a problem in my classes), this is difficult to follow...anybody used to counting (uh, that would be MOST certified fitness instructors) will be sorely disappointed. Also, the blocks don't progress in any clear way, it feels like you are doing movement, stop, march, stop, okay now move, once again. Very disjointed.

Finally, this is the first time I have heard "sexy" and "seductive" used in an Evolution video. I am NO prude and I understand the cultural/social origins of W. African dance, including fertility connotations. However, this is an EVOLUTION production, not something out of Hollywood California, nor is it an anthropological examination on the role of procreation in W. African dance. The worst part is the girl they have as a backup dancer, his 'baby' Leslie. She can dance, to be sure, but her pants are falling off and the moves she does with Didier are overtly and unnecessarily sexualized. She also looks about twelve, which makes this even more disturbing. What is with the Slo-Mo of her hip grinding at the end of Intro? My ten year old daughter even rolled her eyes.

I do not like the cheap feel of this video. It seems tacky. Everything up until now has been total class. I am a huge fan of Steve, Lindsay, David, Robert, Rebecca and Marcus, can't wait to get my hands on Balasz's step workout. However, this DVD really disappointed me. What is Didier there for, to show sexy dance moves, to bump and grind with Leslie, to teach actual blocks you can implement in your hi-lo class...what IS the focus of this video?

I wouldn't go so far as to say I wouldn't buy this; it might be fun for some people, how much of a workout you can get when there is no momentum, I am not sure. However, if you are expecting the classy, fitness-forward sweatfest you normally get from Evolution, you will be left in a lurch by this production. If you want other types of DVD introductions to the aerobic component of W. African dance, I would suggest Debra Bono, Kukuwa for Caribbean based, and African Healing Dance with Wyoma for the choreographic/interpretive component.

These leggings are awesome. They are so comfortable and provide just the right amount of coverage. You can wear it just by itself or under a tunic or a dress. The material is soft and stretchy.

I have enjoyed these leggings so much since I received them as a gift for Christmas (along with KD's sultry sweater dress). I like where they hit me on my torso - not *so* low, like the annoying trendy jeans that seem to be made for 13 year old girls with no hips, and not so high that they give you a wierd line at your belly-button when you wear them under a dress. They're kind of like the 3rd bowl of porridge in "Goldilocks and the Three Bears": 'just right'. Because they're made with KD's signature stretch fabric, they cling to you gently, and move with you beautifully, without sagging at the knees or in the behind. I've gotten countless tights from Target, the Gap, etc. that end up sagging. Who needs sags and wrinkles to add to the junk in their trunk under a dress?! I sometimes wear these to do yoga, in the cooler months, and sometimes lounge in them around the house (my baby loves sitting in my lap when I'm wearing these!), but I also really enjoy wearing them under a dress with boots - you can totally dress them up or down, and they're great either way.

The Standard for Ballet Tops

KD Dance makes the best knit ballet tops hands down. I have several of these tops which never cease to please me. Plus my ballet teacher doesn't get on my case about not being able to see my form when wearing them, yet they are comfortable and once you put it on somehow you just feel like dancing. The soft elastic fabric just does that I guess. Cut on the smaller end so purchase a next size up if you're concerned about tightness.

Achieving six pack abs is a very common fitness goal for both men and women. Some people have the misconception that only men want six pack abs, but women want that flat and toned tummy too. i've been a runner for over 10 years, and wanted to add a little core and upper body strength for a change during this past winter, as i was mostly confined indoors. i have to be honest that i was already in pretty good shape, i'm not an ultra marathoner but would do a 15 mile run about once a week or every other week. this program was horribly tough. as a woman, my body actually skipped a cycle while i was doing it. now that i've finished and eased up on it (use it mainly for maintenance purposes), my body has resumed its normal pre Shaun T cycles.

the most difference i've seen is definitely in my upper arms/shoulders area. coincidentally i was away from my husband for a few months while following this program for work reasons. when he saw me he was actually taken aback and told me that my shoulders and upper arms are really pronounced. i guess i couldn't tell the difference; i saw myself every day. but he has since been inspired to be a Shaun T fan.


Best Workout Ever!!!

"Insane" is an understatement when it comes to describe this workout. Get ready to sweat and work every part of your body!!! First week is the hardest because you will be really sore. I do recommend the recovery drink after the workout. It does help with the sore muscles and you will feel better the next day after the workout. Shaun T will keep you motivated. Insanity is never boring! This workout will push you to the limit, but it will absolutely get you in good shape. "Dig deeper" people!!!!!

No, I was not in awesome or even great shape when I started this, like most people who seem into this workout. And I should mention I am only on Week 3, but the results are AMAZING, already.
What I love about INSANITY is that I really feel like I have accomplished something at the end of each workout. I see the results in my body (I take a photo of myself at the beginning of each week as a reminder).
The important things to know are: 1) it's okay to modify the exercise (assuming you are familiar with the techniques) if you don't quite have the physical strength yet, 2) knowing some good breathing techniques will help you immensely, because this will really push you to the limit, 3) Go at your own pace, because whatever it is, it will still give you results, 4)you absolutely must be good to your body...no hard landings.
I see the most dramatic change so far in my core. Everything is stronger, tighter. I think you need to be able to do a boot camp style workout in order to be able to do this successfully. I took one at my local gym before starting this and I am really glad I did because this is way more intense.
In addition to the physical changes, I have to say there is an emotional boost to doing this. I feel awesome about how much I have improved already, and just how I am doing something that makes me really sweat.
My only, paltry gripe is that I wish the meal plan had some on the go style options, because I am a grad student and I have to eat on the go a lot.

This Ain't No Dance Video

Open the asylum. Shaun T's Insanity from Beachbody provides one of the most grueling cardio programs available. Shaun T. enjoys great popularity with his body shaping dance videos. Insanity is something altogether different. Hear me, this is not a weight loss program and it is NOT designed for the sedentary. Insanity's 60 day program builds endurance and strength for the serious athlete or the exercise enthusiast.

The good news is once you buy the DVDs you do not need to purchase anything more to successfully complete the routines. A nutrition guide comes with program. I highly recommend you follow it to achieve maximum results. Other suggestions include: wear a good pair of cross trainer shoes, use an exercise mat and work out in a place where you can sweat profusely, as you will perspire like rain during the daily exercises.

I've been reading reviews of the Insanity program from various sources. It's clear to me that like many things in life, you get what you put into it. I took a lot away from the 60 day challenge. I found this to be as mentally and physically challenging as anything I've ever encountered. Physically, I am now at a personal peak. Furthermore, I improved on my Fit Test at each two week interval and made significant gains from beginning to end.

It wasn't a joy ride, though. I sustained minor injuries to my toe, hand, and wrist, as well as irritating my right knee. So many times I wanted to stop, not just the program overall, but actually stop mid-exercise. I wanted to throw up my hands and scream, "Why am I torturing myself?" Honestly, I can't tell you how I found the will in those moments to "dig deeper," but somehow I did. However, I can unequivocally tell you I am thrilled I did. Now, not only do I feel good, but I know there is something inside of me that can go further and push harder.

Ladies, The advice professional trainers are giving now, is to break up your workout routines. The body is very smart on adapting to exercise workouts, the body is a wonderful, efficient machine. Do you struggle to lift your arms or drive, NO, there is no effort 'cause it is a routine task you do over/over/over. We must, I repeat, we must challenge our bodies out of the routine mode. Unfortunately, as we age, the metabolism slows down, it crawls after 45+ years. Look at most of the female (35+) shapes in the grocery stores & malls. 80% have large waist & flabby arms. I used to walk, spring - fall in my 30's. Of course I had the same old walking routine (easy going pace), sure it kept the pounds off when I was in my 30's, but not my 40's. Waist got bigger and arms got fat & flabby, and I had bra back flab, yuck!
Well, I got introduced to weight training (1x, now 3x week) & using Leslie Sansone DVD's. Over two years I lost 25 pounds and my waist is trim and so are my arms/shoulders/back. I went from size 14 to 8-10. And of course I eat better, food is energy for my body, not a license to pig out. I do admit to chocolate, hey I am still a woman with hormones! No barbie weights from me.....challenge to increase 10lbs to 15 lbs on each arm for certain exercises. I want my metabolism to burn like a furnace! Now I am looking to cardio interval training to shake up my indoor walking routine. I now understand the concept of 'challenging the body', which is also good for the brain as well.


Petra's personality does not work for me

Petra Kolber has demonstrated 3 levels of intensity: with her as the least intense and the 2 back ups as medium and hard respectively.
If you are an apartment dweller, this is not recommended because she uses floor space: grapevines, wide strides.
I have a personal issues with her old fashioned perkiness. I use her work-out if I want a break from my favorites.

I tend to use the DVD more often for the bonus John Baptiste 1o minute tune up yoga. Salutations, upward dog, downward dog, Warrior 1, 2, forward and reverse triangle.

Love Petra, like the video

I had a lot of Petra's VHS and just love her (Dance Step should be put on DVD, by the way). She is easy to follow, encouraging and positive, but not annoying. The program definitely gives you a good workout - and you can vary how intense you want to go. Although I am not an exercise fanatic (age 38, working mother) I would have liked more weight training. Overall, I like it.


A Great Interval Training Workout!

I recently had read about how Interval Training was a very effective way to keep your heart healthy, but I didn't own any exercise equipment (you know, the kind you see at the gyms with the interval training option), so I stubbled across this video at the library. I REALLY like it. It truly is an interval training workout. She gets your heart rate up slowly, makes it work hard for a "power burst" of one minute and then slows you back down just to repeat it all over again several times. GREAT concept, and FANTASTIC workout. A true interval trainer's dream!

HOWEVER, if you are not very coordinated or you aren't naturally inclined to learn workout "routines" then you may want to look elsewhere for a good workout. This video moves fast, so if can't learn steps quickly then you may just get frustrated that you bought it.

Best workout I've ever had!

I really can't say enough good things about this!! As a rule, I dread the task of exercising, and avoid it whenever possible. This dvd is so different than any other I've tried (you name it, I suffered through it), and with it's totally unique moves, it's actually INTERESTING. It somehow makes it almost fun. I can't believe I'm saying that.
The moves feel like stretches (which I also usually don't like doing), and not really like a workout at all, initially. They feel GOOD in a way. You're barely moving, and thinking, "This is nothing!", but 10 seconds later you realize you're getting the workout of a lifetime! It's definitely more of a strength training dvd than aerobic, and I swear to god I saw results in my triceps after 4 sessions. You don't need a bar, just a chair, some big cans of tomato sauce (or whathaveyou) for weights, and a towel. The 54 minutes just flies by, Burr is awesome, and I can't wait to try more of her stuff. Try it, I really think you'll be completely amazed!

Great intense cardio

This is my first beachbody purchase and I am pleased with it. Chalene makes it fun and entertaining and the music is awesome. Since this is mainly cardio, you will still have to fit in some weight training on the side.

I took away 1 star because it is dancey and you cannot just jump into a workout and do it. You have to learn the steps before starting a class (it has a new to class option specifically for learning the moves) and I'm not crazy about having to learn choreography just to workout. After learning the moves, it gets easier since the moves are repeated many times in a workout. If you are looking for just athletic simple to the point moves or you are uncoordinated, this may not be the workout for you, and you might find Turbo Fire frustrating. I also do not like that commercials are littered all through out the dvds, peddling the shakes, drinks and other beachbody programs. After each workout stretch sessions follow to keep you flexible and injury free.

I have just the basic package which is 12 weeks long. Advanced workouts can be purchased separately. If you do get the basic you will still need to get an resistance tube to do the ab work.

Since this is so intense, I would strongly advise getting the ok from your doctor before starting this system! I know some people ignore that for some exercise programs (cause I have, lol) but since this one is so intense, you need to make sure that you are healthy enough to do this. People with high blood pressure, joint issues need to proceed with caution.


Great Workout

I have only used it twice so far because I just received it but it is pretty intense. I workout out about 6 days a week and think of myself as being pretty fit but the first day I got it I didn't have a lot of time so I only did the HIIT 15 and within the first few minutes I was already sweating. I am planning to do this program in the morning before I go to work then I will do weight training (2-3 a week) at night and also run (training) 3 nights a week. I think Charlene is great and the class keeps you interested. This is a kick-your-butt workout so if you're ready to sweat then get it. I think if you follow these workouts and also eat healthy you will def. see results. I am not looking to lose that much weight (maybe 5-7 pounds) but I really want to tone up more so doing this and weight training will really help me. Hope my review will help you with you decision.


Chalene does it again!

I have been using Beachbody products for 6yrs now. They helped me get back in shape after each one of my 3 kids. I started using Turbo Jam about a year and a half ago and after a couple of times, I got addicted! I started using Turbo Jam on my cardio days but I noticed that they started to feel easier and I wasn't challenged anymore. Turbo Fire came just in time! It took my workouts to a whole new level. I love the music, the moves, everything! I am currently doing Chalene Extreme and alternating Turbo Fire on cardio days - love it! It is not for the beginner, if you are just starting out, I would recommend starting with Turbo Jam. And if you don't like high intensity workouts, this may not be for you. If you are looking for a workout that is fun, challenging yet doable, then this is it! You won't regret it! Caution: You may have the songs in your head all day long after every workout! And you may be addicted!


Amazing!

I'm a HUGE fan of Beachbody workouts. I'm completed Insanity, Turbo Jam, Chalean Xtreme - All with great results! Chalene Johnson is a great trainer with wonderful music. This workout will make you sweat and drop weight FAST! I've been doing it for the past four and a half weeks and I've already soared right on over the plateu that I was stuck at for so long. I would recommend this product to everyone who can handle high intensity workouts. I know a lot of people complain about knee issues but if you are wearing the right sneakers (I've never had a problem with my Nike's, but I'm a huge shox fan) and keep your knees behind/in line with your ankles, you shouldn't have a problem! You won't be upset when you see the results!

HiiT stands for High Intensity Interval training and is hands down one of the best ways to burn fat without causing your body to catabolize your own muscle tissue.
HiiT features three different high intensity routines that are all right around 30 minutes or less making these workouts perfect for you to use on days where you're short on time.
The first HiiT workout is 30/30, and as the title suggests, each interval is divided into 30 second high energy, plyo reps, followed by an equal 30 second rest for a total of 16 tough intervals.

Gargling my heart... in a good way

Wow, this workout is no joke. The first time I tried the 30/30 I had to pause it for a few extra seconds in between the exercises to keep my passing out! What the heck? I am in good shape... or so I thought. I haven't done much HIIT workouts though. I used to try it with running. I'd do about 1 minute of running full blast and then 1 minute of rest (walking). But this is far more intense. My heart rate was through the roof. Cathe is a good instructor who gives good explanations without talking too much. She is also a freckin beast! She hardly ever seems out of breath. The pyramid starts with 20 seconds of exercise, then 20 seconds of rest. It adds 5 seconds to each until you get up to 40. Then you work your way back down. They you get a one minute rest and do it all over again. Then there is the 40/20 which is definetely only for people in amazing cardiovascular shape! My hat goes off to you if you can get through it without taking additional breaks. As another reviewer mentioned, this one requires changing out your risers in your step throughout. The 30/30 keeps the step at the same height. The pyramid doesn't require the step. I like that. I am not the biggest fan of using my step. I understand it adds intensity to workouts, but I find myself getting quite clumsy over it. I got confused with the foot work of the warm up for the 30/30 because it's all off the step. I just make sure even if I'm not getting every step right,I'm moving enough to get myself warmed up.

This is a great, compact workout that I would recconmend to anyone trying to lose weight or just get in better cardiovascular health. Combine this with some weight training, and you should be dropping pounds in no time! Good luck!


What a work out!

There are three workouts and each is fantastic. If you are not serious about working up a sweat then this is not for you. A great way to mix up existing home workouts. Good combinations of moves. Remember you get out of the workout what you choose to put into it. These can be intense if you go for it.


A New Favorite!

It is rare that I do an exercise DVD and run back to Amazon to review it immediately, but felt I had to share what I feel is the best DVD out there for intense cardio . I have been searching for a really good cardio routine that does not include weights (I already have several weight training DVDs) and came across Cathe's HiiT. I know a bit about Hiit and was trying to do interval training using my Garmin watch on my own, but when I found this DVD I knew it would be a good investment. I was not wrong. I started out with the 30/30 Intervals, which is easiest of the three on the DVD. But, by no means easy. If anyone has done Jillian Michaels Banish Fat- this HiiT is that times 1000 as far as intensity, but is packed into a shorther amount of time. The workout flew by and my shirt was drenched in sweat. I would like to get to the point where I could do two of the workouts back to back but for now, just sticking with one at a time.

The only negatives I can think of:
1)I actually wish that the segments were just two or three exercises longer(I know crazy, right??)
2)Also-during the Pyramid Wave there is a funny "type-O"-the segments show a preview on the bottom of the screen for the next exercise, instead of "Mountain Climber" on the bottom it says "Moutain Climber" just chuckled at that a bit-Didn't bother me or keep me from thinking this is one of the best DVD's ever.
3)This DVD is NOT for beginners, and there are hardly any modifications given, but as another reviewer said you can kind of make up your own, but I suppose it would be nice for beginners to have visual modification.
If you are really serious about losing weight and not wasting time with DVDs that do not push you out of your comfort zone, or if you hit a plateau, this DVD is your best choice.


Intensity routines at their best!

This DVD is part of Cathe's Shock Cardio Series. It's the most intense of the series; it's also my favorite. After being disappointed in some of the other workouts in the Shock Cardio series, I'm happy to say these workouts live up to the intensity and energy that I expect from Cathe.

I enjoyed all 3 workouts: the 40/20, the 30/30 and the Double Wave Pyramid. I think the Double Wave Pyramid is my favorite, since it doesn't use any equipment.

I'm an advanced exerciser, but I can no longer do a lot of high impact. Even with my low impact modifications, my heart rate was at the high end of my aerobic range for all workouts. Cathe doesn't give many modifications, but I was completely okay with that, I made up my own. For example, if she was doing a tuck jump, I would rise up on my toes and reach my hands towards the ceiling.

More specifics on what I loved:

**music was upbeat and peppy and this really helps me get through the workouts.
**Cathe is her energetic and encouraging self.
**cast members (Cedie, Brenda, Deazie and Lorraine) had good chemistry. I loved watching them high-five each other throughout the workout.
**workouts flew by! I was disappointed to have them end.
**30 minutes for each workout was perfect. I could really give it my all for the entire time.
**the timer at the bottom of the screen, showing length of interval and then length of rest.
**quick warm-up and adequate cool down. Unlike some of the other Shock Cardios, which seemed to me to have an endless warm-up (over 10 minutes) and no cool down, the timing of these was just right for me.

A minor thing (and it IS minor), the workout order on the DVD is: 40/20, 30/30 and Double Wave Pyramid. However, on the back of the DVD, the order is: 30/30, 40/20 and Double Wave Pyramid. The English major in me likes to have the descriptions consistent with the actual order. As I said, this is no big deal and certainly doesn't detract from the workouts.

So far, this is my favorite DVD of the Shock Cardio series. This is definitely for the advanced exerciser. An intermediate exerciser should be very familiar with lower impact modifications before attempting this workout.


HiiT workout to-go

This is the 1st HiiT dvd ever! I love Cathe, she's fun and friendly. I use this DVD specially when I travel particularly the Double Wave Pyramid since you don't need any fitness equipment to do it. It is intense and since it is HiiT, you know you're still burning calories even when you're at rest or done with your workout and you're not catabolizing muscle.

Shaun T, who is famous for the workout program Hip Hop Abs, has released another program through Beachbody called Insanity. The Insanity workout is totally different from the Hip Hop Abs workout and is being labeled as the hardest workout program ever put on a DVD. In this new workout program Shaun T utilizes his technique of burning the most amount of calories in an hour called MAX interval training.

What exactly is MAX interval training?

You may have about interval training before, but MAX interval training is most likely new to you. What the Insanity workout does, is it pushes you to your maximum. Shaun T took regular interval training and basically pumped it up about ten notches. MAX interval training involves longer bursts of high-intensity exercises followed by smaller rests periods. Most interval training programs that have been done before had shorter high-intensity bursts with longer resting periods. So, instead of doing a minute of constant knee lifts, with Insanity you may be doing 3 minutes of constant knee lifts. With the Insanity workout you alternate between aerobic intervals and anaerobic intervals, so you body is constantly challenged with new exercises.

What are the benefits of MAX interval training?

The benefits of MAX interval training are plentiful. According to the Insanity workout, an average person can burn up to 1000 calories an hour with the MAX interval training. That is twice what some normal workouts can burn in an hour. When you burn more calories per hour, you are going to lose weight faster and tone your body much faster. Shaun T's Insanity claims that you can easily reshape your body in 60 days if you follow the workout schedule as it is laid out.

Another benefit of MAX interval training is that even after you are done working out you are still going to burning calories, even while you sleep. MAX interval training will speed up your metabolism, even when you are at a resting rate. This means that while you are sleeping, you could be burning twice as many calories as you normally would just from doing your Insanity workout that day. With this kind of interval training, your body is constantly challenged, which is why it will still burn calories even after your workout is over. Also, you don't have to worry about weight loss plateaus with the Insanity workout, as you can easily keep jump starting your weight loss every week.

The workout develops lean muscle, which even though it may weight slightly more than fat, it burns calories at a much faster pace. Your body also looks a lot more toned and healthier when you have nice lean muscle rather than excess fat. With the Insanity workout you are able to get the six pack abs that you may have always dreamed off if you follow the workout program to the tee. This also includes proper nutrition as well as the keeping up with the workouts.

MAX interval training goes up and above the normal interval training that you may be used to. It will challenge you and it takes plenty of effort as it is not easy to do, but the benefits are numerous.

6 Years Later I Still Love It

I've been working out to this DVD for 6 years, and it still pushes me. Karen Voight gives suggestions for changing the difficulty levels on the exercises, and her timely little reminders to keep your tummy tucked in or square your shoulders keep me on track. I have solid abs, no back pain, and a firmer butt. The best part- I can do the entire DVD in 20 minutes from warm up to cool down. I highly recommend this as the best workout DVD for beginners to those just looking to maintain. It's the best money I've ever spent on exercise.


Ok, could have been better

I have other videos of Karens and so I am very familar with her teaching style and workouts. I found this particular workout to be on the easy side for her. Many of her workouts are challenging and you feel it after but this was not that challenging for me and the length was short.
I have done stability ball workouts from a fitness show on tv that were much more challenging.


Short but boring

I'm giving this DVD 4 stars because it was what I wanted...a short workout for when I'm pressed for time. But other than that, I am agreeing with everyone who said it was boring, because it is. I have another of Karen's videos and it is shot on a beach with fabulous scenery and it just changes the whole tone of the video. This one is just blah with a boring set and boring music. It's okay for what I wanted it for, but if you're looking for something jazzy and motivating, keep looking.

Great for Getting Started!!

If you are trying to get a new workout routine going or just want to try something else this DVD is awesome! The 10 min workouts are an easy way to make sure you get in a little bit each day. Honestly, though, there have been several times when I said I would just do 2 and before I knew it I'd done all 5 workouts. It feels so good and the flexibility routine is a good way to strech out the muscles after each workout. As an additional note, if you're looking for an intense workout or specifically want to tone something this may not be the right dvd for you. It is intense on endurance but it will still help you tone and trim a little.


Excellent for the Novice

I have bought the 10 minute solution DVD's because as a single mom who works full-time I have very little time for me and I don't have the convenience of going to the gym. These workouts are great. I use them more for getting up and moving than thinking they are going to re-create my body. I feel great and I actually can see results in terms of toning muscles. I usually do 2 or 3 workouts at a time and I generally work up a sweat when I put my heart and soul into them. My favorite workouts are the ones using the fitness ball. They are not so difficult that a novice can't use them but I am sure they are not what you would be looking for if you are an expert. I love this DVD and wish there were a few more out there I could buy.


Good workouts between ballates classes

This DVD is a good product. I especially like the fact that you can customize your workout. The Upper body and core workouts are my favorites. They could be a little more challenging but you can feel that your muscles are working. The teacher is very nice, you feel like working with a friend...The music is a bit dull.

It's a good solution when I want to exercice between my ballate classes.

This is a perfect workout for me- it's fast, effective, you can mix & match workouts, & she is an excellent teacher. It's a good DVD, and doesn't overwhelm you like a lot of others. Good exercises for beginners. She is very chatty, and sometimes her voice is just plain creepy. But she does keep you motivated.


Great workout!

I love Denise Austin's videos, I have her pilatese video as well! Her video has a great deal of arm strengthening exercises, which is good, however I personally was looking for even MORE abdominal exercises than were presented in the video. In general this video is a great workout especially when used in combination with some serious cardio. I believe that anyone can see results with this video, but a healthy diet and cardio are definitely required. Unlike Jillian's videos where you get a total kick in the butt after one workout.


Excellent Toning!

I love this workout DVD for toning, and accomplishes what you need to tone up those trouble zones! I have never really experienced working with the stability ball, but this DVD has me hooked! I just love Denise- she is motivating and very genuine. I think her videos are the best and because she switches up the exercises so frequently- you are like- wow am I done already? And then I feel so motivated, I do another segment, video or take a walk. So in addition to finding her DVDs very user friendly (especially trying to get back into shape), it really has helped motivate me for weight loss and exercise beyond the time using the DVD. One word to the naysayers- if you don't like her personality- why did you buy the DVD? She has been doing this 20+ years and she is who she is and I love her for it!


Love it

I got this video a long time ago and loved it. However it has been changed since the original copy was made. One of my favorite squat exercises was removed. Gives a good overall body workout and shows results if you keep up on it. I have always loved this video. I lost my first copy and had to buy it again


Good toning video

This is a good toning and strength training DVD if you already have a cardio DVD. It is good alternate this DVD with a fat-burning DVD. You will need two hand weights and a stability ball for this DVD. Stability ball really makes the workouts more effective. After using this DVD for several days, I realize how out of shape my abs are. I have no problems with the upperbody and lowerbody workouts, but the ab workout really kills me.

Dust off the Stability ball - if you are looking for a differnt style exercise for it

I had a bit of trouble with my rating because there are several issues I can see using the term "for beginners" with this DVD.....

Beginners -- well to Pilates? Stability ball? Exercise in general? Depending on what you pick I would give a different answer.

Pilates -- I would say Yes - I own maybe one other Pilates and do not use it, so at least this caught my attention enough not to give it away. I felt the instructions were clear, demonstrated well and easy to follow. I would say a beginner could follow this.

Stability ball -- sitting on the fence on this one. I got this because I just don't have many DVD's for the ball and wanted to expand the use of the equipment. That said she is OK on the basic instructions. I think someone who has never used the stability ball could be unstable and would tend to give up.

Exercise in general -- No I would not say beginner - I could see trying to stabilize on the ball and follow the Pilates moves would send the user to the floor more than once.

I think this is a nice workout with great moves for toning, flexibility, and breathing techniques. It has the capability to bring your heart rate up. It is a nice add for an experienced fit persons library.

I really enjoyed this workout. Lizbeth Garcia is great teacher, she makes it comfortable for the audience to be there even though we are in our homes. Some instructors are loud and obnoxious, Lizbeth is the total opposite. You will enjoy it.


Challenging but do-able

I use this DVD on the days when I don't feel like exercising. I listen to Lizbeth Garcia's encouraging voice and then I push myself to do it. The movements are challenging, but you know what? If you can't do it (i.e. teaser on the ball), then you roll up to the point where you feel comfortable. It's a very relaxing way to do pilates. The DVD is 30 minutes long with 8 minutes of extra bonus (they are even more challenging.) Very do-able and very effective.

Fast Results

I've been alternating the upper and lower body dvds as well as throwing in the abs workout and adding the Code Red a couple times a week for the past 6 weeks. I have also been walking 3-5 miles 3 times a week and closely monitoring my diet.
Results: I am 5'8" and started out at 159 lbs (I have a 5 month old and did absolutely nothing but eat during my pregnancy and got up to 180lbs. My normal weight is around 140lb. I've lost about 15lb and 5 inches in my hips and 3 inches in my waist and I have gained so much energy. In fact, I am about to purchase Chalean's Turbo Fire because I've really come to enjoy working out and I want to take it to the next level.
Now the cons...the music is crummy and Barry can be incredibly obnoxious. I really like Cindy, the trainer who is actually performing the excersises with you. I also wish it didn't require all the extras like the transformer and power handles. Storage is scarce in my house and the really take up a lot of room.

All in all, it is a great workout and a really great starting point b/c every excersise is modified for beginner, intermediate, and advanced.


Best Workout to Lose Inches

I recently bought this system and I am SHOCKED by the results. After the first six workouts, I lost an inch off my hips & waist. Keep in mind, I'm not new to exercise and I'm within 5 pounds of my goal weight. It's an intense workout, but it's worth the effort. I'm so glad I bought it!


Great Program but DANGEROUS

A couple weeks into this program, which I otherwise like a lot, the black resistance band broke suddenly while I was exercising, and nearly took out my left eye. Vision is still blurry and I hope it heals up fine but thought I'd warn others that this product has a serious flaw. I may resume with the green band but I'll be wearing racket ball eye protection. This product should not be sold, in my view, until this problem is fixed. Not to mention that the black band broke after only a couple of weeks!


Very good product, but pretty difficult

I don't know if I am pushing too hard, but this thing kicks my butt.

I have only been doing it for two weeks, just alternating the upper and lower workouts (taking off two days a week randomly). I see pretty drastic changes already, especially in the wife. We are not losing weight, but seriously shaping up.

If I were coaching a tennis, soccer, baseball team, I would buy 10 of these and start off the practice with this workout...it can be found for about 20 bucks on another site.


equipment keeps breaking

This seems to be a great workout DVD system, and I do like doing it but my equipment keeps breaking! I have never been able to make it through a full 30 days because something breaks everytime. Within the first couple days, I believe day 3, the "Transformer" exploded while I was using it. Because I was within my trial period the company did replace this at no cost to me. Also, the DVD's were not the best quality the mission specialists on both DVD's skip badly. So, I get my replacement transformer and try to start again, this time the power handle resistance band snapped. By this time my trial period was over and I had to replace this at my own cost, another $10. I really liked the workout so I paid it. But, here I am again, Day 8 and another resistance band has snapped. I will not be replacing it again, I will just go to the store and get a better quality one that may last more than a week! To conclude, I really do enjoy the workout but expect to replace your equipment to be able to continue these workouts.

The stability ball is great. I think it is a good quality and I like the DVD that came with it. We are using these to sit on at work at our desks as a health initiative. It is working well for everyone.


Prettier than it looks!

The picture does not do the ball justice. In the picture it looks dull and murky and not nice. It's actually very pretty! A nice, rich, shiny purple. Very happy about that!

I'm rating this ball with 5 stars overall, but I'll do a bit of a breakdown on how I rate individual aspects of this purchase.

The ball itself: 5 stars - Like I said, it's gorgeous, seems very well made, and seems sturdy. I just got this ball today, so I don't know how it holds up over time.

Shipping: 5 stars - Ordered it the night of the 13th, got Free Super Saving Shipping (ordered another item), it was processed and sent on the 14th, and received it today on the 18th. Considering the 15th and 16th were Saturday and Sunday, I consider that remarkably good shipping time.

Instructions: 1 star - There weren't any. At least not for how to pump the silly thing up. Finally had to look it up online. Mildly frustrating.

The foot pump: 3 stars - Once you read the online instructions on how to use the pump, it's very simple to use. But VERY poorly made. The plastic hose has a seam, which wasn't properly sealed, so it had a hole in one part of it. I taped it up with some masking tape and it worked just fine. For being brand new, I feel I shouldn't need to make repairs to things prior to use. Took me less than 10 minutes to pump it up.

Packaging: 5 stars - Everything was neatly packaged and I found no damage to the box or product.

So overall, I'm completely satisfied with my purchase.

Good Ball, Horrible DVD

I've been buying exercise balls left and right trying to find a good one. Most were too small, or too cushy. I found this one on sale at Big 5 and it's definitely got the most stability and I don't feel my knees coming up when I sit on it. However, the DVD that comes with it was cheaply made and the instructor is boring and not very thorough. She teaches you things like lunges, but only on one side before the DVD cuts to the next exercise, where she's already set up.

Would have given it four stars if not for the DVD.

Not sure if Amazon sells the GoFit "Premium". GoFit "Premium" was the only one, other than the GoFit "Pro" (available from Amazon), that resembled health club quality to me. Yet, "Premium" was only a fraction of the price and best value for it's 1,000 lb weight capacity, low odor and sturdy material. The "Ultimate" model in this Amazon listing is rated at only 600 lbs. Some balls have "burst-resistant" or "xxxx lbs. weight rated" on the package. The so called "burst-resistant" Everlast 75cm was only rated to 330 lbs compared to the GoFit "Premium" rated at 1,000 lbs. "Burst-resistant" supposedly means that the ball will not suddenly deflate. A higher weight rating seemed more relevant to me. The GoFit Pro is rated at 1,200 lbs but was three times the price. Two other ways to measure the quality: Open the box an rub two layers between thumb and index finger, or, compare the deflated ball weights in each hand. I believe that GoFit Premium and GoFit Pro will be more puncture resistant than the others owing to heavier, thicker material. Both should also be highly suitable for chair use.

Textures and weight: smooth vs. textured. All the store brands, including the GoFit "Ultimate" had textured material. Only GoFit "Premium" and "Pro"models have smooth material. I prefer the smooth vs. the sticky rough material for several reasons. Ease of cleaning; did not stick to my body; thicker material; seemed less likely to puncture. Note: Ultra-light weight, high end backpacking tents are now made of thinner, lighter , costlier materials, so light weight doesn't always correlate to low quality or low strength. Still, my expensive Mountain HardWear, although light and strong, does puncture easily. GoFit "Premium"= 1,000 lb weight vs. Everlast ex3584ye10LtKRB = 330 lbs Vs. GoFit "ultimate" = 600 lbs. Others- not weight rated on box.

Valve: There is only a hole, not a true "valve", in most of these fitness balls. Make sure that your ball comes with at least one plastic plug in the box. My GoFit "Premium" had one already inserted in the air entry plus a spare. Nothing worse than pumping these things up and finding out that the plug is missing.

Core Stability vs. Fitness vs. Therapy balls: Seems to be different names for the same thing. Correct me if I am wrong here.

DVD's: Both the GoFit "Premium" and the "Ultimate" came with a 25 min "Linda Leene" DVD. The Everlast comes with a DVD entitled "Greatness is Within", EX3582, unknown running time. I did not watch either video. FORM, FORM. Technique and Form: It is most worthy to note that proper technique and form are required when exercising. I had the benefit of a physical therapist to correct me. What seemed intuitive on my own was actually not correct form at all. I am strengthening quads, hamstrings and core muscles. It is probably well worth a few dollars to have a professional observe and correct your form and technique from the start. Anyone can do it right at any age. Also, performing certain exercises in combination with a MediCare approved neoro-muscular-stimulator will boost your re-hab. If your MD prescribes an electrical NMI, and your P-T trains you in it's use then use it at home in combination with your ball, and perhaps ankle weight straps. Just remember, form is everything. Go easy the first few weeks. Your progress will amaze you in just a few weeks. You can watch a DVD but that is probably no better than reading an exercise pamphlet. If you have children, by all means, get interested in using a ball at an early age. Many injuries can be prevented in the first place if the body is well toned. Balls work many groups of muscles at once. They are the single best life long friend anyone can have at any age.

Pumps: My choice, GoFit "Premium" came with a foot, rater than a hand pump, although the pump was not a deciding factor for me. "Ultimate" and "Premium" comes with the same pump, a foot operated bellows type. The G-F bellows foot pump is nothing to write home about and appears disposable in quality... but, it worked very well one time. Simply plug the included poly ribbed hose in to the bellows, then select the included nozzle to fit the ball inlet. Insert and pump by foot. Toward the end of the pumping, I had to use the bellows like an accordion between my hands. I may have over-inflated it. No instructions for filling were in the box. Other evaluators have mentioned that you should inflate partially and leave over-night until the storage wrinkles disappear. I pumped away until right out of the box trying to rid the wrinkles. Go with the two stage , overnight method to avoid over stretching the ball in the first pumping. The other brands had hand pumps. If you need to fill and deflate for storage often, then buy a high volume electric air mattress pump. They are cheap and come with suction mode for deflation. Do not use a high pressure tire pump because they will take to long and can easily damage the ball.

Odors and volatiles: The GoFit "Premium" was totally free of volatile odors detectable to me. If you have high sensitivity to volatiles, understand that some are odorless. Generally, I always choose natural over synthetics whenever I can. Not an option for me in my three green Lincolns sale price range. The Everlast, made of thin, textured material had a strong odor in the wrapper. This one went right back on the shelf.

Great Ball, Great Accessories, Great Price!

The title says it all. My only complaint is that the stem that holds in the air is difficult to remove even with the little tool they provide. I suppose if it came out too easily my complaint would be much more negative because then it wouldn't stay inflated so I will accept this lesser of the two evils. Comes in a neat box with the accessories that stores nicely under my desk (I keep it at work to sit on) and keeps my foot pump at the ready whenever needed.


Good ball

It is a great ball. I use it to sit on it and do my work or exercise with it. Also, what I can't understand it said it is 600-pound body ball but when I bought it..it was written for 300-pound body ball. Other than that the ball is the same exact thing in the picture.

Just got this excercise ball and it's really nice. One question though, what does 75cm mean? I measured the inflated ball and it measured 50 cm (20 inches) high and 165 cm (65 inches) in diameter. I wanted a taller ball with more width, but this one is really nice if you are looking for one 20 inches high.

I purchased this ball for 2 reasons, 1. I am about 6ft tall and it does go by height, when you use one in a gym they don't often have one sized for tall people. 2. If has a 600 lb limit...not that I am 600 lbs, but I am heavier and I wanted to know I had a sturdy ball, beyond my weight. It was easier to pump up than I thought, there were no instructions per se, but it's not rocket science. I noticed afterward there was an instruction on the plastic covering the pump on which end to place the tubing. The pumping just takes a little time, and I am so glad they give you the tape to measure the circumference, or I would never have blown it up enough. You think it looks done and you still have a ways to go. I was still shy about 5 or 6 inches, but it seemed good. I like that they give you a little tool to lift the pin out of the ball to start pumping, and they give you an extra pin in case you lose it. The DVD is one of those mini ones, I haven't looked at it yet. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

The ball is much smaller than I thought it would be. The DVD is so fast paced that by the time you arrive in the positions the instructor is already out of them. The abrupt ending to the program is absolutely terrible... It is an OK work out, but I do not like the DVD.


Not worth the money

This product is a joke - its not worth the money asked for - the DVD in the box did not contain enough and barely required the ball to do the exercises - I actually thought that I was purchasing a pilates squishy ball not a hard unweighted ball. I do not recommend the purchase of this product.


Disappointment

Although I am looking forward to utilizing this ball, the DVD was a BIG disappointment. Most of the exercises are contraindicated for anyone with degenerative disc disease in the cervicals and/or the lumbars and vertebral stenosis.

good intentions bad photos

I think the excersises would be very beneficial. Problem is the black and white photos are small and hard to make out. The written descriptions are fine as far as they go but it's hard to know exactly how to do them without better photos.

i am a personal trainer, and have just taken up golf this summer...this book is basically a 6 -pt evaluation and has several exercises listed to fix each..really about 2 minutes of reading for someone with a reasonable knowledge of exercise..i was hoping that it would have some insightful biomechnic info, but it doesnt..eval was BASIC to say least.. good quick read maybe useful for someone w/ minimal exercise experience..not a fan of authors writing style humor..sorry.. it gave me a few idea

This is a terrific book. I wanted to take a Pilates class but didn't have time to join. This book has allowed me to do my own workout on my own time. It starts with the basics to make sure you are doing things properly. From there you can add more difficult or complicated exercises until you have a complete, challenging workout. This is the best workout ever!

Not that great

This book was okay, it wasn't anything spectacular. I had been doing pilates for about a year when I bought it because I wanted to try something new but this book really didn't challenge me all that much. I suggest Siler's Pilates Body instead which doesn't use a ball but is basically the best book on Pilates I have ever read.

This is a geat workout! But be aware all you Turbo Jamers, this is much more difficult then any of the other DVD's. I can pretty much breeze through the other DVD's, while this one left me panting and sore. Of course, this is a good thing!

What I really like about this DVD is that it is so different from the other Turbo Jam workouts. I really like Turbo Jam, but Jamers know that each DVD is pretty much the same; same movements just changed up a bit. Also, sometimes I feel that each section is just a little too repetitive. Not so with this DVD. This was a refreshing change. I like it!


Turgo Jam Total Body Blast

I just recently received this DVD did the workout and I can't believe I paid 42.99 for this, anybody know why this one was so expensive compared to her other workouts. I did break a sweat, probabley will do it again. I am big fan of her other DVD,s, I own 3 others. Maybey I expected so much more for the price I paid, I guess I feel ripped off, this one is not as fun to do. I would not recommend this DVD especially for the price you pay.


Fantastic Ball Workout!!!

I own most of the Turbo Jam videos, and today I did Total Body Blast for the first time and it was AMAZING! I love all of Chalene's videos, but this is the only one so far that has actually left my arms and shoulders feeling sore! I would have never known that a ball would make me work out even more than the weights! It's a longer workout, 60 minutes, but definitely worth every second!!! The entire 60 minutes are in intervals mixing cardio and abs, using the ball in every section, from warm-up to cool down!

Love it!!!!


Great DVD a must for Chalene Johnson lovers!

This workout is really great! I love how she works the ball in, some cardio, then ball work, back and forth. It is a 60 minute DVD, but really doesn't seem like it! It is a must to your Chalene Johnson collection. I wish she would do more DVD's with the ball. The ball gives you a really good workout! The music is good. This is another one that I include in my favs. You will want to add it to your collection.

This is the hardest and most intense of the turbo jam DVDs i love this video it is way better than the other ball DVD because you use it the who time i definitely recommend this video you will get an incredible work out! It sculpts the shoulders and the abs with some lunges as well.
