This disc is that reminder, containing a fast-paced and comprehensive fitness routine that ranks among the very best. Warner is personable as she trains--and she doesn't stint on doing the moves herself. She's designed the workout in three chunks, upper body, lower body, and core/abs, which can be done separately or combined for a full hour heavy-duty routine. Because there's little rest between moves, the whole workout seems to fly by, but there's no denying its overall intensity. Warner combines tried-and-true moves (crunches, squats) with some new twists (just try to do that "butterfly" crunch and not feel it deeply the next day). And she's upbeat without being perky--though a viewer could be forgiven for grousing when Warner chirps "I could do these all day!" during Sumo squats. She also gives great attention to form, often working with one other trainer so it feels as though the viewer is getting a one-on-one session too. This is partially because Bob, your trainer, loves to d-r-a-w things out, right when you're hitting your threshold for pain and / or exhaustion. Regardless, all four workouts keep you engaged and for the most part, the time flies by. As for those aforementioned challenges? The low impact cardio is five minutes longer than the others, to make up for its slightly easier pace. The sculpt workout is the most traditional weight training program, with a ridiculous series of abs moves right at the end to really knock you out. The high impact cardio really does in your calves through the endless tire runs and high knees. And the Boot Camp, a cardio with weights circuit training program, is pretty intense on the arms and knees. ALL of these workouts will make you feel like you've really worked, without having to spend hours dialing it in at the gym, which is great. The contestants have much better form and more personality than those you'll see on future BL DVDs, but it's still comforting to see them struggle and pause here and there when things get really intense. Some words to the wise - if you're really out of shape or are just starting to workout again, take it easy. Don't be ashamed to start out on the beginner moves or use light weights (or no weights at all). Just because this is the first ever BL DVD, it's definitely not easier than any of the others. I find the moves a little less creative and a little more strenuous on the joints than other DVDs, but in general I'd easily recommend this as a part of a regular workout program. it was okay Great Work Out!!!!! Boxing involves two participants who fight with their fists with each other. Boxing is a physically demanding sport that requires strict workout regimes, which are accompanied by special training equipment that keeps the boxer safe during fights.
Training equipment
The speed bag is used while training as it moves around in often-unpredictable location, which helps the boxer in getting superior hand eye coordination and speed. Safety equipment
The safety boxing equipment includes headgear, groin guards, hand gear and mouthpieces. Boxing gloves protect the boxer against any kicking and knocking as otherwise the boxer might get a fracture in his hand. There are variety of boxing gloves in the market that differ in sizes, prices and designs. There are different types of gloves like speed bag gloves, heavy bag gloves and sparring gloves. I was excited to see this arm band would work with the nike+ sensor (I didn't know about nike+ back when I had my first ipod). So loaded up the new ipod, attached the sensor, slid it into the pocket and went to plug in my headphones and to my dismay ipod switched the side the headphone plug is on - therefore this arm band will not work with my nike+ and 5th gen ipod. I don't blame the arm band - I blame Apple but just a heads up worst product in history Great product if you don't mind not seeing the track. It can be difficult to get to the gym a few times a week because of motivation issues and a busy schedule. You always want to select a video that is going to match your fitness level so that you can get started at the right pace. Selecting exercise videos with too high of an intensity can do more harm than good.
If at all possible, look for a set of videos that has various levels of impact and intensity. This allows you to start at one level and work your way up to other videos as you progress. The best videos are also going to offer ways for you to adjust your routine as your fitness level improves. Some ways that may be offered to adjust your routine include adding weights, bands, and balls to increase the intensity of the program.
The next thing to look for in your workout videos is the type of exercise you need and want. The four main types of exercises you can do are cardio, flexibility, strength training, and endurance. In order to reach the level you desire, your routine needs to include a little bit of all of these. It is up to you to decide what kinds of exercises you to do achieve this. Just make sure you properly balance the four main types of exercise.

If you do not have 5 to 10 minutes or even 30 minutes to invest into your body, than maybe you need to loosen up your schedule a little bit. The Exotic Dance workout Great sexy moves, but not for everyone Although, I don't think it would help much if you want to drop 10, 15 or 20 pounds with it, if that is what you are looking for. It's just a workout to keep your body sexy and tight, but it's not a "real work out" to help you lose weighs, so make sure you don't put a lot of hope in it Anyway, I love it as I don't even weigh over 100 lbs, I just want to feel sexy and need some fun working out, so I'm happy with it. Will buy another one after this. Siena Really good intro/instructional video I'm 40 and have ballet, tap, jazz dance experience, but nothing in the way of social dancing, hip-hop, or exotic moves at all, and little confidence in this area. For me, this DVD as an instructional video was really tasteful, perfectly paced, unintimidating, and approachable. After instruction on certain moves, you do a short little combination to show you how you can link some of the moves together. I personally spent a lot of time rewinding and practicing each individual move over and over until it felt natural for my body, and then moved on to the next bit. I think that approach really helped me do the choreography part. Three sections - standing, floor and chair - I was particularly interested in the standing part, not so much the rest, so I personally wished the sections were longer. But in combination with the Strip to It DVD, it gave me great stuff to work with. The demonstration routines at the end not entirely representative of the moves you learn throughout the DVD - they were faster, and included lots of new moves and combinations you don't see earlier. But you can't learn everything in one DVD. Besides, the demos are good for giving you ideas. For the people who have or might criticize this DVD for it's music, or lack of work-out, or whatever - this is definitely not clubby, hip-hoppy, Christina Aguilara "do-me" type of stuff; and it's definitely not a dance-along work-out kind of thing. It's instructional. Learn it, practice it, find your own music, put your routine together, and pass the DVD onto someone else who wants to learn how to be a little more sensual with their bodies. I'm pleased with the purchase and it's giving me exactly what I wanted. |

ReviewsThis is Great! Tracy doesn't give a whole lot of guidance but I didn't find that frustrating at all - I just went with it. People expect that if they put a DVD in they'll magically lose 5 pounds without having to do anything. Come on! The woman is not a genie. She tells you straight up - this is not going to be easy and you will have to commit 5-6 days a week. Oh, and if you don't understand everything the first time, then watch it again. If you can't commit to that, then don't buy the DVD. End of story. If you really want results and you want those lean, toned muscles, then just keep doing the video and quit complaining. Becoming a healthy, fit person is hard work, especially if you want to do it in Tracy's way. I do not think she is a fraud at all. She's incredibly talented and has provided the material to enable others. If you don't know what to do with it, well that's your own problem. I give this video 5 stars - if you're willing to put in the time, effort, and drive, then you will see results with this program. I've gone from a size 6 to a size 2 on it (I also do her dance cardio which I used to be terrible at). And no I don't work for Tracy's company - I just don't like seeing health and fitness businesses get slammed by lazy reviewers. good workout A recreational runner's results and perspective As a runner (I'm no marathoner and I couldn't care less about PRs, but I'll do the occasional half and I live for trail running), I'm constantly trying to find non-cardio workouts that are both challenging and relaxing. I love running because it's both incredibly difficult and extremely centering, and I really try to look for that balance in other forms of exercise. The slow pace of yoga and pilates tends to frustrate me, and the HYPER ACTION attitude you find in body sculpting classes kind of scares me. Tracy Anderson's Mat Workout, however, is absolutely perfect for me. My cardio habit had left me a little noodly at best and downright skinnyfat at worst. Though lean, I completely lacked muscle definition. I've been doing this workout alternating with her webisodes (I'm not sure you can purchase them anymore now that her Perfect Design series is out) 5 days a week for the past six weeks, and the results have been absolutely incredible. Upper body: The arms series are amazing! My arms have definition for the first time in my life, and nothing beats extending your arm and seeing the tricep pop! I know Tracy gets a lot of flack for telling women to never go above 3 lb weights, but I simply can't imagine doing her arms series with a heavier weight. Plus, it's fairly common knowledge that heavy weights and low reps make bulk, whereas light weights and high reps whittle... and no one does high reps quite like Tracy. Abs/core: I have to admit, I really didn't get the standing abs series at first. The mat work was great, but I just kind of felt like a gangly prepubescent boy trying to do the standing abs sequence. However, after about 3 weeks of wiggling my way through, the mind-body connection involved in the standing abs sequence finally clicked. It's really hard to explain how it works, but all I can tell you is that you'll get it if you do it enough. The workout hasn't made me "ripped" by any means, but my entire midsection has definitely gotten smaller. All of my jeans now gap at the waist and I had to invest in several new pairs of lululemon speed shorts since my old ones were beginning to fall south during my runs. Legs: My legs were already very lean from running, but I found that this workout had some interesting effects on them. The ballet barre style moves she does don't seem particularly difficult at the outset, but they come back to haunt you the next day. I was SORE. My legs haven't changed in size according to the measuring tape, but they look sleeker and more feminine. My quads seem a lot less boxy and my inner calves now nip in right below the knee. These are small, small changes, but together they make for a different (and very welcome) look for my legs. Butt: Again, my butt was effected quite like my legs. Formerly square, flat, and kind of squishy (sorry for the overshare), it is now round, firm, and just the right amount of juicy. I got a booty-related catcall for the first time EVER last week, and I couldn't be happier! Overall, I'm incredibly happy I took the plunge to try out the Tracy Anderson Method. While I didn't follow the gospel of Tracy to a t, I found that I was able to tailor it to my needs and interests and maximize my results. Good luck! Good Workout by Tracy is a Terrible Instructor Don't knock it until you try it! The ONLY cons I would say about this DVD is that I wish you could customize your workout. I read some reviews that you can't fast forward to certain exercises but I have found a way around this.. I use Media Player on my laptop and what I have found is when I stop the video at a certain point, I can start at that point the next day and all i have to do is rewind it to the portion that I want to do that day. It works! Also, she seems to lose count of the reps during the routine but this is no big deal. Just make sure the next time you do the dvd, start with the opposite side to balance things out! Another thing is that Tracy does not address any back strengthening exercises so after my workout, I incorporate my own for several minutes and that seems to do the trick. If you are hesitant about trying this video, I encourage you to try it. I love the background music and the fact that she doesn't talk much. I just ordered the post pregnancy work out because I hear that it's challenging as well. Tracy's method is very unique and although I have read that her technique can cause injury, I have not come across that. It's VERY important that you do the stretching exercises before and after the workout to avoid this. Common sense! |

Is just me or are some of the things that folks wear to the gym enough to burn your retina, permanently? You know like a solar eclipse when the experts warn that looking right at it without a filter will cause irreparable damage. Read on for details but be warned, this will not be pretty.
Here the deal: I am not a high fashion gym guy. I'll wear an occasional Nike short and even more occasionally a logo shirt. On the other hand the sights I see at the gym can really hurt your eyes if you look too long or stare too hard. So as not be sexist please know that the conditions and descriptions mentioned herein apply to both men and women.
There are likely categories for the attire people choose to wear to workout and if there are no formal ones then I am here to make them up. The way I see it breaks down like this:
Terminally Fashionable: This god or goddess of workout is adorned head to toe in logo madness. Shirt, pants or shorts (or both), socks, shoes and hat all perfectly aligned. These are the same folks that seem to not sweat and may well send their workout clothes to the dry cleaner for that "just pressed" look. These are some of the same fabulous people that use the cell phone while walking the treadmill.
The Rumpled Ones: Though this can happen any day or time of the week, I find it to be especially prevalent on weekend mornings, say around 7 or 8 a.m. Bed head in place, crusty eyes, the "what the hell am I doing here after the thing I did last night" look; you know the ones. They do have a certain elegance in their wrinkled shirts and long, made for the beach, board shorts. One thing I found to be true though is that they are determined to work hard and I have watched their improvements over time. I applaud these folks for not caring about what's going on superficially outside. They care about results and it shows.
Stuck In The 70's: Tennis shorts, tucked in shirt, ankle high white socks with a portable 8 track player. All right I exaggerate, but not by much. These folks, again hard working, need to get one foot into the current millennium.
TMI (Too Much Information): Let's be clear here, no one I know wants to see that much of you or your parts. Just the other day I was doing a stretch on the floor. The women next to me, all of 7 feet away, was splayed over a ball in a tight thin cotton leotard like garment. She was not wearing any undergarments, this was obvious because in one glance I knew the camel toe had been spotted and refused to look back. Yes I am a healthy hetero male and no I do not need that much information. The male counterpart (perhaps they are related) insists on wearing short running shorts, again without any undergarments. I fondly call him FedEx because his package delivers at the gym. Again TMI!
One thing that all these ladies and gentlemen have in common is a desire to get off their butts and get to the gym. They are light years ahead of the slugs that are sitting on the couch eating Twinkies and chasing them with beer. I am of the mind that those are treats to have after you have done the workout! The reality is that what people wear is meaningless, fun to watch and write about, but meaningless none-the-less. This applies to everyone except FedEx. Please, I implore you for the sake of mankind, wear something under those short shorts or take a cue from the Terminally Fashionable and spend a couple of bucks to get your workout wardrobe an extreme makeover. If you don't cover up others will run the risk of permanent retina damage, just like a solar eclipse.

Denise Austin Hit the Spot: Abs: 3 Quick Tummy Tightening Workouts [VHS]

Description"Just 10 minutes every other day!" is Denise Austin's prescription for a flat, defined midsection, and she should know. Despite two babies, she has the abs of a teenage athlete. In this video, Austin presents a gazillion abdominal exercises formatted into three different 10-minute workouts. She gives plenty of instruction, with tips for form, alignment, and breathing, as well as the proper way to perform each move. Exercises target the rectus abdominis and obliques, and are varied enough so that you won't feel you're doing the same workout each day. A few of the exercises seem outdated and are less effective than others. Full sit-ups, little pulsing crunches, and standing twists, for example, don't work the abs as well as regular, slow crunches. And some of the exercises in the third segment could be stressful to your lower back if you don't already have strong abs. But Austin still gets credit for plenty of variety, which is what we want if we're committing ourselves to 10 minutes of abs every other day. --Joan Price ReviewsDenise's abs workout Segment One-eleven minutes A workout mat and a folded towel are needed for Segment One. Denise starts out Segment One lying down with the towel placed under the lower buttocks. She begins the exercises with twenty alternating leg raises and then does nine sit ups with the arms straight out, eight sit ups with the arms crossed at the neck, and ten regular sit ups. Denise repeats the sit ups going four, four, and four for the three different sit ups. The towel is placed under the knees and does twenty-one reverse sit-ups. Denise brings the knees to the right side with the towel still under the knees and does sixteen crunches. The knees come to the left side and she does fifteen crunches. The towel is place in between the knees and she starts off with twelve pelvic tilts; then a sit up is combine with a pelvic tilt and Denise does sixteen of the combination. With the right foot on the left knee Denise does a criss cross of left elbow to right knee twelve times and then the left foot is on the right knee she does a criss cross of right elbow to left knee fifteen times. Denise ends Segment One sitting up and doing some alternating hand stretches. Segment Two-ten minutes A workout mat is needed for Segment Two. Denise starts the routine sitting on the mat and begins twelve back tilts; she then switches to where the back is on the floor and back up again for six times. Now lying on her back with the knees bent and the arms straight she does a number of little pulses; to fast to count. Now with the right foot on the left knee, and still lying on your back, she does nine knee\leg raises. She switches her legs and does nine on that side. Next come seventeen regular crunches and ten fast crunches. After that come a combo of crunches and knee\leg lefts; thirteen on the left and eleven on the right. Denise does something with her hands crossed and straight out and does thirty-one reaches to the right side and thirty-one on the left side. Denise then lies on the back with legs straight up and does twenty-two straight arm pulses\reaches. The knees are brought to the chest with the hands under the knees and she rocks herself eight times. Denise ends Segment Two with a back stretch, half-spinal twist done on both sides, and two in & out exhales. Segment Three-eleven minutes Workout mat is needed for Segment Three. Denise starts Segment Three standing up with waist twists and switchers to fast, then normal, to twisting with arm punches and finally fast twists. Now with the arm stretch out she begins a series of moving the arms side t side. Then still with the arms straight out and moving side to side she does alternating waist touches. Denise then begins floor exercises. Lying on her back and knees bent she bring the knees in on her back and knees bent she bring the knees in and straight out twenty-two times. Then goes on and does an advanced modified version ten times. Sitting up and knees bent Denise moves the knee left right left and legs straight out and right left right and legs straight out. Denise repeats this several times. Now partially lying down she next does alternating in to out leg stretches. Later in that exercises arms are added. Denise then starts off doing arm curls and later adds back lifts to them. Denise next does alternating arm pulls. She ends Segment Three with thirty-one reverse sit ups with the feet crossed, with the legs straight up twelve sit ups, and the legs are still straight up for twenty-three footprints to the ceilings. The biggest beef I have with this video is that she does not do equal numbers workouts on the left and right side. If you do ten on the left then do ten on the right. Also, I like that there is a different workout each day, so I don't get bored doing the same thing every day. It's just enough variety, and very effective, which is why I keep at it. Several years ago, I got a tiny little voice recorder and used it to save the audio for all five sessions. It makes it easy for me to keep doing my abs while I'm traveling. Recently my VHS tape that I use at home has disappeared. I don't know how! It must have fallen down behind somewhere, but I can't find it! I went searching for it online ... thankfully, I found the DVD version of the tape at amazon so I'm going to buy that. I LOVE THIS WORKOUT. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm still using this 60 years from now. At least I hope I'll live that long. Tony hawks the Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells so pervasively it feels like this is an infomercial, which would bother me less if this were a free demo on YouTube, but becomes annoying very quickly when it's in a video set you paid $70 for. In one video, he plugs the product about half a dozen times - basically every time he reaches for the dumbbells. "Grab your Bowflex SelectTech adjustable dumbbells! . . . Thank you, Bowflex! I sure love these SelectTech adjustable dumbbells. . . . Don't forget your Bowflex SelectTech adjustable dumbbells!" These are already rushed DVDs, as they tried to pack each workout into a shorter package, and at times they're pretty short on explanation and tips. It would be nice to have that time spent on content instead of wasted repeatedly trying to get us to buy more stuff. Second, one of the great things about the original P90X is the variety of content. You had 6 strength training routines plus the Ab workout (sort of half a workout) and 5 cardio/stretch routines, plus a lovely Nutrition Book and Fitness Guide packed with information and exercise descriptions. This box is more like something out of a bargain bin. Gone are the info-packed books; it just includes a little pamphlet with more product placement, a short exercise program suggestion, and instructions to go to the website to get workout sheets. Beyond that, it costs about half what P90X does, but contains less than half the content: 2 new strength training routines plus a new Ab workout and 2 new cardio routines. So you spend half the money you did for the first program, but you get 4.5 routines with bare-bones informational material instead of 11.5 routines with two material-packed books. Despite the above, as I wrote at the outset, overall I'm content with the program, mostly because I like the new Kenpo workout, the Upper Body Plus workout is great, and I enjoyed the new Ab workout. I just wish I could give the product a whole-hearted 4 or 5 stars like Insanity and P90X instead of a hesitant 3. not happy p90x review alsome |

I'd highly recommend this DVD to anyone looking for a fun way to work out. Not as Advertised Loving it! Tilt, tuck and tighten! Shaun T. is really charismatic and motivational and keeps me going through every workout. My favorite workout by far is the Cardio Fat Burn since it's the workout with the most dance-routines. I make sure to work that one in every day - it's only thirty minutes and the time just flies by. I also really like how there is a tracker on the bottom that tells you what is coming up (which, I think makes it seem to go by faster, at least for me) and the music is really upbeat as well. I typically do at least two of the workouts per day and with time, I may look into his new program - Insanity. I would recommend this to anyone! Not the best- A little repetitive |

His Abs of Steel video was a bestseller, and the original Complete Book of Abs, published in 1993, was considered the bible of midsection exercises for trainers and fitness enthusiasts. The obsession has only grown since then, manifested by dubious infomercial products, a burgeoning fitness-magazine industry promising readers great abs with almost no investment of time and effort, and (perhaps because of the shortcomings of the first two phenomena) a boom in the demand for legitimate nutritionists and personal trainers. Even Brungardt himself came out with a 1998 book, 3-Minute Abs, to take advantage of the craze. With all that going on, it seems hard to believe that there's anything new to say about abdominal exercise. Indeed, this revised version of The Complete Book of Abs doesn't really try. There is a new prebeginner midsection routine, which leads into the more advanced exercise regimens described in the original book, and a handful of new exercises. But other than that, the expanded sections are in nutrition (several new pages of recipes) and total-body fitness (new photos demonstrating exercises for body parts other than abs). Still, the original package is a terrific deal: more than 100 exercises, numerous training routines, and lots of basic information about exercise and diet. Each abdominal exercise is rated for difficulty on a scale of 1 to 3 and how risky it is to the lower back. The routines are complete and thoughtfully compiled, and there's not a bit of advice in the entire book that isn't scientifically legitimate. ReviewsHighly Recommend!!!! this book is not limited to giving a long list of available exercises. it provides excellent strategies for making life-long changes in all dimensions of your life including diet. it provides an excellent 24 week workout schedule (plus an additional 6 weeks before entering this schedule if you have never done any exercise before in your life). this might seem like an exceptionally long workout schedule, but this book is not geared towards the get ripped quick schemes you hear about. the goal and purpose of this book is to encourage life changes that will allow you to maintain and improve on your results for the rest of your life. if you simply diet, then when the diet is over, you will gain back what you lost; thereby losing your gains. my appreciation of this book comes from its commitment to help you get healthy and stay healthy. if you want an 8 pack by the end of the month, look elsewhere. if you want to get ripped in a healthy, steady fashion and stay that way for the rest of your life, get this book. also, this books section on dieting is good. but, i would recommend getting another source for information on this aspect of your life and use this section of the book as a supplement to that other source. i strongly recommend Insanity by Beachbody. i do the workouts recommended by the book reviewed here, and on the days off, i do the Insanity workouts (for cardio). the Insanity workouts are supposed to be daily, but i just do them every other day or so. but, the main reason why i recommend the Insanity package here is because it has a much more thorough guide to nutrition. the book and Insanity together give you everything you need to know about nutrition, including simple formulas to calculate exactly how many calories you should intake daily and a very large variety of healthy AND DELICIOUS meals. love life, and let it love you back. get healthy. If not, then buy a newer book on TOTAL BODY WORKOUTS (like those edited by Men's or Women's Health), abs are just a part of your body, and if you don't eat well and do regularly both aerobic exercises and weight-lifting (and I don't mean pressing 300 lbs.) you will never see your toes no matter how many abs you do.
