Not what I expected

I guess I didn't read the description very carefully. I thought this was built like a weight with a clock on it, but it's just a regular clock with a picture of a weight as the background on the inside of the clock. Unimpressed and planning to return it.


Not what I expected

I was extremely disappointed with this product so much so that I threw it in the trash immediately. The clock face itself was like a poor photocopy of xeroxed copy of a barbell. Couldn't fool a blind man.

Fun video but not as easy as it looks

This should be your first work out tape unless you actively do an arobics exercise and are in reasonalbe shape. I found Neon's instruction in the 'step-by-step' section very helpful. This section is great for thoes who do not have any background. For thoes who have background, the section makes a great check and drill. No matter your size, this workout really works out most of the target areas. I think Luscious is a nice but challengin work out for beginners. I am pushing into my one year in belly dancing, and i found this video informative, creative and simply divine. the music is perfect for each section. I never got bored with this workout because of how each dancer lead the section and the different costumes. My arms and thighs alone burned with satisfaction.

This is not for beginners--you can't see their feet, they go to fast and they get caught up in their performance that they forget it is supposed to be for beginners. Don't waste your money-- Rania has some better DVD's out there that are really great for beginners.

I did break a sweat but it was because I was trying so hard to keep up and I still was confused and lost. I never knew if my feet were positioned right or not because I could not see their feet. These people should give people who bought this DVD back their money because they misrepresented--it is not for beginners! It is for the advanced--probably those who took their classes.


Perfect basic yummy practice for beginners

If you are brand new to bellydance, I highly recommend this DVD. I have had several bellydance DVDs, and use different ones for different reasons, but I'd rate this one very high in the "practice the basics while enjoying yourself" category ... it gives a very nice fundamental dance vocabulary for your body and dance, to practice and build on as time goes by ... I find all of the teachers and the instructions to be very pleasant and good as well ... There are pointers and some instruction, most especially in the technique breakdown ... It's nice because you are having fun and feeling good while learning and increasing your skill ... Also it provides a healthy dose of how moves affect your body (internal and external) and encourages self expression and Love ... Om Shanti


Luscious DVD for a Beginner? I think not.

I have watched/attempted the Shimmy series on FITv for a while, and wanted a DVD so I could learn more. After some research, I found the Luscious workout for beginners. I just tried this DVD a few minutes ago and I'm probably going to end up selling it on Amazon or eBay.

I have done step classes and aerobic classes before - so I am used to cues and general choreography, so I figured I could do this DVD with a bit of ease. Yeah. NO.

Let me start off saying I DID DO THE TUTORIAL section, and even then I was lost. This is ****NOT**** for beginners. I didn't expect to get all the moves on the first try, but when I'm still stuck on the first move because I can't see her legs (wearing long skirts) and her explanations are confusing - you realize it's not going to be a good workout. I need to SEE her legs/knees doing the dance! So you're confused and they move fast, then as if her one explanation would do the trick, they add arms to the move, so now it's REALLY confusing! Then in a mocking way, they show the steps all together with the dancers. Am I supposed to follow that? I just stood there and watched. Wow.

I'm very very disappointed in this DVD. I thought it would be at least the same as the FITv one, there wasn't even a warm up. I'm unsure if I'm going to try this out again, my frustration level is quite high, I think they should've broken this DVD up into a set, it's just way too much, too quick and for a true beginner.

Like I said, I did not expect to get it right away, but when I'm on tutorial one and not getting the moves right, it leaves little motivation to continue on. I figure IF I do this DVD again, I am going to have to master the tutorial, entirely, in steps, then try to move onto the workout. I'm not sure if I want to put that much time into this, when I can pop in a different exercise DVD and work up a sweat. This seemed fun, but after doing it, I wasn't having fun with it - isn't that was exercise is all about?

Unless you've done shimmy/belly dancing before, I would NOT recommend this DVD.


START WITH THE TUTORIAL

If you start the dvd from the beginning, it starts with circles, and can be too fast paced. I tried it once and put it away for nearly a year. Then I took it out again, and realized you have to deliberately start with the tutorial, and I highly recommend it. It takes you step by step through the movements, and the video can be too hard to follow without it.

The best stretching video I have found.

Years ago after purchasing Runner's World BREAKTHROUGH STRETCHING I did not think I could find a better tape to help me stretch my body in preparation for/or following a more intense workout such as speedwalking or running. Karen Voight's PURE AND SIMPLE STRETCH is simply outstanding. I consider it to be a rival to BREAKTHROUGH STRETCHING.

It's nice that Karen includes men in her workout. My husband and I are both over 50 and regular stretching becomes more and more important every day. This tape is wonderful too in that it is not too long. It is 35 minutes of careful instruction. Modifications for those who cannot do some of the more advanced stretches are also included. I have found that as a female I am more flexible than my husband. He appreciates that there is someone out there that undestands his limitations and is willing to accomodate him in his efforts to better increase his flexibility. I would therefore strongly reoommend this tape to BOTH women AND men.

Ahhh, I remember...

...how annoying I found Dolphina and her video. And now that I've sampled other DVD instruction by professional dancers, I can see I was correct in thinking she was all about trying to look sultry and alluring and not so much about teaching the dance. Granted, back then I couldn't make it through the arms section, but that's because they're my weakest area and she did them to death.

My experience with this video made me check reviews before making a purchase because I didn't want to make the same mistake twice. And I didn't. If you're interested in belly dance taught methodically and well, I would suggest looking into New York World Dance's DVDs and videos. One of the DVDs I own, "Love Potion," includes an instructional section, a practice flow, the workout dance using the moves learned before, and an extra choreographed dance at the end. With the workout and practice flow, that's 90 minutes.


Nice Video

I wouldn't really call this a workout, it's more like a bellydancing video. You won't work up a sweat with it like an aerobic workout, but you will learn basic bellydancing moves. In my case, I discovered ways of moving that I didn't even think were possible. It's a little funny though, how Dolphina makes weird faces sometimes. If you are looking for a workout were you can sweat a lot, this isn't for you, but if you want to learn to bellydance this is a good video.
Another thing, it's pretty long, I usually get tired halfway through the video. Mostly my arms. By the way, the costumes she wears are really cute, and the settings are nice. I actually bought myself a bellydancing belt with hanging coins to do this workout. It made me feel more feminine.


very pleasantly surprised

I read some of the other reviews on this dvd, and was expecting ... maybe a dud ... but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't find Dolphina's references to religion, chakras, or any of the other less-than-commercial ideologies to be detrimental - more her personal view of the inner workings of the dance. I enjoyed it, and found it to be well planned and beautifully presented. Some of the production values - sound, and camera angles, could have been better... (sometimes you can't see her feet, for a move, sometimes the crashing ocean makes her words difficult to hear), but overall I found it to be an excellent value, an enjoyable session, and probably a lot more akin to the dances of our ancient mothers, in character, than some of the Raqs Sharqi instructionals structured in discipline like a modern ballet class.

Dolphina

I have to admit Dolphina is quite the character but once you get past her random references to chakras, past lives and exercises that make,"magical things happen" you realize that it's a pretty ok DVD. It has a warm up, exercises, routines and a cool down. It adds a little spice to what would normally be boring and mundane squats, lunges and ab work but because you're dancing and focusing on your body's movements, you're less aware of the burn you feel when you get a good work out. It's not incredibly intense but some dances are challenging and I'm thinking, Dolphina slow down -like when she just goes off the deep end shimmying into oblivion. You get better each time you do the dvd, you are exercising but it's fun.

I think Yoga Burn is really good. I didn't give it a 5 starts because I would like it to be a little more challenging, maybe more repetition and more abs, but I guess that's why they made a Yoga Abs :P
This one really works though, it has tone my body rather quickly, and it is good for people that is returning to work out after being off for awhile.


still my favorite yoga dvd

I've had this dvd for the past four years. I haven't practiced yoga in a year or so because life just got very busy. However, I decided to start practicing again today and went back to this dvd. After four years, this is still one of my favorite yoga dvds. The poses are simple enough for beginners, but still a good work out for intermediate students. Since it is a slow pace you have to hold your poses longer, which means build more control over your muscles.

The poses you need to know are simple beginner's poses: downward dog, warrior poses, boat pose, chair pose, forward bend, staff, single leg staff, etc.

Right now, my muscles are complete jello, and I have a feeling they will just be sore tomorrow. SO instead I will do a combination of 1 session of AM Yoga for your week (also Rodney Yee) and the Beginner's Yoga (also by Rodney Yee) tomorrow and go back to Yoga Burn the day after. My goal is to work my way back up to Power Yoga (also by Rodney Yee) which is a lot harder workout.

Fantastic! Easy enough for intermediate yoga students but challenging enough for advanced! Relaxing, challenging, perfect! I feel so relaxed despite sweating through this dvd. Wish he included modifications though.


cultivate patience, stillness and strength at the same time

I am an intermediate level yoga practitioner, having done both hatha and kundalini for many years, and I generally favor a vigorous, moderately paced vinyasa flow class or kundalini class so this was a whole new experience for me. True, I love and do the original Power Yoga series by Bryan Kest and he holds the postures for long stretches of time, but the entire tempo of this DVD is uniquely and intentionally slow. Now often it's easy to associate slow with easy, and all yoga is essentially easy because you should only be doing what you can in the moment, but this practice is actually very challenging and a valuable tool for building physical strength. Being a reformed gym rat, I compare this to training with heavier weights for very slow reps (emphasizing the negative resistance) and just a few reps per move as opposed to using lighter weight and higher reps. One builds a base of strength, the other develops stamina and sculpts. Both are immensely important aspects of physical training of any kind.

This DVD begins with seated ab-work and twists, and I love that he does navel poses right away when you have your full strength for maximum safety. He gradually moves you into standing postures and it's really a new experience for me to not just hold poses a bit longer, but to move in and out of them with such stillness, slowness and mindfulness. That last aspect strikes me as a somewhat hidden benefit here as well; you are absolutely forced into maximum presence when you move this slowly, just to keep your form in tact, thus making this into both a physically strengthening series and a powerful form of moving meditation. I found that my daily frustrations melted away as I had to intently focus on my movements with this, and that feels truly liberating.

I also enjoy the unobtrusive and lovely music in the background. The set is aesthetically pleasing and you even have the option of either detailed instruction by Yee or just hearing him call out the basic posture names/descriptions if you would like a more quiet practice. And of course, as always Rodney demonstrates every pose and every graceful move in and out of them with perfect form. I find him inspiring without being intimidating, he never radiates ego like some teachers.

I think beginners can do this DVD safely if they do listen to what he's saying on the detailed instruction track, and I also think that an intermediate practitioner can benefit greatly from this class as a form of muscle confusion and slowing down their practice to focus on form. I find that even after over 20 years of practice, I personally fall prey to the tendency to rush through a vinyasa or a class at times and when we do that, we can lose crucial form factors very easily without noticing and we also miss out on the benefit of moving in and out of poses more mindfully.

I plan to alternate this with the vinyasa flow classes I also enjoy, and in that have the perfect yin and yang energies in my own home practice.


Are you a contortionist?

I read a review that said a beginner could do this tape. Not true unless you are very flexable or a contortionist. Rodney Yee is a master that has been doing yoga for over twenty years. He is truley great. This tape is way past my ability, I just started doing yoga and I am not flexiable enought for this work out.

Challenging and fast paced

This video is for those who already know the Pilates Technique. It is a very fast paced video, although it does have all levels represented from Basic to Super Advanced. I love that you can do a Super Advanced workout in 30 minutes, and feel like you've really worked your core muscles. It's an excellent workout and perfect if you only have a few minutes to devote to yourself. If you do not know Pilates, you need to study up and take some classes before you try this DVD. I got this DVD 3 weeks ago and have worked out at least 16 times with it, and have felt great! I have even noticed that my tummy is more defined and flat!!!!

I've been dancing ballet for over 10 years and I started pilates 3 years ago. This DVD is awesome and it has a bit from each level, so that you can adjust the exercises to your own fitness level. This is definitely one of the better pilates DVDs out there (there are so many awful ones...) and I highly recommend it. It helped me get in better shape for performances.

Excellent Efficient Workout

I bought this DVD for the purpose of strengthening core muscles to help improve my mountain biking skills and also to alleviate lower back pain and increase flexibility. I perform the "advanced" exercise routine (about 20 mins long) two days a week with results beyond what I could have ever expected.

Yes, the video does move fast. Yes, you will break a sweat while performing these exercises. And ... yes, you will obtain results.

I recommend the use of a thick (~5/8") closed-cell foam mat while performing these exercises, particularly if you are doing them on a hard surface.

The DVD is scalable to your particular ability level, which is useful when starting out. You can ratchet up the levels as you become more proficient. I have yet to attempt the "super advanced" level yet ... maybe one day.

Package delivered on time. Good quality product. All the capsules are in good shapes no broken ones. If you take the pills on time and keep a good diets and exercises this will give you a boost. The only thing you have to be concerned is that you will be going to the toilet more often that you use to be.


Good but prepare for the side effects

I just started using this a couple of hours ago. I took 2 pills and I felt nothing for the first hour. But then in the start of the 2nd hour I felt my heart pounding all of a sudden. It felt like I was about to have a heart attack. But after I felt that feeling I just got up, and started walking around. 5 minutes later I felt like running 20 miles straight. So yes, this product works, but you WILL FEEL THE SIDE EFFECTS. Don't panic when your heart starts racing. Just get up and start walking around.

I used the recalled version of Hydroxycut over a year and a half ago. After trying the new formula I quicky realized it was incredibly weaker, although it saved me alot of money compared to GNC. Although it was not as strong, I did see a greater increase in the fat I lost after I continued my regular workouts. It wont burn the fat off you or make you go to the gym. With a good workout routine and giving up a couple of unhealthy snack, losing weight is simple. I went from a 19yr old, 5'9" 235lbs, to 210lbs in a couple of weeks. I would definetely recommend it to everyone.


Caffeine pills

If caffeine does something for you then by all means use it. As for me, this is nothing like the Hydroxycut Hardcore Ive taken in the past. The first 2 weeks I took Hydroxycut w/ ephridrine last yr I lost between 7-10 lbs. It burned fat fast and gave me energy and motivation. With this formula Ive lost 1 lb in 2 weeks. It gives me no energy to work out longer. I have to talk myself into staying at the gym longer than 30 mins with this formula. Hopefully I can find another product that works, Im done with Hydroxycut. Its a shame, I really used to support the product.

Yay! Finally....a difference!!!

I am now officially done with my bottle of Lipo 6 Black Hers. I purchased these pills to "jump start" my healthier diet & exercise regimen. Initially, I started with taking two pills in the morning as soon as I woke up, and two pills 30 min. before lunch, each with a tall glass of water. I had a little trouble sleeping, so I adjusted to taking only three pills in the morning everyday. Two hours after my dosage, my body felt warmer and it stimulated me to drink more water to cool down throughout the day! Lipo 6 Black Hers has definitely provided that extra boost to adjust to a healthier lifestyle. I've tried other diet pills in conjunction with diet & exercise, and the scale (or my body) never budged and I would lose motivation to continue. I am now motivated!! At 5'2", I started at 134 lbs. (I'm a pretty muscular female) and 6 lbs. later, I am now at 128 lbs. For a shorter person, it's hard to notice weight loss, but I can tell a difference. I know it's not water weight, as that has been consistent at 56% and my body fat percentage has decreased by 2%. Yes, it's not much, but it's not going to fall off magically and I did not take the suggested servings of six pills a day. Test your tolerance slowly first...

After a month of not taking any type of pills, I took the full dosage of 3 pills when I got these. Big mistake as I felt instant burning in my stomach but dissipated when I ate breakfast. So I had cut down my usage to 1 pill 2-3 times a day, depending on how late I work. This has been working great for me since I've noticed a huge difference in my appetite. I'm also combining this with my Slim Fast diet plan, another reason to cut down on the pills, and it appears to be helping, but its only been a few days.

My recommendation is to really start slow and see what your tolerance to these pills are. I was immune to pretty much every other pill so I was quite surprised that I felt these pills instantly the moment I took them. Hope this helps...


Don't do it!

I was on these pills for about a week and ended up in the hospital because they were ruining my kidneys. I made sure to stay hydrated but apparently drinking about 10 cups of water a day still wasn't enough for these pills. I've used other pills before and never had such a serious side effect. I'll never take these pills again!

Another one of my favorite products is NO-Shotgun! The reason I enjoy using this product is because it helps increase the blood flow in my veins prior to my workout. This allows me to have the extra energy to push out those last hard reps. Being able to push harder and longer during my workouts has given me huge results a whole lot quicker than before using NO-Shotgun.


Better of the Pre Workout Supps.

I've taken such pre workout supps such as no xplode, black powder, etc. This beats them all.

I took this at the beginning of summer 2 years ago and weighed in at 135 lb. From May - beginning of Aug, I gained weight and weighed in at 150. My pumps were better; my strength and energy increased during my workouts. Not only does it have your typical pre workout crap in it, but it also has protein and their "redline" fat loss stuff in it, too. Oh and that summer I had a normal diet and did not take protein afterward.

Ya, the taste is pretty terrible, but the results are worth it. My only warning is do not take this on a complete empty stomach and drink plenty of water because there is a good chance you will dehydrate yourself and/or become incredibly nauseous.

No jitters but your skin feels a little tingly. Don't drink it late at night because it will keep you up. Drink it when you work out and you will run out of your routine before you run out of energy. Get a can of SYNERGY too by the same company with. no, NO SHOTGUN for late in the day useage, to still deliver aminos withou the "buzz". Sells for $45 in my health food store so this price is easy to swallow!

Kidney Pain!

My boyfriend starting taking NO shotgun a few days ago. The first day he took it his work-out was great. The next day, he started experience back-pain in the kidney area! The pain was so bad he had to lay down. The product also made him go to the restroom several times in only 5-15 minutes!

Build Muscle Mass

I was talking to your median hard gainer yesterday in the gym. This guy had kept on working his butt off for months without anything and everything to show for it, I informed him he needed to tedious work his big muscles and swell muscle mass instead of focusing on the lowered muscle. He did not understand what I was talking about. So when we completed we sat downhill and spoke about how he could gain muscle mass with simple exercises he needed to can identify right about and use.

As weight lifting and workout programs have developed over the years they have become more focused on functional exercises that mimic real life activities and use a wide range of movements. These functional exercises are made up from a wide range of compound exercises. Compound exercises are exercises that use multiple joint movements that will use several muscle groups at the same time and are great if you want to gain muscle mass.

Squats are the best example of a compound exercise. When doing squats you will use your glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings and calves. Your lower back and core are also used in the movement, so in one motion you are working over half of your body. Build Muscle Mass

What are the benefits of compound exercises? The first is the ability to gain muscle mass quickly. These exercises use the larger muscle groups; it is these muscles that give the impression of a large muscular frame, so if you are a hard gainer or you want to bulk up quickly compound exercises are perfect for you. However gaining muscle mass is not the only benefit. By using the bigger muscles you will burn more calories during the exercise and you can work out longer with less muscle fatigue. You will improve joint stability and decrease the risk of injury. You will get a full body workout faster and you will be able to gain more strength and lift heavier loads.

Compound exercises include Dead lift Pull Ups Press Ups Dips Chest Press Shoulder Press Squats Lunges Rows As you begin to gain muscle mass you will be able to start targeting specific muscle groups with isolation exercises to quickly bulk up. So if you want to build up your biceps you will be able to target them but remember they will be working indirectly when you do compound exercises.

During the off season most athletes concentrate on compound exercises to gain muscle mass before they begin the rigours of pre season training and lose some of their lean muscle mass. Over the next few months I will be interested to see if the hard gainer has taken any of this on board. No matter what your training needs are compound exercises should be in everyone's workout routine but if you want to gain muscle mass fast then you need to build your routine around them.
