Nutrition is the New Competitive Advantage in Basketball
Coaching basketball is a very challenging and rewarding profession. Getting a job as a basketball coach on any level is also very competitive. No matter the level of play there is a demand on the coaches to produce results. Even at the high school level a coach will not survive long if their program continues to lose. Coaches are always looking for a way to get a competitive edge. Coaches will pay large amounts of money to go to coaching clinics or will study new coaching schemes. Yet, one of the areas that coaches haven't explored is the nutritional factor of their athletes.
Coaches will always do everything they can to get the best workout for their players. They will also look to get them into a weight lifting regiment. Yet, when it comes to what the players are putting into their bodies the coaches usually leave that decision up to the individual player. At some point each player has to take personal responsibility for making themselves into a better player. One of those responsibilities is to have a healthy diet.
It is very hard to force anyone to eat a certain diet; however, there is an easier way for coaches to increase the nutritional advantage that their players have. Increase the amount of protein that their players have in their diet. An increase in protein allows the players to create more lean muscle, which will increase their performance on the court, durability during a season, and over all endurance. The body almost never converts protein into fat, taking away any worry that a player would be getting too much protein in their diet.
There is also a simple metric for how much protein a player needs in their diet. The amount of protein that someone who is actively training should intake is equal to half of their body weight in grams. For example a person that weighs 180 pounds should have 90 grams worth of protein in their daily diet. That amount of protein is very difficult to accomplish through pure dieting.
Providing your players with whey protein is a very simple solution to improve the nutritional conditioning of your team. Whey protein is very cost effective, with good supplements providing at least 19 grams a serving. Isolated whey protein is also very low in fats, and consists of 90% pure protein. Whey protein is produced with dairy products that make it easier to metabolize than soy based protein products. Whey protein is very easy to use. There isn't any cycles or timetables that players need to follow. The players just need to take a certain number of servings per day depending on their weight.
This nutritional advantage is something that professional coaching staffs take very seriously, and a coach that will use the power of protein to their advantage will get a competitive edge over their competition. It is easy, legal and effective. Coaches should start to use protein to their advantage to gain a nutritional edge.

Stretching is one of the easiest exercises a women can do to make her body strong and fit. Stretching benefits the body by making the muscles supple and thus resistant to the wear and tear of strain and tension. It is why many people begin start their exercise routines with simple stretching to warm the muscles in preparation for more strenuous exercises.
However, the problem with stretching is that most people commonly take it for granted. Despite it being an easy workout, stretching is not given much importance, especially by women. As a result, instead of benefitting from stretching, the result is more damage to one's body including possible injuries.
How Can I Make Stretching Beneficial?
Stretching practices the muscle's ability to expand and retract. When the muscle is stretched too far, injuries are likely to follow. A muscle tear can be very painful.
The following tips should be followed during stretching to make it safest and most beneficial.
1)Wear comfortable and loose clothing. Make sure that the garments worn will not hamper the body's movement in any way.
2)Do stretching first thing in the morning. It is best to do when the sun is still not up or when the sun is barely on the horizon. A blow of fresh air and the warmth of the sun are beneficial factors during stretching.
3)Do stretching regularly. Routine will allow the body to get used to the exercise, thus enabling it to adjust well to changes exercising may bring.
4)Your muscles are not elastic rubber bands. Make sure to warm up first to avoid causing strain. As such, one should do simpler activities like a few minutes walking to warm up the leg muscles. On the other hand, when one is engaging in a very strenuous exercise routine, stretching is the best preparation. However, make sure to finish off your exercise with stretching to conclude the exercise routine.
5)Do not overdo it. This is most applicable for those who will embark on stretching for the first time or after a long layoff. One should listen to their body. When the body begins to ache or when it shows signs of fatigue, one must learn to stop to avoid further damage.
6)Moreover, a woman should do stretching in slightly increasing levels of intensity and difficulty. This is to give the body time to adjust to stretching patterns as well as to prevent injury by suddenly embarking in a heavy routine.
7)Do not do stretching after meals. This will not give you the most benefit because digestion will prevent you from fully executing your stretching routine. It is best to do it before breakfast. Avoid eating a great deal much after stretching.

- Captain's Chair. This workout is effective and must be included in your regular workout There may be several ways to do this but the basic objective is to build muscles around the oblique sections. You let your body dangle while being supported by your arms. Work kicks in when you start slow and repetitive lifting of your knees toward your chest.
- The Exercise Ball Crunch. You need a large rubber ball that looks like a balloon and about the size of your average hug. This love handle workout is unique because you let your body rest over the exercise ball instead of the floor. Work begins by pacing your feet flat on the floor while doing the crunch. This exercise works better with the rectus than the oblique.
- Vertical Leg Crunch. This workout looks somewhat similar to the leg raise. Except that your legs are always held up. Your abs muscles contract by lifting your shoulder blades up and lower it back to the floor. This love handle workout is equally good for both abdominal muscles.
- Torso Track. Although this exercise is equally effective, it must be done carefully. Otherwise it will break your back. You need an equipment for this and if you buy one, there should be instructions on how to use it correctly. This type of exercise favors more in working for the rectus.
These love handle workout techniques will be effective when done regularly over some period of time. Good nutrition and balanced diet must be in your list too. It is a must that once you get into this habit, it should be part of your lifestyle. Getting the right abdominal muscles will not only make you feel healthy but also improve your look and that level of self-esteem and confidence. Best results happen when done regularly and with the correct repetitions. And most importantly, while working out, breathe correctly.

An athletic uniform is to an athlete what a logo or a trademark is to a business. It not only gives him his unique identity but also makes him feel confident, comfortable and smart. There's so many positive things to say about this product it's hard to know where to begin. I'll try to avoid covering too much familiar ground of the other reviews. So let's start by saying this: It absolutely works. What's great about this program is that it addresses ALL your fitness needs. Whereas most workout videos/programs tend to focus on either strength training or cardio or flexibility or target specific areas, P90X does it all.
*And now for P90X Review*
Like someone already said, the packaging for all 13 DVDs is great, and no excess garbage cases. The Nutrition Guide is very informative and well written, and so is the Workout Book they include. I dont follow the food guide to the 'T' since i'm on a budget, but they include great recipes for pretty much anyone's taste.
The reason I included a review of the regular Power 90 was to express just how impressed I am with the improvement and greatness that the P90X routine is.

A great aspect of this workout program is the fact that you need very little to actually use it.
A few dumbbells you can find at Wal-Mart, a 10 dollar door frame chin-up bar and a good, strong chunk of willpower is just about all you need. If you're like me and wanted to get something to use on the road while you're away from your basement gym, this is perfect.
If you don't have a basement gym, this is still perfect.
Not everyone has the same body type, and the people performing for you on this DVD reflect that. The people run the gambit of body types, from taller and bigger to leaner. It does a great job showing results possible for several different body types.

I agree with all of the positive reviews described earlier for this product. This is the only "infomercial" product that I have ever purchased, and I did so because I could tell it was the real deal. No quick fixes, just a solid plan to follow for someone who is willing to work hard. A few thoughts:

Have you ever wondered why triathlon training sometimes never seems to make you faster? Perhaps you're at a plateau, or even seeing increasingly worse race times or performances. Maybe you just wrapped up the last season, and you simply feel like you didn't perform as well as you could have. If this describes you, then it is entirely possible that you've committed one of the top 11 triathlon training mistakes that the experts over at the Rock Star Triathlete Academy at have identified. Here's the list.
1. Never Throwing Curveballs. This error is committed by the triathletes who get into a "comfort rut" - simply mindlessly performing the exercises and workouts that allow them to mount a bike, strap on the running shoes, pull on the swimsuit or head to the gym and just cruise with no focus. They never throw a triathlon training curveball at their body, so their body eventually becomes incredibly efficient at these same ol' workouts. Sure, you should occasionally perform tried and true workouts that allow you to create a benchmark to identify progress in your training, but you don't want to do those workouts *all the time*. Here's a simple fix: this week, pick one training session for each skill (swim/bike/run/resistance training) and throw a complete triathlon training curveball at your body by randomly choosing a workout out of a magazine, article, or website. Do it, and see how your body responds. Nine times out of ten, a random workout that keeps your body guessing will make you leaner, stronger and faster.
2. Exercising to Eat If the goal of your triathlon training is simply to burn calories, so that you can get to your next meal or snack - then boy, are you in trouble! What happens is that this mentality creates a weekly slog of performing workouts that focus not on performance, but rather on "beating up your body". The result is injury, overtraining, mental fatigue, and boredom, along with a continuous vicious cycle of eating too much, then over-exercising to fix your errors. Try this: eat a healthy diet, stop when you are 80% full, and then completely forget about burning calories during your workout. Instead, focus on a specific performance goal for that triathlon training session, whether it be overspeed, muscular endurance, power, or strength. Your triathlon training will instantly become more meaningful and rewarding.
3. High Carb Diet from the 80's Are you still eating bagels with jam for breakfast, shoveling pasta down on a Friday night to get ready for your weekend long triathlon training, or eating big bowls of cereal for breakfast? This type of high carb fueling has been heavily associated with increasing your chronic disease risk factors, causing inflammation, GI distress and poor performance. Good fats and lean proteins will serve you much better. Next time you're at a coffeeshop, grab a bag of almonds and a cup of green tea, rather than a coffee and biscotti. You'll feel much better, and your energy and performance levels will soar.

A golf strength training workout routine may sound grueling and also time-consuming…but it doesn't need to be! I don't want you to feel overwhelmed at the idea of starting a program of this nature.
No Gym
You may think you need to join a gym to begin your routine but you don't. In fact…that could be the worse thing you do! The reason being a gym is full of machines. Machines typically have you sitting down. Machines also isolate usually one muscles group at a time…and in a controlled motion.
None of the above statements support improving your golf swing. Your golf swing is "on your feet", using multiple muscles in a certain sequence of motion, while controlling your body in space. Machines accomplish none of this!
Minimal Equipment
So if you don't need a gym…what do you need to get started on your new program? I can tell you emphatically I designed all my golf training dvds, manual and online golf training membership sites to incorporate minimal and very affordable equipment.
In fact, you can set up your entire golf fitness home gym for under $100 dollars! All you need is a stability ball, exercise tubing, hand weights and maybe a weighted medicine ball. No more…no less!
Simple Golf Exercises
Golf exercises can be very simple and easy…or you can make them very challenging and hard. The easiest way to get started is to break up the golf swing into phases. Take each phase and use either your hand weights, tubing or medicine ball to complete this phase of the swing.
I have come up with literally hundreds of simple and effective exercises that have helped golfers add up to 30 yards on their drives and completely eliminate back pain and injuries.
Golf Training Workouts – Strength & Flexibility
Your golf workouts should be 50/50 in regards to strength and flexibility. If you put too much emphasis on flexibility, you'll have loose, but very weak muscles that are susceptible to injury. If you put a higher priority on strength, you will most likely lose some range of motion, which will rob you of power and distance.
For every exercise, you should do a stretch for that particular movement or muscle group. That way you get the best of both worlds. You not only become a stronger golfer, but one with a higher level of golf-specific flexibility.
Core Golf Strength – Rotational Exercises
If you are short on time, but want to get the most "bang for your buck", focus on your core golf strength from a rotational standpoint. The golf swing is a "rotate back" and "rotate through". That's as simple as you can get…so use your "in home" golf fitness equipment with rotation and you're set!
Don't put it off!
Now that you have a better understanding of how easy this type of routine can be implemented…"get it going!" Don't wait til tomorrow! Do something right now! I'm serious. Get out of your chair and rotate back and forth holding your club. It will feel SO good!
In no time at all…you'll be an expert with your golf strength training workout routine.
