Good cushioning and durable

I use the mat 3 times a week for my ab routine and I'm on it for the majority of the workout. I mainly purchased it for cushioning because my older, thinner mat wasn't providing any for my coccyx. It was painful and uncomfortable for me but the pain and discomfort disappeared after using this mat for my ab workouts and I'm very satisfied with it. If I need more cushioning, I just fold one of the parts up and I'm ready to perform those Russian twists without discomfort.

The wear and tear just started to show a couple of months ago, which is pretty amazing since I throw it around the cement floor when I use it. You can't tell from the picture but each part of the mat has a zipper to access the foam. This is great because they're giving you easy access if you want to clean or replace the foam.

The only downside to this is how slippery it can get. I sweat profusely during workouts and when I need to perform a side bridge/bridge, my forearms slip away slowly from the original position I placed them. Of course the solution to this is to use a towel but they should upgrade the material to a non-slip surface in the future.

Nevertheless, it's a great exercise mat.

What padding?

I was disappointed with the ability of this mat to cushion my sitting bones while doing P90X (P90X+) ab routines. The 3/4" floor matting I use does a little better job, and what's the point of adding this on top of the matting if the padding immediately gives way when you sit on it? Padding needs to pad.

Great product

I have severe muscle spasms in my low back and have to do exercises to strengthen my core. With my back still sore this thick mat is great. It is large enough to do my stretches and thick enough that I don't have pain doing them. It is a good quality mat also, folds up nicely for storage and easy to carry with the handles sewn into the mat.

I like the mat. It has plenty of cushion and folds up nicely. My only complaint is I wish it was a little longer. When I do push ups, it tends to slip on my carpet. I am learning to work around this and would probably not discount it for this reason only. I believe the other matts are the same length

This is a perfect mat. I have a hardwood floor and needed something to cushion my body for floor exercises. It folds up nicely for storage.

Cushy mat...while it lasts...

Was using this for P90X, it was good cushioning and the only complaint in the first month was that I should have gotten a longer mat as my 6'1" height was a bit much for some of the exercises. However, the severe problems with the mat came when the shoddy stitching burst and I was left with a busted mat after about 3 months.

Moldy mat!

I don't know if I just happened to receive the one defective mat in the lot, but when I opened it up, there were these huge, brown splotches all over the entire mat! It looks like there may have been moisture in the mat when it was packaged. I tried wiping them off with a damp towel and later Windex. While it did get rid of the brown spots, I could still see the outlines of the splotches reflected the light. I'm not sure if it's mold, but whatever it is gives me the willies! No way am I going to put my body on that.

Perfect for Stretching - Highly Recommended!

The SPRI Folding Exercise Mat is exactly what I needed for stretching out before going to TaeKwonDo class. Being middle-aged, the regular class warm up isn't enough for my tight old muscles so extra time spent doing stretching on this mat is an important way to prevent injury. Here are my observations:

Pros -
+ Large Size; 6' x 2' easily accommodates me for most stretching
+ Thick Pad; 1.5" foam is comfortable and absorbs most of the impact shock from getting up and down
+ Flat; since it folds and doesn't roll up, the mat lays perfectly flat
+ Easy to Clean; wipes up and doesn't appear to stain
+ Easy to Transport; folds to 3' x 2' x 3" and has attached handles

Cons -
- Slight Plastic Smell; the vinyl cover has a faint smell that lessens over time

This was a good choice for my needs and it would likely be good for Yoga and Pilates as well.

Incredibly comfortable mat

Very comfortable and functional mat. I am a bit bony and a regular thin exercise mat is not adequate for me. This is very comfortable without being too soft or squishy. Highly recommmended.

Good product but heavy

This product is exactly as advertised. Careful what you ask for! This is a heavy duty exercise mat. It would work best in a fitness room in your house or in a gym. I find it a bit heavy for setting up on your living room floor for a quick session. But I think I will take it along camping this summer. It is a sturdy, comfortable mat, well made.

I used to go the gym regularly (2hrs day, 7 days a week). But recently, I've moved to a home gym. Well, this home gym is in a basement with a cold cement floor. I wanted a standard gym mat that wasn't too soft and squishy, would take lots of abuse, and would protect me from the cold cement floor. Well, this sucker is wonderful. The pad is thick and firm, I cannot feel the cement through the pad. My husband does pushups on it and he says it feels great. It is easy to clean and well made (seams and stitching are great). Also, carrying this things around (folding and unfolding w/ handle) is easy. I have a small gym, so I fold it out of the way when I'm not using it. If you leave a heavy item (like a 25lb weight) on the pad overnight, it'll leave a dent, but then magically when you come back later for your workout, its gone!

Excellent value

This product is worth the extra cost. The foam is denser and the cover is more durable than the cheaper alternatives. Get this one if you want a mat that lasts.
