Juiceman Health Center SHOULD BE RECALLED

I had the Juiceman Complete Health Center in storage for a few years, so I just used it this month in July 2007. It conked out the third time I used it when I was about to make almond milk. The consumer relations dept. said that it's discontinued and out of warranty so that's that. How convenient for them. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED-PERIOD. I don't know about you, but I don't like the idea of running a device that is a potential safety hazard!


Hmmmm It's Okay

I recently purchased this item from a store. The main reason I purchased this item is because I was in search of a juicer but I figured this was the better overall value since it can juice and do everything else. I was surprisingly disappointed. When I tried blending carrots to make carrot juice I could smell smoke from coming from the blades when I opened the top to check on the progress. To get it to stop I had to turn it off because I was having problems with my stop button. Most likely I will return the item since I am within my 1 year warranty period for a full refund. Also, this item is overpriced. I purchased it new in store for $50.

This machine is sturdy and will last you a long time. It's much better than some of the other blenders that I used to have. You could make anything from tasty fruit juices, soups, smoothies to frozen margarithas. My favorite one is the crushed ice, rum, mango with lime juice.


just a powerful blender

I bought this item this morning at Tuesday Morning for $50 which was a great deal. I haven't fully explored the product yet, but the two things I tried did not go well. The directions don't say that you can juice vegetables, but the pictures certainly imply that. Well, you definitely can't juice carrots. No juice comes out, period.
Then, I tried a recipe from the manual. I attempted making the powdery ice!! Well, after repeating the blending 3 times, it came out liquidy and crunchy chunks of ice. I'm not impressed so far, but I really did buy it hoping to have a powerful blender for $50 so I can make my own baby food (not from raw veggies, but cooked) and it looks like that is all I will be able to do with it. It was too good to be true. Also, I can't find a customer service rep anywhere, so you won't get any help on how to work it. If you're looking for a powerful blender, this is it. More than that, save your money.


I love it!

I have had the Juiceman Health Center for over 3 months. We have smoothies or shakes nearly every night. We are a family of six, so that's at least two pitchers a night. I have not had a problem with mine at all. Now I do want to tell you that my husband is a HVAC service tech and he also works on all commercial restaurant equipment. He checked the smoothie maker out for me right out of the box. He noticed that the bearing was seized up on the bottom of the pitcher. The manufacturer had put it on too tight. Thus the four stars, otherwise it would have been five. I called Salton and they sent me out a new one and I had it in 5 days. I used the stainless steel pitcher in the meantime. I also want to mention that when I called Salton they told me to go ahead and use it like it was. The bearing would loosen up on its own. WRONG! Do not do this. I believe that is what is causing all of these motors to blow up. The bearing is too tight and overloading the motor. Just make sure when you get yours at home to spin the bearing at the bottom, if the blade spins freely, you are safe, if not call Salton and get a new one and do NOT put in on your motor base. It will not free up on it's own. Again, I absolutely love my smoothie maker. I have purchased three more of the older model as gifts because I love mine so much I want to share the fun! For the money, you will not find a more powerful smoothie or shake maker anywhere!

I work out at least 5 times a week and I am on a healthy diet. I took Hydroxycut after reading the reviews hoping that it would help me shed some stubborn fat. I started out with just one pill per day which didn't really have many effects except a slight buzz in my head. Once I upped the dosage to 2 pills, I felt terrible. I was extremely lightheaded and it was counterproductive because I did not have enough energy to work out. I gave it another try after that, just to make sure it was the pill and not something else, and it yet again I was extremely tired and lightheaded. Needless to say I did not take the pills long enough to see any results. I drink at least a gallon of water a day and I took less recommended dose and it still made me sick. If you are going to buy this product, which I advise against, do so with caution. If you just want a quick fix, quickly learn that there is no such thing, just cook healthy meals, don't drink soda, and get some exercise and the weight will come off.

Be careful when reading reviews, several of them can be fake ones made by the company selling product. Click on the user to see if they have reviewed anything else, or another product from the same company.


Happy Pills

Ah Hydroxycut, the red flag of the diet industry. Let me tell you about me, then it.
I am 21, 6-0, ~300lbs. I rarely take the "recommended dosage." I started off taking one-a-day before workouts, then building to one in the morning and one before a workout. I lift a lot, instead of cardio, and I will tell you in the first few weeks of diligence, I did notice results.

I started working more, so the gym became less of a priority. I took some time off the hydroxycut, then went back to taking one in the mornings. The pill is amazing in the fact that it keeps me ALERT, but not jittery. I take one with breakfast and one with lunch, and my workday becomes a whole lot easier.

The trick is to not develop a tolerance and to eat properly. Exercise ALWAYS helps. Don't go thinking one pill will make you burn calories by sitting on your ass.

I have taken the past recipe of Hydroxycut (one that was discontinued) and this, HHX, and I use the same techniques and notice moderate, but satisfying results. The one truly bad thing is if you eat these on an empty stomach, you are bound to have the most disgusting burps ever, so don't do that. =)

Package delivered on time. Good quality product. All the capsules are in good shapes no broken ones. If you take the pills on time and keep a good diets and exercises this will give you a boost. The only thing you have to be concerned is that you will be going to the toilet more often that you use to be.


Good but prepare for the side effects

I just started using this a couple of hours ago. I took 2 pills and I felt nothing for the first hour. But then in the start of the 2nd hour I felt my heart pounding all of a sudden. It felt like I was about to have a heart attack. But after I felt that feeling I just got up, and started walking around. 5 minutes later I felt like running 20 miles straight. So yes, this product works, but you WILL FEEL THE SIDE EFFECTS. Don't panic when your heart starts racing. Just get up and start walking around.

This product was exactly as described. The shipping was incredible fast and the product is working perfectly. I have been using hydroxycut now for 1 month and am seeing results. It is so much cheaper than GNC and i have amazon prime so it is even better. I have bought this for many of my friends as well. You feel more energetic when you use this and burn a lot of extra calories.

Clumpy and more expensive

This mix is overly clumpy. Which makes it a pain in the ass to mix by shaking (and who keeps a blender in their gym bag?).

It is also overpriced in comparison to Ultragen RS-Recovery which mixes and digests much more easily.

Buy the Ultragen, save money and get a better product.


Worth the money, without a doubt

My primary concern about buying the recovery drink was price. "Why pay that much for drink powder?" I foolishly asked myself.

Bottom line, it tastes great, is actually very good value for a month supply, and most importantly WORKS!

Among other important ingredients and amino acids, this powder contains 2 CRITICAL ingredients: Creatine and Potassium. Potassium helps your body break down lactic acid and reduces soreness after hard workouts (which you get with P90X), and Creatine helps your muscles recover more quickly after workouts so you can work harder during the next workout.

Summary: This recovery drink will keep you from suffering after your hard workouts by allowing your body to recover quickly without soreness. Also, it tastes great. The price is actually very reasonable for what it does. And ~$50 a month isn't really a huge cost, IMO.


Taste Just Like a Dreamcicle Ice Cream on a Stick

Being a woman and not use to doing P90X I really wasn't looking forward to drinking anything that was nasty tasting after the hard workout that Tony Horton puts you through. My husband and I both do the work out together and have our after exercise drink afterwards. Neither of us can't wait to drink it. To be honest I would drink this as a treat. I put 12oz. of water into a plastic measuring cup and place it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before time to get the water really cold. I take out of freezer and dump 2 scoop fulls of mix into the water/ice and put the head of the Wolf Gang Puck Bistro blender down into the cup of water and blend until all the powder is disolved which isn't too long. I make sure the blender is set on low so the water doesn't come flying out of the cup. Next I pour the liquid mix into the round container and put the top on and attach the blender to that and turn things up to high and I run it until everything is frothy. I've used a few ice cubes a couple of times but this make more of a milkshake thickness which when your hot you just want to drink down the liquid not sip on it. The lightness and cool taste is perfect for rewarding a hard workout. I've heard horror stories about health drinks but this one doesn't come close to being nasty tasting. Now I have to say this I asked my physical therapist about the drink because I went on a diet and he said that carbohydrate to protein is too high and the high sugar content was too high. Also it has simple sugars which he said was very bad for you. OTHER than that :( it seemed to be good for you. I know that it defintely helped in keeping the soreness down and for me that was a big factor and of course with all that sugar content you can count on having a needed pickup afterwards. My husband loves it as much as I do and even though its around $50 a tub we feel it's worth it. I'm not drinking it now because of the sugar and I really miss it!


Doesn't taste as good as they say

I bought the GNC Version of the recovery drink, and found the tastes wasn't that great. SO i went and bought the p90x recovery drink, and was hoping for a better taste. It tastes like a bad Creamsicle.
I can barley drink it. I have to plug my nose to get it down.
If you aren't a fan of citrus shakes, then I don't recommend this drink. I know that when I run out, I'm going back to GNC. I do recommend taking the recovery drink, as it helps you body recover. I forgot to take it one day and I was really sore the next morning.

Terrible-tasting product!!!

I have been eating "breakfast bars" for at least 10 years. I've enjoyed various protein bars, Zone bars, Balance Bars, Triple Threat Power Bars, etc etc. I just ate my first "ThinkThin" chocolate fudge bar, and it is BY FAR the worst-tasting bar I have ever eaten. What little bit of taste it offers is AWFUL. I hate to spend perfectly good money on something that makes me want to throw it away. Don't buy them. ICKY TASTE!

These were terrible. The "chocolate" had turned white like it was old or waxy. The bar was gritty and had a terrible chemical aftertaste. With so many glowing reviews, i was VERY disappointed in this product.


Good value and quality for the price

I've seen this in stores for almost double the price, so this is a great value. I use these bars to replace a meal a day to help me meet my weight loss goals. At 20G of protein with no sugar, they're perfect. The taste is pretty good - while the flavor is listed as "chunky" peanut butter, it's not really that chunky or crunchy. However, I've never had the "creamy" one to compare.


Disgusting

I bought these because they were on sale so I thought I would try them - bad idea. They are not good at all, kind of taste like chocolate rubber. They all ended up in the trash. Not worth it at half the price, much less at the expensive rate they usually charge.

Definitely the shake/smoothie you should be drinking!!!

It has all the nutrient base covered, it's taste great, easy to carry, I got this once and now i'm Hooked. It's basically a meal replacement drink that contains all your important nutrients and protein.

If you want to lose weight and feed your body with good stuff, this is your DRINK!

It's that simple.

So my little advice to the founder: Dr. Abraham, if you are reading this, you have done a good job in producing the first pure organic nutrient rich meal replacement drink, please don't be tempted as most other product manufactures have done or are currently doing by putting profit before people health. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I'm a musician, and I prefer vinyl over cd, so one day I was at one of my favorite record shops when I saw this on the dollar rack. It was in mint condition, and I said to myself: "I need to have this, just for the future when I have kids and they ask me who Arnold was." So I bought it, and took it home. I put it on just to see how ridiculous it would be. About 30 seconds later I was rolling on the floor, unable to control myself. If you ever have a chance to get your hands on this, do yourself a favor and don't hesitate. I have always found Arnie to be a funny guy, and his accent frequently turned crappy lines into the stuff of legend, so needless to say, him shouting "up down, up down, up down, now squeeze yah buttocks!" was all it took for my floor to get to know me a little better. Politics aside, this is a look into the past of one of the greatest action stars that ever lived. Now, to bring politics back into the ring, it's a wonderful example of the diversity of our political system, proving that truly anyone can play a part in running this country. To sum this up, don't buy it for the music. If you do, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. However, this is an absolute must for any Arnie fan out there, young and old. And remember kids, Arnie wants you to squeeze those buttocks so you can avoid the horrors of flabby thighs!

Greatest Workout Album Ever

Mini Vacation in a box

I don't know about you but I am always looking for inexpensive ways to get a break from the usual daily grind and chores. Movies, a good book, a bike ride into town etc. And this meditation video is IT!

The presentation starts with a short tutorial about the Eastern Indian Chakra system (Indian version of the Asian CHI). And then goes into an opened eyed meditation which leads you through a balancing of these Chakras or energy centers we have in our body. It ends with a closed eyed meditation all led by Shirley M.

I watched the tutorial once and now, I skip it and go straight to the opened eyed meditation. The music and visuals are stunning and hypnotic and by the time I'm done with the 20 minutes or so it takes to complete, I feel like I have had a true break. I'm relaxed and refreshed.
Sometimes I watch it before I go to bed at night and I sleep great!!!
The closed eyed meditation at the end is nice but the open eyed meditation seems more accessible and enjoyable.

If you are interested in meditation but have a hard time letting go of the worries of the day or you mind seems so active you cannot seem to find that quiet space in yourself, try this video. I believe it is an easier way to give our mind, body and soul a real nurturing break.

Disappointing video quality

Absolutely wonderful for meditation

I used this tape many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the meditation results. I had forgotten that I had the tape and after taking an energy healing course, discovered that in order to run good energy, it helps to have your chakras in "good working order". I have gotten the tape out and started with the meditation once again. I found it to be even better than before because I have a fuller understanding of what the chakras are, why they need to be in good working order and I am thrilled that this is allowing me to run a higher rate of energy for healing purposes.

Ok, but not long enough or detailed enough for beginner

I would say I'm reasonably fit and have been focusing more on cardio and strengthening. I needed to lose some weight a few years ago and have since lost 27lbs and am down to 112lbs, so thought this would be a good time to go back to Pilates, which I'd tried on and off, as I really need to strengthen my core due to recurring back issues. A friend recommended this DVD to me and I decided to give it a try as she'd had good results. I find Ana Caban to be OK, but her instructions and pace for someone who needs to get the techniques right is too fast and without enough details. It's like she's assuming that everyone can do a roll-up off the bat, and doesn't give helpful tips like anchoring your feet properly, etc. Also, the workout finishes in no time because of the fast pace, so I find myself doing the 12-minutes energy boost segment just to feel like I've had a decent workout. After using it for 2 weeks, I became a little frustrated and decided to give Pilates for Dummies with Michelle Dozois another try and realized that the instructions are more in-depth and she takes the time to show the moves slowly first and encourages you to only do as many as you're comfortable with first...I will go back to Ana Caban, but not until I've comfortably mastered the techniques and strengthened my core more.


Forced Marketing

I can't comment to the quality of the instruction as I couldn't bring myself to actually sit through the forced marketing in order to get to it. I've owned Gaiam DVDs before and have been frustrated that they force you to watch, at normal speed, their little marketing spiel with windmills and lots of "Gaiam" plastered all over the place. This DVD had four screens of excessive warnings (e.g., menstruating women shouldn't do inverted poses) that you can't fast forward through and then their typical marketing spiel. You can fast forward through the marketing spiel, but, if you do, the DVD will stop when it gets to the end and you have to start over. I would understand this forced marketing if the DVD were being given away for free, but, in fact, I paid a price similar to other exercise DVDs that don't have forced marketing. While I could put the DVD in, press play, and then go into another room until the forced marketing is concluded, I shouldn't have to do that. I'm returning the DVD and will never make the mistake of buying another Gaiam DVD.


works!

I am a beginner of Pilates and this DVD was the first one I purchased. This workout's pace is slow enough and yet challenging enough for me. I can feel my powerhouse is working really hard during the exercise. I purchased Brooke Siler's "Pilates Weight Loss for beginners" DVD and alternate the workouts. Brooke Siler's DVD is slightly harder than this Ana Caban's DVD but both are effective and fun to practice.

As many other reviewers mentioned, the recording of the DVD is bad, but the content of the DVD is good so it is worth buying this!


The Best

I also have the Pilates Intermediate Mat Workout. I like them because she really explains what you are doing and takes you thru the process. There is no loud music or scantly clad people jumping around. She gives clear directions even when you are upside down and can't see the screen.

The Pilates Beginning Mat Workout is harder then most other videos I've seen, and I have seen many. This is a good workout.


not worth it

They Need Rhythm

Started using this product this week and am completely sore in places that haven't been sore in 15 years. The workouts are excellent and difficult but not impossible if you are in decent shape. I have been going to the gym for a long time and had been so bored with my routines. I wanted a way to increase my flexibility and strength (not just the appearence of strength). I would strongly recommend this product to anyone that has hit a plateau and needs to get off. Tony does a good job of keeping it interesting, at times I feel like I am being trained by Ace Ventura.

Worth every penny.


GREAT value

As with any exercise product (especially those shown in informercials late at night when you're gorging on Doritos and thinking it would be nice to have a six-pack....... abs or beer...), it's completely worthless unless you choose to change your lifestyle and commit to the program. But if you're willing to take it seriously, you can't beat P90X.

Not only does the program come complete with specific nutrition information, a variety of workouts and an interactive website, but Tony Horton is always saying "Do your best and forget the rest" and reassuring you that even if you can't do the current workout now, you'll be able to do it in a few weeks if you stick with it. And he's right. Strength and endurance grows very quickly and if you follow the diet plan, you'll see results quickly.

I pause to mention that I started P90X over a summer where I could eat for free at work and so did NOT, in fact, follow the diet guide. Consequently, I didn't see the results that many people post online. HOWEVER, as a test, it was a success. Why? Because even though I wasn't as streamlined as I could/should have been, I've seen HUGE leaps in my strength and endurance and definite change in my physique. So using the diet guide correctly, you should see amazing results.

The workouts are TOUGH and some are LONG (an hour and a half of Yoga), especially if you're relatively new to working out. Most likely, you won't be able to hang with some of them all the way through even after two months - but this is a great motivator, as long as you don't let it get you down! There are two camps about Tony Horton's training style - you either love how corny he is or he gets annoying quickly. Either way, his motivation far outweighs whatever you may think of his style and the handy time bar and visual prompts for each exercise make it easy to follow what's going on should you wish to use your own music mix and turn down the video volume.

Another great motivator, by the way, is the included DVD "How To Bring It" where Tony shows you a short version of how the whole system works and gets you excited about doing the program. On days when I truly did NOT want to exercise, I'd force myself to watch this DVD and a bunch of the P90X Results videos posted on YouTube for inspiration. It never failed.

I HIGHLY suggest purchasing an array of weighted exercise bands at the same time you purchase P90X. They're mandatory unless you already own or plan to buy both a pull-up bar and a full set of dumbells. You won't be able to do the program unless you have these.

The website is great for not only planning and recording your workouts (which is a great motivator) but for connecting with other people using the program and getting answers to questions you may have. There is an additional fee to use some of the online things, but you can set up a profile and do many helpful things for free.

I never thought I'd work out at home and I certainly never thought I'd use an exercise video. But if you commit to pressing play every day, you quickly find that the workouts are so engaging (and sometimes so difficult) that your brain goes on autopilot and you put all your energy into the workout instead of wandering around a gym waiting for a bench to open up or trying to remember what comes next in your routine. Well worth it.

DVD's unplayable or skip - Seller unresponsive

I wanted these DVD's for a long time and finally the price was right. Free shipping and speedy delivery was a bonus. The problem was with the quality of the disks. Everyone of them are scratched from the way they are packaged I suspect. They come in a wallet. The sleeves are made of some type of construction paper.

Once I made the commitment to start the program I discovered the effects of the scratches... skips and freezing. I am still on phase one, 6 disks and 2 of them are faulty. I have attempted to contact this seller Five Times without a response. The P90X program, price and speed of delivery gets a 5, the sellers customer service, response to your issues and quality of merchandise gets a zero.

Purchase from this seller at your own risk. If you're lucky enough to get disks that play, you'll be very happy with your purchase and savings.

Note: Don't even try to read the user guide, you'll drive yourself nuts with all the typo's. I'm not just talking about a few... there are hundreds.

Worked for me

Let me preface my review by saying that I've never stepped foot in a gym or lifted a weight in my life before I started using Beachbody products. I am 5'10" and was 225 lbs and had zero definition when I started (obese bmi...). I read the reviews here and started with Power 90 on Jan 3rd, 2010. All you need for that one is dumbbells or bands. I lost 40 pounds. Power 90 is pretty short and includes stretching and cool down, which was very appealing to me. It was basically two workouts you alternate for the first 45 days, and two more slightly more intense ones for the last 45 days. I also think Tony Horton is good at motivating.

Power 90 was a great prep for p90x, after 90 days of power 90 I was able to get into p90x. Granted I couldn't do many pull ups when I started p90x but I can now that I've done it a while. Goals. Download and fill out the sheets in p90x. Track your progress.

For p90x, I needed a pull up bar (or bands), and I got a yoga block (highly recommended!) and pad too (and have since gotten some mats for plyo), I lost 20 pounds. Much more intense than Power 90, longer and more varied. I was only able to do 1 pull up when I started, I was able to do 10 by the end of the first round and can do 12 or so now. Yoga is the longest at 90 minutes, if I don't have 90 minutes I only do the first half, it is split between 45 minutes of Ashtunga Yoga - Sun Salutations and Vinyasas - and 45 minutes of poses. I do the stretch about half of the time, the other half I take the "rest" option, heh. I usually do abs for 20 minutes (see below) during my lunch hour at work. Just do your best and forget the rest :p

I'm currently on second round and have lost another 10 pounds. I read about combining the Ab Ripper 200 from Power 90 with 20 reps each (instead of the usual 25) of Ab Ripper X, so I tried that and like it and do it instead of Ab Ripper X. I also heard a lot people combine two of the cardio routines from Beachbody's Insanity program with three days of p90x resistance (plus Yoga and Stretch) to mix it up a bit. I really like the yoga, I try and do the 10 minutes of Yoga on the Cardio X routine every mourning (I haven't done doubles, which supplements another cardio routine into the mix, increasing the frequency according to the diet plan).

I followed the diet plan for both Power 90 (calorie deficit) and for p90x. I prefer the portion plan and have never used any of the recipes in the nutrition guides, although I may check out the salad dressings. The only Beachbody supplement I take is the recovery drink.

Bottom line, I was fat and now I'm not. I've lost 70 pounds and am 15% body fat, working towards single digits. I am great shape and feel great, all thanks to Beachbody. It works. If you aren't already fit enough to get through Power 90, than I recommend starting there instead of getting right into p90x, Power 90 doesn't cost as much plus you don't need to purchase a pull up bar or yoga block. I would recommend a set of the adjustable dumbbells that you can continue to use them in p90x. If you like Power 90 and/or max it out (or are already fit) you can "upgrade" from Power 90 to p90x, adding a pull up bar and a yoga block/pad to go along with the dumbbells.

WOW, AWESOME!

WOW!!! I finally ordered this DVD and am so glad I did. I've been exercising regularly for a year and a half starting out with Tony Horton 10 min trainer and then adding to my collection of DVD's as I found ones that interested me. I recently got "hooked" on watching Biggest Loser on TV thus purchasing my first Biggest Loser DVDs, Yoga Meltdown & Power Sculpt. I like to keep things interesting so I change up the workouts often so that I don't get bored and in a rut/plateau if you know what I mean. So needless to say, I thought I was in pretty good cardio/strength health until this morning when I pressed play on Cardio Max Level 1 with Bob.
He kicked me right to the ground. It was great! Now I wonder if I was really getting the cardio workout that I needed in the 50 minute workouts I've been playing. It's been just 6 short hours since I finished his level 1 and I'm really starting to feel it in every part of my body. I already want to go home and try level 2 & 3 just to see if I can do it to my body again today. As with the power sculpt dvd with bob, he's very motivating. He really makes me feel like I can do this! I'm strong, think positive and just do it!
Again, I just have to say, "WOW!" If you don't have this DVD already, you should. Even if it's the DVD you put in only once in a while it's worth it. I can't wait for Levels 2 & 3. Yeah!! to the Biggest Loser DVD's I love them.


Awesome workout

This is a great post baby workout to work the core muscles. I like how it gradually eases you in and it's easy to follow the instructions. I have done a few dvd workouts and so far, this is the only one that works for me and I feel my heart pumping when I do this workout.


NOT for beginners!

So disappointed. This is a poorly organized dvd. And by no means is it for beginners. If you don't already understand proper form or are completely out of shape, DO NOT DO THIS DVD! I am a personal trainer that, for many reasons, has been out of commission for over a year and was looking for a beginner dvd to help motivate back to shape. I already know proper form and most importantly how to modify so I could do the moves and not re-injure myself so I was able to get a decent workout out of it without hurting myself. A true beginner will at the least be set up for failure as most of the moves are too difficult or at the worst actually attempt this and hurt themselves.


Really tough workout!!!

This really is a hardcore workout!! I was sweaty after the warmup so if your into that heart pumping workout this is for you,

On the other hand if your just starting out it is something that you really have to work yourself into so don't be discouraged if you can't do every move, there's alot of jumping and squatting so if you have knee or joint problems I would not recommend this

tough but works

good tough exercise video. i have been doing the cardio max for about two months and added this one. i was surprised that i was able to start doing all three levels right away but level three will definetely make you sweat. jillians level 1 was maybe a little too easy though compared to all her other videos. i have lost about 40 lbs altogether though with biggest loser videos so they definetely work.


If you have done the 30 Day Shred, this video is NOT for you.

I'm only 10 days into the 30 day shred but doing this video felt more like a slow warm up if anything. I did all three levels and was confused at the end because I didn't get a work out at all. All of the exercises are short and extremely easy to do. If anyone can make some recommendations on a workout similar to the shred leave me a note here.


Jillian talks too much. Stop and start workout

I have never seen the "Biggest Loser" TV show, but I enjoyed the The Biggest Loser Workout: Cardio Max DVD so I thought I would take a shot with this Power Sculpt DVD.

The Power Sculpt DVD is definitely not to the same level of quality as the Cardio Max. It follows the same method, with three levels of intensity and the ability to mix-or-match with the remote to get the workout you want. This is good.

Like Cardio Max, the Level 1 is 20 minutes and the Level 2 and 3 are 10 minutes each. On the Cardio Max, Jillian's Level 2 segment was my least favorite, and the one I am most likely to skip. Here, she takes over the longer 20 minute Level 1 workout. This is bad.

The real problem with Jillian is that she doesn't seem to know how to make a workout DVD. She spends too much time explaining and correcting form, teasing the cast, and just chatting in general. Now, if I was taking a class from her, that would be great. If it was just a TV show, things would be fine. But this is a workout DVD, meant to be watched/used over and over again, and when she stops the exercise in order to correct someone's form, or in order to explain a particular exercise, it brings the whole thing to a screeching halt.

I have owned other workout DVDs where semi-complicated forms were explained in a separate training segment so that the overall momentum of the workout wasn't affected. That doesn't happen here. Jillian stops the workout every single time in the same spot, and it is frustrating and annoying.

I can't say that this DVD is a total loss. I have learned to just carry on over top of her instructions, and you can set it to music only without the instructor's voice, but it just seems like this should be a better production, and that the director should have said something or done something to keep the flow going.


Great compliment to CardioMax

Finished up to level 3 on Cardio Max, so now working on strength... bought this DVD from Walmart for $9.
On my first day, I tried the recommended workout Level 1 with warm up and cool down. It was a good start but it was below my capability. I skipped a day and then tried the recommended workout Level 2 with warm up and cool down. This time, I wore my EKG watch to measure calories burned to get some initial stats on calorie burn.
Warm up = 26 calories
Level 1 = 120 calories
Level 2 = 110 calories
Cool down = 20 calories

Will provide an update later when I feel able to complete all 3 levels. But, given that the workout is not as intense as CardioMax, I may try that next week.


Fantastic work-out!!!

I have both the BL Power Sculpt and Cardio Max on AppleTv, and love them!! I can mix and match any combo of cardio and weights, plus my choice of warm-up and cool down ( Not a big yoga fan, so I mostly go with Jillian. LOL). I enjoy seeing "real" people doing the work outs as opposed to those that are already fit. Sure they're not perfect and not always in sync, but it reminds me that these are people, just like me.

While I'm not super fit, I'm not totally out of shape either, and I get a good sweat worked up from this. The BL work outs are definately entertaining enough to keep me coming back every day.

I use these whenever working out with my free weights. They definitely save your hands from blisters and a lot of other wear and tear. I'd recommend them.


Well built glove, way too small

I have been using these gloves for a month and have been hoping they would stretch out some. They have stretched out some over time but not enough. I read the reviews before I purchased them and saw all of the comments about how small the gloves are so I ordered a XXL size even though I am typically and XL. Upsizing the gloves 1 size was not enough for me because these gloves and too are still too small. They are very well built and should be very durable, the sizing just stinks. If you are considering buying these gloves you should upsize them 1 - 2 sizes.


Disappointing

This was my first attempt at lifting gloves, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. But these gloves are a disappointment. They're both too loose and too tight. My hands are about medium length for a guy, but they're kind of petite and small with regard to width of palm and digits. I bought these gloves in extra-large. They're too small in that they kinda pinch the webbed skin in between each finger. They're kind of painful. And they're too big overall, lots of extra fabric, all over. They're just too big for me. I don't believe there is any size of this Harbinger glove that would fit my hand.

On the positive side, the Harbinger gloves have a (somewhat) grippy material on the palm that will help you get a better grip on the weights. This is good, because it feels kind of scary holding weights when I can't feel them like I used to. I hate losing the sense of touch that comes from wearing no gloves. But the calluses are getting to be a problem.

The biggest problem with these gloves, though, is their basic design. When you bend your hand to hold a bar, you have all this extra fabric that bunches up at the intersection between your palm and fingers. The solution, of course, is to find a glove that comes pre-bent, so that you can't easily flatten your hand, but when you bend your hand and fingers around the bar, there isn't any extra fabric to bunch up.

Today a bought a new pair of gloves at my gym. They are "Valeo Ocelot Lifting Glove" size medium. These are really comfortable and actually fit my hand. The inside of the glove feels great. One problem is that the palm side of the glove has no grippy material, so it's hard to get a great grip on the bar. That makes me really nervous, because losing your grip on the bar could be disastrous. And these Valeo gloves have the same problem as the Harbinger gloves - when you bend your hand around the bar, all this extra fabric bunches up at the intersection between your palm and fingers. This really messes up my ability to get a good grip on the bar.

So, the Valeo gloves are a much better fit than the Harbinger gloves. But neither is great. I need to find a "pre-bent" glove with a great grippy material, and less fabric overall to bunch up. If you know of one, please comment. Thanks.


These are great gloves but the run small

I got these for weightlifting, they are great. I measured before I ordered, and ordered the size recommended by the measurement. They were ok to put on and take off once per session. But then I had an accident and ended up in a wheelchair and they were way to tight to put on and off several times a day. I ordered up a size and prefer them. When you wash them they get smaller so really you should order up a size unless you are lifting huge amounts and want no movement and are ok if you need a minute to get them off.

Once you find your proper size the gloves are fabulous, they really have held up under daily use. Good quality stitching, good quality materials, they are great gloves. And the price is amazing. You will be happy.


Great value for the money!

Yes there may be gym gloves that you can get for a couple dollars less, but the quality suffers by a lot.
This pair of gloves are not only stylish but they serve their purpose to the best.

This instructor is awesome! She can really challenge you. There is a short (20 mins) and a long version (50 mins) you can chose, it depends on how much time you can dedicate on a particular day. This video has modification workouts that range from beginners to advanced. It works the whole body and the 5 pound kettle bell doesn't feel like a brick. I love it! Definitely recommend it!


Great to start but will make you want more

I bought this for my wife and she really enjoyed the workout for the first couple weeks. Bad thing was she required a heavier set soon after. Be sure to know what weight you want and it might be wise to get a multiple set.


Kettle Bell

I ordered the Kettle Bell for my wife....when it arrived the first thing I noticed was the handle. The shape of it did not allow for comfort, as a matter of fact every time I raised the bell it would scrape my knuckles. I thought it would be OK for my wife since my hands were bigger than hers....but that wasn't the case. We liked the idea but it was not usable for us. I repacked the bell and returned it to Amazon.

Weak, amateur and dangerous.

I do not recommend the Firm kettlebell video. It is in no way appropriate for beginners or anyone else. The technique shown is poor quality by any standard. Kettlebells are not toys to be played with, and making up kettlebell exercises gets amateurs in trouble every time. The off-center balance of the kettlebell makes correct technique even more important for safety than when using conventional implements. The Firm have mitigated this danger somewhat by using a kettlebell which is so light as to cancel out any effect unique to the kettlebell. In other words, if you are going to use the Firm kettlebell, you would do just as well (or badly) using a rock or a can of soup, or any other object of similar weight. With excellent kettlebell training information being available in this country for over 8 years, the bad quality of the firm video is inexcusable and frankly puzzling. It would seem to take extra effort to make a video so wrong. The kettlebell video I recommend Enter the Kettlebell! Kelsie Knows Her Stuff!

This is an excellent workout for beginners or advanced. I use a heavier bell for most of the moves, but when I first did this workout with the 5 lb. bell, it was tough! If you are looking for a total body "kicka&**&" workout, Kelsie delivers. She is a seasoned trainer: Kicka%$* Kelsie! She knows what she is doing and what works. This DVD comes with a 5 lb bell so it is very well priced and worth every penny.

This is a very solid piece of kids equipment.. No plastic parts here. The frame is made of real metal, and is extremely sturdy and well built.
Its like a real miniature workout bench! I do wish the bench was adjustable, but its no big deal.
My son is only 2 1/2 so its perfect for him, but I can see it being a little small for bigger kinds.

But well worth the price.. I highly recommend!

I bought this for my nephew(he is almost 4) for Christmas. He likes to try and workout with me, so I thought he would like this. It was the first thing he ran to Christmas morning. I agree with the review on using this for children 5 years or younger(maybe 6).


Great - but for smaller kids

This kids weight bench is great on many levels. I take my 6 year old son to the gym's "kids club" several times a week and he often wants to go to the workout area to "exercise like Daddy does." This bench is a fantastic way to stress the importance of exercise and health at a young age and, from what I can tell, there are no other products like it. However, I had to return it because it was too small. The box says it's good for kids up to 7 but my son is 6 and it's already way too small for him. He's a big bigger than normal but not an extremely large child. I would recommend this only for 5 year olds and younger. Too bad, they should make it a bit larger. I could see a larger version of something like this being useful until a child is maybe 10 years old (if it had the option of using real weights).

Nutrition is the New Competitive Advantage in Basketball

Coaching basketball is a very challenging and rewarding profession. Getting a job as a basketball coach on any level is also very competitive. No matter the level of play there is a demand on the coaches to produce results. Even at the high school level a coach will not survive long if their program continues to lose. Coaches are always looking for a way to get a competitive edge. Coaches will pay large amounts of money to go to coaching clinics or will study new coaching schemes. Yet, one of the areas that coaches haven't explored is the nutritional factor of their athletes.

Coaches will always do everything they can to get the best workout for their players. They will also look to get them into a weight lifting regiment. Yet, when it comes to what the players are putting into their bodies the coaches usually leave that decision up to the individual player. At some point each player has to take personal responsibility for making themselves into a better player. One of those responsibilities is to have a healthy diet.

It is very hard to force anyone to eat a certain diet; however, there is an easier way for coaches to increase the nutritional advantage that their players have. Increase the amount of protein that their players have in their diet. An increase in protein allows the players to create more lean muscle, which will increase their performance on the court, durability during a season, and over all endurance. The body almost never converts protein into fat, taking away any worry that a player would be getting too much protein in their diet.

There is also a simple metric for how much protein a player needs in their diet. The amount of protein that someone who is actively training should intake is equal to half of their body weight in grams. For example a person that weighs 180 pounds should have 90 grams worth of protein in their daily diet. That amount of protein is very difficult to accomplish through pure dieting.

Providing your players with whey protein is a very simple solution to improve the nutritional conditioning of your team. Whey protein is very cost effective, with good supplements providing at least 19 grams a serving. Isolated whey protein is also very low in fats, and consists of 90% pure protein. Whey protein is produced with dairy products that make it easier to metabolize than soy based protein products. Whey protein is very easy to use. There isn't any cycles or timetables that players need to follow. The players just need to take a certain number of servings per day depending on their weight.

This nutritional advantage is something that professional coaching staffs take very seriously, and a coach that will use the power of protein to their advantage will get a competitive edge over their competition. It is easy, legal and effective. Coaches should start to use protein to their advantage to gain a nutritional edge.

the bellaband is a godsend, but I noticed Target sells it for much cheaper (~$14 instead of ~$26 on Amazon and $24 at my local shop -- however the local shop and Target were out of the right size color combination for me). No pregnant lady should be without one.

I bought this product from Amazon and was a little hesitant because it's ~$30 for an elastic band. I wasn't sure if I really needed it but I use this thing everyday. I think I bought it when I was about 4 months and now I'm 3 weeks away from my due date.

I use it wear my non pregnancy pants. You just wear your old pants, have them unzipped and put this band over them. Sometimes I do have to pull up my pants but not too often and only with certain pants.

I'm getting bigger now and even when I wear my pregnancy pants I fold over the bella band to use as a support on my growing belly. It's great. I guess you can even use this post-partem.

I would buy this again...I also hear you can cut 2 holes in this for hands free breast pumping...I however bought something specifically for that.

This product is great and I would recommend it to anyone preggers.


One of my few MUST HAVE pregnancy items!

This not only came in handy do hold up my pants during pregnancy, it also helped me shape my chubby tummy so it looked more pregnant in the earlier stages. It held my tummy in such a comfortable way that I wanted to wear it even as I got bigger, under my clothes just to feel secure. It was very useful to wear shirts that were not long enough to cover my belly... that's the main reason why I used this product.


A Pregnancy Must

I originally went to purchase one of these bands from a maternity store, in a one size fits all. However, because I am small (Size 2/4), the saleswoman suggested I order a Bella Band, which comes in sizes. I ordered the XS in black and it has come in sooo handy. I am currently 20 weeks and am able to wear my normal jeans with an elastic looped through the hole. I then wear the bella band over, to cover up the buttons. It looks just like a long shirt. I am definitely getting my full value out of this!


Helping a lot

This cd is the best, after Colt Ford's 1st cd. Liked the DVD too, nice peek into an up and coming star's life. Nice to hear something different and be able to relate to the lyrics. After we got this cd, we went and saw him in concert, best concert I have been to lately, very upbeat. Would definately recommend Colt Ford to anyone!!!!!!!

The next product, Rhythm Latino, is produced in the US by Melody Entertainment Inc and features 20 tracks. The first ten cover the cha cha cha, samba, rumba and jive twice each, plus an additional cha cha and samba, all with vacals. The ten tracks that follow are the same tunes but minus the vocals, described as Practice Session Instrumental versions.
The sleeve states that these offerings are all original music for Latin American dance Sport. They are indeed all new songs recorded by American artists and musicians specifically for dance competitions and rehearsal. I found them all appealing and, as they were not heard before, they were very interesting to listen to and to dance to. What is certainly valuable in the inclusion of those practice tracks. Being instrumental they are so much better than just dancing to the rhythm, which can be a little soulless and rather mechanical. Here you have concentrated rhythm but enough instrumentation to give the possibility of personal musical expression and development. For all who like Latin dance music, excellent tempo, bright and attractive singing and good orchestrations, there is plenty here to enjoy. (Visit [...] to preview the CD or buy it)

Fast Results

I've been alternating the upper and lower body dvds as well as throwing in the abs workout and adding the Code Red a couple times a week for the past 6 weeks. I have also been walking 3-5 miles 3 times a week and closely monitoring my diet.
Results: I am 5'8" and started out at 159 lbs (I have a 5 month old and did absolutely nothing but eat during my pregnancy and got up to 180lbs. My normal weight is around 140lb. I've lost about 15lb and 5 inches in my hips and 3 inches in my waist and I have gained so much energy. In fact, I am about to purchase Chalean's Turbo Fire because I've really come to enjoy working out and I want to take it to the next level.
Now the cons...the music is crummy and Barry can be incredibly obnoxious. I really like Cindy, the trainer who is actually performing the excersises with you. I also wish it didn't require all the extras like the transformer and power handles. Storage is scarce in my house and the really take up a lot of room.

All in all, it is a great workout and a really great starting point b/c every excersise is modified for beginner, intermediate, and advanced.


Best Workout to Lose Inches

I recently bought this system and I am SHOCKED by the results. After the first six workouts, I lost an inch off my hips & waist. Keep in mind, I'm not new to exercise and I'm within 5 pounds of my goal weight. It's an intense workout, but it's worth the effort. I'm so glad I bought it!


Great Program but DANGEROUS

A couple weeks into this program, which I otherwise like a lot, the black resistance band broke suddenly while I was exercising, and nearly took out my left eye. Vision is still blurry and I hope it heals up fine but thought I'd warn others that this product has a serious flaw. I may resume with the green band but I'll be wearing racket ball eye protection. This product should not be sold, in my view, until this problem is fixed. Not to mention that the black band broke after only a couple of weeks!


Very good product, but pretty difficult

I don't know if I am pushing too hard, but this thing kicks my butt.

I have only been doing it for two weeks, just alternating the upper and lower workouts (taking off two days a week randomly). I see pretty drastic changes already, especially in the wife. We are not losing weight, but seriously shaping up.

If I were coaching a tennis, soccer, baseball team, I would buy 10 of these and start off the practice with this workout...it can be found for about 20 bucks on another site.


equipment keeps breaking

This seems to be a great workout DVD system, and I do like doing it but my equipment keeps breaking! I have never been able to make it through a full 30 days because something breaks everytime. Within the first couple days, I believe day 3, the "Transformer" exploded while I was using it. Because I was within my trial period the company did replace this at no cost to me. Also, the DVD's were not the best quality the mission specialists on both DVD's skip badly. So, I get my replacement transformer and try to start again, this time the power handle resistance band snapped. By this time my trial period was over and I had to replace this at my own cost, another $10. I really liked the workout so I paid it. But, here I am again, Day 8 and another resistance band has snapped. I will not be replacing it again, I will just go to the store and get a better quality one that may last more than a week! To conclude, I really do enjoy the workout but expect to replace your equipment to be able to continue these workouts.

Missing plug and plug puller, useless!

The ball came nicely packaged, but without the plug and the plug puller! If i didn't already have these items from a previously broken exercise ball from another company, this purchase would of had to been returned. The ball is a quality ball and very sturdy. Buyer beware.

I bought an exercise ball at a sports shop a few months ago and it was just massive, so I ordered this one hopping that it would be what I was looking for. And when it arrived and I got it inflated it was perfect. Using it just about everyday and I love it. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a way to inflate it.

small ball for small people

The thera band 45cm exercise ball is just what I needed. I have always worked with the 55cm, and it was not ideal. I am 4'10" and this is perfect. All of the exercises for toning and strenghtening are so much easier now that I have the right ball with which to work. Easy to follow inflation instructions and a clear and concise exercise program to follow.The recommended height/weight chart should be followed for the right fit.

This product was everything and more that was promised. I was a bit worried that it would not be a durable little machine but I use it everyday and it is a great low impact work out. The resistance bands are great to help support balance and achieve a full body work out. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great compact stepper.


Worked for a couple days, then broke

The stepper worked great when I first got it - used it a couple times for about a half an hour each time. Then, just a couple of days after I purchased it, the piston broke. I guess it must have overheated or something, but it got oil all over my carpet. I would definitely NOT recommend this item. If you have some space, get a full stair stepper and save yourself some time (and carpet cleaner).

This is a very old tape and sadly they don't have a DVD version. It really does work!! The bands make it low impact which is what I need. The toning effects are wonderful! When it gets too easy just adjust the resistance and your on your way!!

The item sometimes gives problem when you switch from playing with the speakers to the head phones and will only play when you leave on the iphone display and it you can only raise/ lower the volume level and are unable to change the track via the device.
The only reason I bought the device was to be able to change the track and to raise/ lower the volume level while working out in the gym.

I purchased a set for myself and one for my GF. We are surprised at the quality of sound and the features built in this headset. We frankly did not expect all the great features included for the price. The stereo is spotless and plenty loud, the telephone overide is one button responsive, and staying within the 10 meter circle will afford a seemless audio at all times. Pairing is effortless and there after automatic. In short this system is a real bargan!

I buy a lot of stuff from amazon and this has to be the worst product I have ever received. The concept is great. The implementation misses the mark. Every time I turn the headphones on I have pair them with my iphone4. Inside a car I can listen to podcast but the sound quality is poor for music. Unless I yell and speak slowly people on the other end of a phone call can not understand me. The headset is basically unusable as a phone headset. The headset does not work well outside. I wanted to be able to put my phone in a waterproof pouch on my waist and run but the connection is lost from that 1 meter distance. There is no real manual and no web site or technical support. Amazon should raise their standards and ban schlock like this

Not what I expected

Though I am not an audiophile, sound quality is a top priority. I use these headsets for riding the train, taking cruises and working around the house. I have been using bluetooth headsets since they created them for the 3rd generation Ipod (logitech). I wanted a set to use strictly with my new Ipod touch, so I ordered these. I love the design and the fit; earbuds and I do not get along. However, I was really disappointed with the sound. No dynamic range, no bass at all even after I adjusted my EQ settings on my Ipod. The music sounded like an AM radio station from back in the day. I don't expect the same quality from bluetooth as I do from wired headphones, but even the logitech headphones I purchased years ago had better quality sound. Frankly in my opinion the earbuds that came with the Ipod has better sound. Hopefully they can improve the sound on these things, the design is great. Regretfully I am here again looking for another set. By the way I giving this set to my wife, she's tone deaf she won't care (just kidding).

I purchased this blue tooth set and received it in a great time frame. Problem is that it just sucks. It doesn't hold a charge nearly as long as claimed (maybe 3 hours of music most), the band does not bend to position well (it always popped out of my ears) and it cuts off randomly. I had to re-sync it every time I cut it and my IPod off. Very disappointed in this product. I expected more.


Good for quieter areas

Build is solid. Controls are easy to use. Pairing with bluetooth was a snap.

They are comfortable on my head when biking and running.

The three stars is for the lack of volume. The earbuds fit loosely and there is no way to push them further into the ear.

For a quiet environment this is fine. However, when running on my treadmill (even quietly) with the volume turned up all the way I cannot hear most of the dialog in a typical movie.

For music when outside I can't hear it well as the buds are far enough out of the ear that wind and other noise easily gets in.

The price is great. Between the re-stocking and shipping fees to return them I'll likely just keep them as a spare pair for the office or other quiet places. But for a bluetooth headset that I can use while exercising I'm off to look for another pair.

Was tottaly shocked by ease of connection with my ipod itouch 3rd gen. Sound was terific and fit was a little loose but after some adjustment was good. The best purchase I've made in awhile. The benefit of not having wires while running now is great. Shipping was very speedy and service was great. Thanks for a great purchase. The only thing that doesn't work with the Itouch is the next and last track button, the pause and volume works great, but thats ok the other features and price way make up for this.


The headset is great

I really like this headset. I use it both as a wireless headset for my I-touch as well as a remote for my computer when using Skype. The system works great and it is quite functional. I am glad that I purchased it and I use it on a daily basis. It is easy to switch it from one system to another. The only drawback is that the earplugs are not completely snug. This is good because when I am involved in physical activity I can still hear surrounding sounds; however, if you like your music really loud, the volume is somewhat limited. I recomend that anyone looking for a bluetooth headset consider this one, it is well worth the value and functionality. I also have it connected to my cell phone and it works well as a hands free device for it as well.

Started using this product this week and am completely sore in places that haven't been sore in 15 years. The workouts are excellent and difficult but not impossible if you are in decent shape. I have been going to the gym for a long time and had been so bored with my routines. I wanted a way to increase my flexibility and strength (not just the appearence of strength). I would strongly recommend this product to anyone that has hit a plateau and needs to get off. Tony does a good job of keeping it interesting, at times I feel like I am being trained by Ace Ventura.

Worth every penny.


GREAT value

As with any exercise product (especially those shown in informercials late at night when you're gorging on Doritos and thinking it would be nice to have a six-pack....... abs or beer...), it's completely worthless unless you choose to change your lifestyle and commit to the program. But if you're willing to take it seriously, you can't beat P90X.

Not only does the program come complete with specific nutrition information, a variety of workouts and an interactive website, but Tony Horton is always saying "Do your best and forget the rest" and reassuring you that even if you can't do the current workout now, you'll be able to do it in a few weeks if you stick with it. And he's right. Strength and endurance grows very quickly and if you follow the diet plan, you'll see results quickly.

I pause to mention that I started P90X over a summer where I could eat for free at work and so did NOT, in fact, follow the diet guide. Consequently, I didn't see the results that many people post online. HOWEVER, as a test, it was a success. Why? Because even though I wasn't as streamlined as I could/should have been, I've seen HUGE leaps in my strength and endurance and definite change in my physique. So using the diet guide correctly, you should see amazing results.

The workouts are TOUGH and some are LONG (an hour and a half of Yoga), especially if you're relatively new to working out. Most likely, you won't be able to hang with some of them all the way through even after two months - but this is a great motivator, as long as you don't let it get you down! There are two camps about Tony Horton's training style - you either love how corny he is or he gets annoying quickly. Either way, his motivation far outweighs whatever you may think of his style and the handy time bar and visual prompts for each exercise make it easy to follow what's going on should you wish to use your own music mix and turn down the video volume.

Another great motivator, by the way, is the included DVD "How To Bring It" where Tony shows you a short version of how the whole system works and gets you excited about doing the program. On days when I truly did NOT want to exercise, I'd force myself to watch this DVD and a bunch of the P90X Results videos posted on YouTube for inspiration. It never failed.

I HIGHLY suggest purchasing an array of weighted exercise bands at the same time you purchase P90X. They're mandatory unless you already own or plan to buy both a pull-up bar and a full set of dumbells. You won't be able to do the program unless you have these.

The website is great for not only planning and recording your workouts (which is a great motivator) but for connecting with other people using the program and getting answers to questions you may have. There is an additional fee to use some of the online things, but you can set up a profile and do many helpful things for free.

I never thought I'd work out at home and I certainly never thought I'd use an exercise video. But if you commit to pressing play every day, you quickly find that the workouts are so engaging (and sometimes so difficult) that your brain goes on autopilot and you put all your energy into the workout instead of wandering around a gym waiting for a bench to open up or trying to remember what comes next in your routine. Well worth it.

DVD's unplayable or skip - Seller unresponsive

I wanted these DVD's for a long time and finally the price was right. Free shipping and speedy delivery was a bonus. The problem was with the quality of the disks. Everyone of them are scratched from the way they are packaged I suspect. They come in a wallet. The sleeves are made of some type of construction paper.

Once I made the commitment to start the program I discovered the effects of the scratches... skips and freezing. I am still on phase one, 6 disks and 2 of them are faulty. I have attempted to contact this seller Five Times without a response. The P90X program, price and speed of delivery gets a 5, the sellers customer service, response to your issues and quality of merchandise gets a zero.

Purchase from this seller at your own risk. If you're lucky enough to get disks that play, you'll be very happy with your purchase and savings.

Note: Don't even try to read the user guide, you'll drive yourself nuts with all the typo's. I'm not just talking about a few... there are hundreds.

Let me preface my review by saying that I've never stepped foot in a gym or lifted a weight in my life before I started using Beachbody products. I am 5'10" and was 225 lbs and had zero definition when I started (obese bmi...). I read the reviews here and started with Power 90 on Jan 3rd, 2010. All you need for that one is dumbbells or bands. I lost 40 pounds. Power 90 is pretty short and includes stretching and cool down, which was very appealing to me. It was basically two workouts you alternate for the first 45 days, and two more slightly more intense ones for the last 45 days. I also think Tony Horton is good at motivating.

Power 90 was a great prep for p90x, after 90 days of power 90 I was able to get into p90x. Granted I couldn't do many pull ups when I started p90x but I can now that I've done it a while. Goals. Download and fill out the sheets in p90x. Track your progress.

For p90x, I needed a pull up bar (or bands), and I got a yoga block (highly recommended!) and pad too (and have since gotten some mats for plyo), I lost 20 pounds. Much more intense than Power 90, longer and more varied. I was only able to do 1 pull up when I started, I was able to do 10 by the end of the first round and can do 12 or so now. Yoga is the longest at 90 minutes, if I don't have 90 minutes I only do the first half, it is split between 45 minutes of Ashtunga Yoga - Sun Salutations and Vinyasas - and 45 minutes of poses. I do the stretch about half of the time, the other half I take the "rest" option, heh. I usually do abs for 20 minutes (see below) during my lunch hour at work. Just do your best and forget the rest :p

I'm currently on second round and have lost another 10 pounds. I read about combining the Ab Ripper 200 from Power 90 with 20 reps each (instead of the usual 25) of Ab Ripper X, so I tried that and like it and do it instead of Ab Ripper X. I also heard a lot people combine two of the cardio routines from Beachbody's Insanity program with three days of p90x resistance (plus Yoga and Stretch) to mix it up a bit. I really like the yoga, I try and do the 10 minutes of Yoga on the Cardio X routine every mourning (I haven't done doubles, which supplements another cardio routine into the mix, increasing the frequency according to the diet plan).

I followed the diet plan for both Power 90 (calorie deficit) and for p90x. I prefer the portion plan and have never used any of the recipes in the nutrition guides, although I may check out the salad dressings. The only Beachbody supplement I take is the recovery drink.

Bottom line, I was fat and now I'm not. I've lost 70 pounds and am 15% body fat, working towards single digits. I am great shape and feel great, all thanks to Beachbody. It works. If you aren't already fit enough to get through Power 90, than I recommend starting there instead of getting right into p90x, Power 90 doesn't cost as much plus you don't need to purchase a pull up bar or yoga block. I would recommend a set of the adjustable dumbbells that you can continue to use them in p90x. If you like Power 90 and/or max it out (or are already fit) you can "upgrade" from Power 90 to p90x, adding a pull up bar and a yoga block/pad to go along with the dumbbells.

Excellent & effective workouts that really work

I really enjoy these workouts. They're no nonsense yet fun and they do a great job of getting you fit in a short time. You do ten exercises for one minute each. Simple and smart. Many of the exercises require resistance bands.

Resistance bands are really a superior way to workout. Why? Simply put, you get tension in both the push and the pull of a movement if done right. With free weights, that's not the case. Moreover, the body doesn't know if you're using free weights of steel or resistance of rubber. It only knows you're giving it a good workout and it responds accordingly.

Horton does a commendable job of taking you through each program. And the trainer tracks are quite helpful as they give you instructions on how to do certain exercises correctly. I find the DVDs well put together and easy to navigate, which I much appreciate.

These are not sissy workouts. I've worked out for decades. I've lifted heavy weights and done it all. I'm quite impressed with this program and really enjoy it. I like to mix things up and not let my body get too used to any workout program. So I use these several times a week and then change off to something else. In other words, I don't follow the program as laid out. But if a person wanted to follow the program, I'm reasonably sure they would get great results.

If you feel ten minutes is not enough for you, all you have to do is add another segment. It's your call. The program is based on doing two per day with one day off.

NOT for Beginners

I bought this after seeing the TV infomercial and even thought, based on the ad that this would be something we could do as a family - including my 10 year old and 8 year old children. NOT!! This is NOT for beginners! Too many complicated moves, no explanation of how to do the moves, or even how to modify the moves for beginners. I did the cardio one modifying as I thought I could, and then did the lower body one. The cardio was a nice cardio workout. The lower body one required a lot of upper body strength to do some of the moves - which I don't have much of - and really no discussion of how to modify the moves in any way. Both workouts seemed to require that you already have a good understanding of the basics of each move. Would have been nice to have just an instructional DVD regarding each move. But even with that, I would still be returning it today because this was too intense for my liking and my legs are so sore today that I can't even go up and down the stairs. I don't want a product that is not going to allow me to work out daily like I want - I am so sore right now it will probably be a week before I will be able to get back into my prior exercise routine which is running 3 miles on my treadmill daily.


Challenging, fast, intense, not for beginners

I am going start my review stating that I purchased this product from a reseller here in Amazon.com and, as a previous reviewer noted, I was very suspicious I received a "fake" - the reason is I received all items loose in a padded shipping envelope - the only thing wrapped in plastic was the DVD. It all looked like it was pieced together from an open box product. I contacted the seller and he "reassured" me everything was "new" and If I wasn't happy I could return it all. I was missing the cardio belt and tape measure as well...I didn't return it for I wasn't going to do anything attached to a door with the cardio belt on anyways. My big caveat with this workout "kit" is that the price is too high for what you get but I gave in and purchased it anyways.
Ok about me, I am a 47 y/o male who was been working out using kickboxing/Taebo videos for the last year and I was doing it becuase I want to lose weight and I really want to get fit. I was looking for something different and less time consuming becuase I think I reached a plateau using kick boxing only. I read the reviews here and I ordered it and I have been using it for a week now only using the cardio and total body workouts and here are my findings:
1)***It is NOT for beginners period. Both sections require good coordination/flexibilty/balance, healthy heart and lungs and the ability to, at least, do lunges which Tony uses a lot of. You also need a clock with a seconds hand for Tony does not count reps. but tells you to do reps/moves/body sides in seconds (totaling up to one minute) which made it hard to follow and almost forces you to keep your eyes glued to the television. I had to pause the DVD multiple times becuase Tony goes fast to keep within the 10 minutes and also I had modify some moves becuase I am not that flexible or that strong yet! Remember, they are condensing a complete workout in a 10 minute time frame. I found Tony funny and rather goofy but motivating so it made it easier to follow.
2) The cardio section is high impact, it uses "running in place" boot-camp style combination moves that are high impact...I have a tile floor and my legs, knees and feet took a severe pounding! Also you do lunge type moves. It's fast and, believe me on this one, you need to catch your breath at times and you will sweat A LOT! If you don't have a lot of floor space, you will need to modify the moves too. If you live in a 2nd floor - your downstairs neighbors will complain! I am not a big fan of high impact cardio. but I will give it a shot a few more times to finally judge.
3) The total body workout uses Tony Horton's muscle confusion techniques and work various muscle groups - upper and lower body simultaneously. You need balance and coordination as well as the ability to do lunges (once again)in this section. He uses the resistance band(which comes with the set and is of medium resistance) for almost all the exercises in this section - personally - I find the band a hassle because you need to set it up for each exercise and calculate the resistance - which may require you to pause the video and in the video they switch them from one excercise to another quickly. I will probably switch to dumbells later as I get the hang of the exercises in this section. This section also requires you to do pushups and sit ups as well - i you can't do pushups try using your knees for leverage and for the sit ups he uses the band wrapped around your feet with you holding the handles to help you complete the sit up. The video ends with various versions of burpees/squat thrusts with and without pushups which I simply couldn't do yet but he gives an easier option if you can't. I liked this total body workout because the techniques you use are unique, challenging, definitely work all upper/lower muscle groups very effectively.
Bottom line: this video is short and intense - but doable with repeated practice. The trick is to not give up and make some modifications to tailor your current level. Also ***extremely important*** review all the workouts first, study AND practice the moves first before you even start the workouts. Also make sure whatever reseller you purchase from has a clear return policy just in case you don't like it. I gave it 4 stars because the system is rather confusing to follow - especially calculating 30 seconds for this move or that move BUT, overall, you feel like you worked out an entire hour in 10 minutes. The second reason for the 4 stars was the very high price. In conclusion, this IS a *real* workout - not a gimmick even if its on a TV informercial!

There are definitely some moves that are past beginner for instance the side spins are more intermediate and the elbow handstand is intermediate as well not for beginners. The music I really like and the routine I really like as well. Knowing what I know this video is worth the money. I was hoping this video would help me to gain strength. The workout is really tough but I am not sure that it helps you to gain strength to do the elbow handstand or the side spins.


Surprisingly difficult workout!

I am not the most in-shape person, but this really left me sore the next day! I love how she takes you through a thorough a solid warm-up, routine and cool down. She offers several "levels" to each move based on your fitness so it's great that there's differentiation within the routine. If you are someone like me, on the lowest level of fitness, this video will be challenging for awhile as I work through the different levels within each move. A lot of the exercise are very Pilates based and since I'm familiar with Pilates they aren't new to me.

My only main complaint is that the workout itself does not use the pole that much. The pole is mainly used to wrap the band around. I also wasn't expecting a lot from the combination and teaching the pole tricks. Therefore I was not disappointed. There are some neat combination and tricks. I like how they show you the combination and then one more time slower so that you can catch it.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone looking for a basic workout and perhaps learn a new transition or move. However, this is not a DVD that uses the pole a lot and is not going to teach you any crazy pole tricks. If you are looking for a DVD that does tricks, find another.


I could take it or leave it....

The pole portion of this video is nothing special. The beginning work out/warm up is actually better than the pole tricks in my opinion. I am currently enrolled in two different programs that teach pole dancing and I've had other videos to compare this to. The pole tricks are not really broken down or explained, and they are done quickly and sort of carelessly. I wasn't blown away by Dr. Amy's pole dancing either, she kind of bored me. When I see a pole dancer doing a routine I want it to look effortless otherwise why would I want to learn to do it? Save your money for a better video, this one is definitely over rated.

I have so enjoyed this DVD, gaining strength and muscle toning have been my favorite results....the warm up is perfect for building up to the pole moves. The video is easy to follow, the instruction is great. Thank you Doc Amy for making this video, it's so fun and I'm loving the results.


It gets more fun every time I watch!

I try to make working out a priority but it is often hard to find the motivation. This DVD is such a fun workout, plus it teaches some great moves that are not only entertaining but they make you feel sexy and good about yourself. I think this is a great addition to my weekly workouts and the routines are getting more and more fun every time I watch. Plus, Dr. Amy has such an easy way of teaching that she takes the intimidation away and gives me the confidence to keep trying. I highly recommend this DVD.

Stretching is one of the easiest exercises a women can do to make her body strong and fit. Stretching benefits the body by making the muscles supple and thus resistant to the wear and tear of strain and tension. It is why many people begin start their exercise routines with simple stretching to warm the muscles in preparation for more strenuous exercises.

However, the problem with stretching is that most people commonly take it for granted. Despite it being an easy workout, stretching is not given much importance, especially by women. As a result, instead of benefitting from stretching, the result is more damage to one's body including possible injuries.

How Can I Make Stretching Beneficial?

Stretching practices the muscle's ability to expand and retract. When the muscle is stretched too far, injuries are likely to follow. A muscle tear can be very painful.

The following tips should be followed during stretching to make it safest and most beneficial.

1)Wear comfortable and loose clothing. Make sure that the garments worn will not hamper the body's movement in any way.

2)Do stretching first thing in the morning. It is best to do when the sun is still not up or when the sun is barely on the horizon. A blow of fresh air and the warmth of the sun are beneficial factors during stretching.

3)Do stretching regularly. Routine will allow the body to get used to the exercise, thus enabling it to adjust well to changes exercising may bring.

4)Your muscles are not elastic rubber bands. Make sure to warm up first to avoid causing strain. As such, one should do simpler activities like a few minutes walking to warm up the leg muscles. On the other hand, when one is engaging in a very strenuous exercise routine, stretching is the best preparation. However, make sure to finish off your exercise with stretching to conclude the exercise routine.

5)Do not overdo it. This is most applicable for those who will embark on stretching for the first time or after a long layoff. One should listen to their body. When the body begins to ache or when it shows signs of fatigue, one must learn to stop to avoid further damage.

6)Moreover, a woman should do stretching in slightly increasing levels of intensity and difficulty. This is to give the body time to adjust to stretching patterns as well as to prevent injury by suddenly embarking in a heavy routine.

7)Do not do stretching after meals. This will not give you the most benefit because digestion will prevent you from fully executing your stretching routine. It is best to do it before breakfast. Avoid eating a great deal much after stretching.

I've been alternating the upper and lower body dvds as well as throwing in the abs workout and adding the Code Red a couple times a week for the past 6 weeks. I have also been walking 3-5 miles 3 times a week and closely monitoring my diet.
Results: I am 5'8" and started out at 159 lbs (I have a 5 month old and did absolutely nothing but eat during my pregnancy and got up to 180lbs. My normal weight is around 140lb. I've lost about 15lb and 5 inches in my hips and 3 inches in my waist and I have gained so much energy. In fact, I am about to purchase Chalean's Turbo Fire because I've really come to enjoy working out and I want to take it to the next level.
Now the cons...the music is crummy and Barry can be incredibly obnoxious. I really like Cindy, the trainer who is actually performing the excersises with you. I also wish it didn't require all the extras like the transformer and power handles. Storage is scarce in my house and the really take up a lot of room.

All in all, it is a great workout and a really great starting point b/c every excersise is modified for beginner, intermediate, and advanced.


Best Workout to Lose Inches

I recently bought this system and I am SHOCKED by the results. After the first six workouts, I lost an inch off my hips & waist. Keep in mind, I'm not new to exercise and I'm within 5 pounds of my goal weight. It's an intense workout, but it's worth the effort. I'm so glad I bought it!


Great Program but DANGEROUS

A couple weeks into this program, which I otherwise like a lot, the black resistance band broke suddenly while I was exercising, and nearly took out my left eye. Vision is still blurry and I hope it heals up fine but thought I'd warn others that this product has a serious flaw. I may resume with the green band but I'll be wearing racket ball eye protection. This product should not be sold, in my view, until this problem is fixed. Not to mention that the black band broke after only a couple of weeks!


Very good product, but pretty difficult

I don't know if I am pushing too hard, but this thing kicks my butt.

I have only been doing it for two weeks, just alternating the upper and lower workouts (taking off two days a week randomly). I see pretty drastic changes already, especially in the wife. We are not losing weight, but seriously shaping up.

If I were coaching a tennis, soccer, baseball team, I would buy 10 of these and start off the practice with this workout...it can be found for about 20 bucks on another site.


equipment keeps breaking

This seems to be a great workout DVD system, and I do like doing it but my equipment keeps breaking! I have never been able to make it through a full 30 days because something breaks everytime. Within the first couple days, I believe day 3, the "Transformer" exploded while I was using it. Because I was within my trial period the company did replace this at no cost to me. Also, the DVD's were not the best quality the mission specialists on both DVD's skip badly. So, I get my replacement transformer and try to start again, this time the power handle resistance band snapped. By this time my trial period was over and I had to replace this at my own cost, another $10. I really liked the workout so I paid it. But, here I am again, Day 8 and another resistance band has snapped. I will not be replacing it again, I will just go to the store and get a better quality one that may last more than a week! To conclude, I really do enjoy the workout but expect to replace your equipment to be able to continue these workouts.

Adam Weiss and AbSmart are Simply Real Smart!

I earlier did a review on the authors other book, The BackSmart Fitness Plan: A Total-Body Workout to Strengthen and Heal Your Back, and had given it to my girlfriend to use as she suffers from back pain. I really enjoyed that book and so did she. It was loaded with a lot of very sound and useful information, just like this book is, only instead of targeting the back muscles, the author focuses on the abdominal muscles.

The information contained within the pages of this book are numerous and are very sound from a safe and effective standpoint. Fortunately I have never suffered from back pain and therefore can not respond with a testimonial about how using the information in this book alleviated any kinds of pain, but I can attest to the fact that my girlfriend has and she just loves this book. She can now do quite a few sit-ups without experiencing the normal pain that she used to after doing only a few sit-ups, perhaps 25 to 30. Now she can do twice that number with no pain, okay a little sore muscle pain in the abs, but not in the back.

I have found that by following the information and guidance provided by the author in this book that I personally seem to be able to do a few more ab exercises during each session, although admittedly I haven't seen a lot of the waist melt off yet, but I suppose that has quite a bit to do with my hating to diet. I know, you have to do both in order to get the results.

I highly recommend this book along with The BackSmart Fitness Plan: A Total-Body Workout to Strengthen and Heal Your Back by the same author, Adam Weiss.

Plus it offers to let the reader start slowly for beginners or choose exercises that work all aspects of your stomach for those who have been working out for years. You don't have to start reading from the beginning. It only takes me about 15-20 minutes a day to do a workout at home. With many options to choose from, these workouts are fun.

He also share important tips for improving your diet without completely giving up the foods you love. Unlike other restrictive diet plans- this program provides you with smart uses of foods and "swap out" certain food groups for lighter, healthier foods to stop the bloating and swelling that occurs. There are good tips about what to eat and why with a good common sense and straight forward apporach you can flatten your stomach and make your stomach stronger.

A very good addition to whatever workout program you are doing if you need some help for just another view on eating as part of getting and staying in shape. Highly recommended to anyone.

I can't say that I have any complaints about them. I picked them up about 1/2 way through my 90 days of P90x and I have to admit they do making doing pushups easier and allows you to go deeper. I may pick up a larger set for the next round, but wouldn't have any issues about buying another set of these if I needed them.


A little disappointed

I am currently attempting to complete P90X and bought these push-up bars after reading a few reviews. I am disappointed with them in two areas. One, they are not nearly as comfortable as I would have thought. When using them they dig into the heal of my hand. These are the first push-up bars I've ever used, so maybe this is normal, but the handle is not completely round and so has a corner (all be it not a sharp one) that can dig into one's palm. Two, when using them in a wide push-up position, they have rolled on me. The base is not wide enough to adequately stabilize wide push-ups. I don't use them for this particular exercise any more. However, I do use them for standard and military push-ups. It is still nicer to use these than to use the floor. More range of motion and not nearly as much stress on my wrists.


Does its job, does it well!

These little guys work great and do what they're made to do. They're the perfect high above the ground (I'm not a fan of really high pushup bars). As for the people who say they roll on you, you're not doing your pushup correctly. Military, wide, whatever, all pushups should be done with force being pushed straight downward. If your force is at an angle, they will roll, which will teach you to do a proper pushup.

For the price these little guys it's a real no-brainer. Small, light, durable, and the iron-like shape of them allow you to do diamond pushups with them as well. My only complaint is that I wish handles were solid and didn't have the hollow bottom (hard to explain, but you'll know when I'm talking about then you use them for the 1st time). It just feels funny, but you get use to it. All-in-all, awesome product. My productivity with pushups went through the roof and all wrist pain is gone.

I ordered the bands in May but didn't start P90X until 2 weeks ago. One of the resistance bands broke after a few uses (the grommet came out of the webbing material). I called BMP's customer service number. A nice guy answered (no answering machine) and apologized. He said they have a life time warranty and said he would immediately ship the broken band to me. Now THAT is good customer service. I would highly recommend buying these bands and any other product from BMP.


Wholly unsuitable for P90X training

I purchased my set of bands from Amazon for the purpose of P90X training, particularly as a travel-friendly way to do resistance training. I am very dissatisfied with the product and, had the product not broken while I was on foreign travel (thereby causing me to miss the refund window), I would have sought a refund.

I cannot recommend this product for anyone doing a training program such as P90X with substantial resistance training because the bands aren't designed for the stresses one would place on them. Perhaps they may be suitable for light physical therapy, since only the lightest of the bands can be realistically used, but for the price, I recommend splurging on fewer bands of higher quality instead.

The most serious design flaw is the place where the elastic attaches to the handles. The handles are nylon canvas and the bands fasten by threading through metal eyelets punched through the canvas. The trouble is that it's very easy with even moderate stress to tear the eyelets from the canvas, thereby detaching the band from the handle and rendering the product useless. This happened to me for the two strongest bands (the red and black) within a few days of one another, both only after around three weeks of use. In neither case had I placed the bands under much stress at all, so I conclude that this is a fundamental defect in their design.

Another, minor problem I encountered is that the bag shipped for holding the bands tore along one of the seams after a week or so of light use. While it would still hold the bands (more or less), it was an annoyance.

I've used these quite a bit. They rub on my wrists a little which is why it doesn't get 5 stars. However, it is barely even noticeable and I would buy this set again in a heartbeat.


Great bands for P90X

I started P90X four weeks ago- absolutely great work-out. I'm a big guy- 6'1" and 220 so pull-ups are out of the question to start with. So I decided to buy some bands. There are a lot to choose from so I read all the reviews. These bands caught my eye for the good reviews from other customers and especially positive comments about the company that makes them.

I paid the expedited shipping and ordered these for my work-outs. I received a notification from Amazon that they would be delivered in nine business days. I was furious so I fired off a scathing email to the manufacturer. The bands actually arrived the very next day but I also received a great email from BMP making sure I received them and was happy and if not- what could they do to help. Excellent customer service as I had simply jumped the gun with my rude note to them!

As for the bands- couldn't be happier. I am moving up fast in resistance so I have learned to take two bands for increased difficulty. The handles are very easy to grasp so two bands are great to hold on to and create a lot of resistance combinations (for the pull-ups). I still just loop part of the band for the curls and other movements and stand on the loop to increase the workout load.

I don't normally rate products but I had to put in my two cents for this item. Great customer service and a great product- order these and you will be happy!


Great Item

Great quality product. I am 6'2 235 pounds and use these bands three or more times a week when I am out of town making sales calls. I am able to get a great workout and these bands are showing no signs of wear. I don't know what those others were using/misusing the bands that had problems....you see "them" in the gym all the time. Great quality resistance bands compared to the ones I got at the local superstore that broke in a week. I am going to get more to give as christmas presents.

I haven't fallen in love with exercising, but using these against the wall has been a real arm burner for me and it feels good. Trying it out on the floor hasn't been successful for me yet. The handles do not hurt.


Turns pushups into a total upper-body workout

Pushups are a great upper-body exercise. But based on web reviews on the added benefits of pushup stands I decided to give this a try. Of course there is a more well known version but based on reviews here and the price I went for this one.

So far I am very impressed. These make pushups much harder from a strength persective since you are twisting your arms and you can go down further. But the twist you do really helps out with your arms, espeically biceps, added to the great pect workout pushups provide. Also you have to balance yourself a bit more so you are probably getting a better 'core' workout.

My weight pushes around 250lbs so I put a lot of pressure on the handles. But so far they have held up well and fine for me from a comfort perspective. 5 stars for a handy and useful addition to my exercise equipment that is getting me results, does not cost much, and is easy to take on the road if you want to.

Chose this over Perfect Push Ups

I am a United States Navy Seabee so keeping myself physically ready is a must. I bought perfect Pushup 2 years ago in the navy to get a better pushup workout. I bought this just recently because one of my perfect pushup started acting up and started to get rough rotations. I was looking to see if i can get a "cheaper" and maybe even better alternative to perfect pushups.

These guys are a perfect solution. I actually like these much better than perfect pushup but that may be because I have smaller than average male hands. The rotations are far smoother than perfect pushup... this may be good or bad according to your few. Perfect pushup seems to have some resistance. This set just glides with no effort which ended up making my pushups even better because I could focus on my workout rather than the rotation.

I was worried about the quality due to price but after punching out a couple, my doubts were gone. Yes perfect pushup is superior in quality but I find these to have better targeted results. The handles are actually rubber grip and yes they did hurt the palm of my hands the first time i used it. But like every other workout you do, your body (hands) get used to that real quick.

I recommend this for anyone looking to workout your upperbody or wanting a workout in between workouts. I can't always go to the gym so I use these guys to keep my workout momentum going.

Love handles are usually the result of too much food and beer. Sometimes, it is also the effect of a sedentary lifestyle. Other names used are waist fats, belly fats, and waist tires. Whatever you call it, it's those flabby looking rolls around your waist caused by excessive fats. If have them, then you should start getting into a love handle workout to get rid of them.

The waist area is the part most prone to accumulating fats. Not only that, it's the last batch of fats that leave your system and the most difficult to burn. If this is not attended, this will develop into ugly looking rolls. The love handle workout is the best approach and solution. It strikes straight into building abdominal muscles.

Various exercises are recommended for the abdomen. But the most effective ones are those that work for the rectus abdominis and the oblique muscle sections. When completely developed, rectus abdominis is also the commonly termed six-pack abs. The oblique muscles are the waist areas and they differ between men and women. Five of the best and effective exercises are listed below:

- Bicycle Exercise. Position yourself by lying on your back and placing your hands beside your head. You raise your left knee halfway touching your right elbow and arching your back slightly forward. Then you do the same with the other knee and elbow. This love handle workout movement creates a pedaling motion similar to when riding a bicycle.

- Captain's Chair. This workout is effective and must be included in your regular workout There may be several ways to do this but the basic objective is to build muscles around the oblique sections. You let your body dangle while being supported by your arms. Work kicks in when you start slow and repetitive lifting of your knees toward your chest.

- The Exercise Ball Crunch. You need a large rubber ball that looks like a balloon and about the size of your average hug. This love handle workout is unique because you let your body rest over the exercise ball instead of the floor. Work begins by pacing your feet flat on the floor while doing the crunch. This exercise works better with the rectus than the oblique.

- Vertical Leg Crunch. This workout looks somewhat similar to the leg raise. Except that your legs are always held up. Your abs muscles contract by lifting your shoulder blades up and lower it back to the floor. This love handle workout is equally good for both abdominal muscles.

- Torso Track. Although this exercise is equally effective, it must be done carefully. Otherwise it will break your back. You need an equipment for this and if you buy one, there should be instructions on how to use it correctly. This type of exercise favors more in working for the rectus.

These love handle workout techniques will be effective when done regularly over some period of time. Good nutrition and balanced diet must be in your list too. It is a must that once you get into this habit, it should be part of your lifestyle. Getting the right abdominal muscles will not only make you feel healthy but also improve your look and that level of self-esteem and confidence. Best results happen when done regularly and with the correct repetitions. And most importantly, while working out, breathe correctly.

Sore neck

Can't tell whether it was a good practice or not because I was always looking at the TV to see what they were doing. Kinda hurts the neck to look backwards at times. He doesn't say forward bend or triangle pose like my other dvd's do. On them I never look at the TV because I hear what they are doing. I don't really care if he touches the girls or says things to them, I just want to know what the heck we are supposed to do.


My experience with "The Sedona Experience"

I worked out to The Trilogy, the DVD series Mark Blanchard made before this one, for 1,5 years. Doing one workout each week. At a certain point I was looking out for something new, so I decided to purchase The Sedona Experience. While the Trilogy consisted of three "all in" yoga workouts, in The Sedona Experience each DVD emphasizes a specific aspect of Power Yoga practice.
Another difference is the length of the workouts. The Sedona Experience DVD's vary in length from 48 minutes (The Core) to 137 (The Culmination). Being able to choose from workouts with different lengths comes in handy if your schedule doesn't allow you the time to workout for a full 1,5 hours. As far as I can see, there is no need to do the DVD's in any particular order.

SETTING
You have to give it to him: filming his workouts in the natural beauty of New Age Mecca Sedona was a great move. Without getting into New Age ramblings about "power places" the prospect of practicing yoga in that setting must have been a powerful experience, though you won't feel much of that at home. While the setting of the Trilogy was not very inspirational, the mysterious red rock formations and crystal clear blue sky of these DVD's is a definitive plus. The good looking nicely shaved ladies in the front of the class might appeal to some as well.

THE WORKOUTS
"The Foundation" is a basic 1,5 hour yoga workout. "The Stretch" is a one hour yoga workout is which the stretching aspect is slightly stressed. "The Core" is the most specific of the workouts in that about half of it is dedicated to (pretty demanding) abdominal exercises. "The Flow" is a one hour Yoga workout that is slightly cardio oriented. "The Culmination" is a long hardcore Power Yoga session with headstands, etc.

EXTRAS
The Extra's consist of the different Power Yoga moves broken down, but without commentary, and different soundscapes like a Sedona Sunrise that might be handy if you want to quiet your mind.

CONCLUSION
Yes, some of Blanchard's corrections of the female students do look like postures from the Kama Sutra (that's a kind of yoga too, I suppose...). But the bottom line is that these are enjoyable workouts. I thought a lot about whether to give this DVD set 3 or 4 stars. But the scenery does it, hence the 4 stars. Namaste.


A little too touchy feely for me

This is a review of the culmination dvd. It does what it says it will do which is to cook your muscles. Personally, I don't like to work this hard in a yoga class; a dance class yes, yoga class no. Mark is not a good teacher in that he doesn't call out the poses. When you do a Shiva Rea dvd, you don't have to look at the screen, just listen to her voice, a very nice voice at that. I also had a problem with how touchy feely Mark was with the scantily clothed blonde yogini. He rubbed and stroked her and flirted with her throughout the entire dvd. What about the other students. I dislike it when teacher pay attention to the good students when they really should be giving special attention to the students who look like they need help. There were a couple of students on this dvd who could have used Mark's corrections. But no, he stayed close to blondie rubbed her on the back and said, I quote "Gee you must be burning up inside babe." He and Bryan Kest with his crotch candy remarks are in the "Inappropriate things male yoga teachers say" club.

The dvd is filmed on the red rocks of sedona. Nice scenery, but it looked uncomfortable to the students. Will I do this again. Jury's out, as I said I don't like to work this hard at doing yoga. If power yoga is your thing, and you don't mind Mark's inappropriateness, then this is the dvd for you. I'll stick to kundalini yoga and Shiva Rea.


Blanchards Power Yoga: Powerfully Dissapointing.

(This review for the first of the five Blanchard Power Yoga DVDs)

The Good: A long workout (120mns), really hitting the legs. Background and practitioners are pleasant to look at. (You'll see why this was noted as a plus...)

The Bad: This yoga practice just doesn't flow. At all. Blanchard fails to call out poses by name consistently-making the viewer look at the screen much too often. Some poses are repeated over and over, making the routine seem.... monotonous.

The Verdict: Borrow it from the library. Borrow it from a friend. But don't buy it without going through it once or twice. While the workout is lengthy and intense on the legs, Blanchard fails as a good instructor.

Full Review: This is a classroom "type" DVD, with some pretty practitioners. Not that I mind that the women are attractive - but it seems like they chose "pretty" people versus real practitioners. Anyhow, I digress. While Blanchard is purely concerned with talking about the poses-a good thing in an of itself, he doesn't call out poses by name enough. He talks about bending limbs this way, and falling that way-but you don't know what pose he's guiding you towards until you break down and look at the screen.

After the first half, I was really frustrated because I like to practice yoga-not continually watch the screen to see what the instructor intended. You know a great yoga practice if you can perform it by listening to the instructor, occasionally glancing at them. Why can't Blanchard just say "Standing forward bend, standing back bend, side plank, crow"? Because he only calls out the poses about half the time-I'm left to decipher his unclear instructions, which is not what I'm in this for. This becomes very apparent, as you can see the entire class having varying difficulty keeping pace with what he's describing-having to look up to see what he's going for.

Blanchard uses a "hands on" approach with some students, something not everyone will appreciate. I find it mildly amusing that he wanders off course and starts to describe the set scenery and how happy your dog is. I know this is "progressive" yoga, but really?

The balancing poses are interesting, some new that I haven't seen before-which were a breath of freshness. He seems strangely partial to three-legged dog and one legged balances. About 50 minutes into the workout, the "view" changes, spreading out the practitioners. At first I thought this would be be nice-but because I had to look at the screen so often, it was even more distracting. As the people were spread out, it was blatantly obvious that they could not follow without looking at Blanchard - a true statement to how well he can coordinate the workout. The last half hour approaches some more balancing, strength, backbends/shoulderstands, and some hip-openers.

The real detriment is the instructor. "Bring this hand to the earth, that hand up to the sky." Hey Blanchard, how about saying half-moon pose? It's also apparent that Blanchard can't even do many of the poses very well. Call me old fashioned, but the teacher needs to be able to demonstrate what they teach.

If it wasn't for the few one-legged balancing poses I hadn't seen before, two stars would have been two-too many.

I bought a cheaper brand first and had to return it due to a worthless pump. This pump is slow, but simple and works fine, and the ball seems strong and durable. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I would recommend this ball.

A note about size: the size recommendations based on your height are only useful if you are sitting on the ball. I got this for ab workouts and I like the 55cm size even though I am 6'4", because it has a tight radius that allows my back to arch and get a good range of movement. If crunches are your primary use, I would recommend this size for a person of nearly any height.

i have been using my spri stability ball for 6 years. it is so much better than any i have used in health clubs- much sturdier, does not lose inflation...its versatilty is phenominal. it serves as a bench for free weights, is superb for ab work, and is a comfortable and ergonomically correcct chair at my desk. over the years it has been deflated and re-inflated dozens of times easily with the [included] pump. several times i misplaced the plug, and the spri company cheerfully and quickly sent me [free] replacements.. a definite 5 star product!.


Great Quality but......

I purchased a ball for $10 from Wal Mart and didn't feel it had any stability and was very flimsy. The gym I use trains with the Spri brand so I thought this would be similar if not the exact ball. The quality was great, but unfortunately this is not the size I am used to hence the 3 star rating.

I am 5'5' and the recommended size is 55, but the 55 in my gym and the 55 I am looking at are 2 different sizes. I am sending this one back and ordering a 65 instead. I am not sure if they have a different product line that they use for professionals, but I am very disappointed.

This ball inflates to roughly double the size of a beach ball, and when seated you aren't high enough off the ground to do many of the moves effectively. Forget doing bridges, you might as well do them on the ground for all the height you get.

I was worried that this product wouldn't provide the kind of workout one would expect from an elliptical but considering its size and features it really does do a good job. The strides aren't great, even considering someone like me who is around 5 feet, but i certainly break a sweat and burn off some good calories. The product function is smooth and i feel very comfortable while on it. I feel as though having to stabilize myself only benefits my workout even more. If you are looking for a machine that you have no space for, I store this in my office closet, but still want a product that can provide a good cardio workout, then this is the one for you.

Great Little Elliptical!

This elliptical with a small footprint is the perfect choice for anyone living in space-challenged quarters. I assembled it very quickly and without any problems, and so far, I have not experienced problems with balance, jolting or jerkiness while using this machine. Yes, the "stride" is smaller than a gym-sized elliptical, which I expected, but this little machine does give me a good workout. When I'm done, I slide it under the nearby table where it's out of the way. I gave this 4 stars, because the resistance device doesn't work as well as I'd like it to.

Awesome piece of equipment

This BOSU ball is awesome. I have integrated it into my P90X routine wherever possible (push ups, squats, lunges, etc. I even do some arm exercises while balancing on it). It is great and adds depth to all my exercise routines. You can use it either way, with the flat side down or the rounded side down.

The construction seems very good and after a month of 4-5 days per week of use, I have had no problems with it, and see no signs of trouble.

If you want to add variety to your exercise routine, I recommend this product. It can really help you shake up your routine.


mixed feelings

I used a Bosu ball during a session with a personal trainer for the first time and LOVED it- it was hard and my fav ab exercized involved leaning back and sitting up on it to pass a weighted ball to the trainer. Anyway I brought it home and followed the directions to pump it to 10 inches and I measured it but REALLY it was toooo pumped up and too easy to do the stepping, squating and lunging. I'm pretty sure the one at the GYM was less filled and created more instability. I would also say that 10 inches is too inflated and could cause the ball to come off the base. Mine did - I'm sure it also has to do with my family storing it sideways. It broke within a week:(

Pricey - but a great investment!

I have always been concerned with fitness - first, when I was playing sports; now, just as a way to maintain my health. I had been considering purchasing a Bosu for awhile - but the price had always outweighed the benefits in my mind (and wallet!) I finally decided to buy one, and I'm glad I did! Finding good "tools" for working on balance while developing functional strength is not always easy. The Bosu solves that problem. There are a LOT of exercises that you can do with it - both upper and lower body - and all are very important in terms of working on your balance (including the small, usually overlooked stabilizer muscles), while at the same time developing the functional strength that we ALL need in our daily lives.

If you can afford to buy one - I recommend it!

Little resistance

I bought this to have at work to use to keep my legs going as i sit for long periods of time, i am by no ,means in shape, 6'4 and 220lbs, with the tension screw all the way down, this offers almost no resistance.

Also the cheap plastic feet are useless on any tile floor, the machine just slides and moves around far too much, i would think they could of afforded to use real rubber feet and not harden plastic.

This was not stable even on carpet. The tension was also not very adjustable. Seemed cheaply made. The floor grips did not stay in one place. They were always twisting and turning.

This item is only good for exercise motion. Gets too hot if you apply pressure to the rotation. Probably not adequate for most people who want to strengthen leg or knee.


In Stride Cycle

I bought this product to replace another, less expensive similar product by another manufacturer. The other cycle snapped in half after 2 months of moderate use. This one is far sturdier. The pedals are attached directly to the product, not sautered on, like the other one. I am very pleased with this one, and the price was good.


Nice workout; easy on the knees

I purchased my Instride Cycle XL to exercise after tearing the meniscus in my knee. Physical therapy got me to the point where I could finally cycle, but not with a normal bike, which would put strain on the knee. This fun little job does the trick. Yes, it has slipped when just on the wood floor, but once I position it against my desk, centered against the leg of one kneehole, it doesn't move at all. The timer thing is totally useless; it would have been much better if it had "mileage" or cardio, but for the money, you can't ask for much more. I cycle while at my computer, watching tv or reading, and it definitely works the legs and a bit of the upper body if you position yourself correctly on the chair. I use weights to exercise my arms and upper body, but you can put it on a table and use the pedals to exercise your arms. I would highly recommend it!
