I love these resistance bands… I use them to do my P90X work out and they are great.. The travel bag is great, it doesn’t take much space and I can take them with me when I travel.. Great product!!!

The bands work as they are supposed to. However I have yet to figure out hoe to attach the door connections for the leg workout and after emails to the company I still have no reply. I don’t believe the customer service for this product is very good and doubt that I would buy anything else from them.

Good value for bands with a couple of negatives
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I purchased these bands for a inexpensive option for use with my P90X program. I used them for the first 180 days of the program without incident. The bands work well and it is nice to have 3 different sets that can also be combined for more weight as you progress. My connectors were plastic…the current ones in the photo look like they may be metal, but the plastic connectors sometimes took too much time to change in between my sets…I did get better at changing them as time went by. Another issue was the plastic connectors scraping up against my skin…they have some semi sharp edges and after doing 15-20 reps with exercises such as shoulder presses, I actually broke the skin on my arms the first couple of times I used them….I learned quickly to adjust my body to avoid that, but it takes some time to get used to it. I should also state that I am a relatively big guy at 6-4, 215 lbs so smaller people probably wont have the same problem as the tension may be less. The only other issue I have is the foam on the handles seems cheap compared to other bands I have used…it is pretty thin foam. That being said, I got these on sale and for what you get for 20 bucks, it is really difficult to complain about the few minor issues with them….if you are looking for a value set to get you started with your health, I would recommend these without hesitation.

Even though this product comes with a dvd there isn’t very detailed instructions on how to use the product. It does show different exercises but doesn’t show you initially how to hook the different bands together and to the doors.

Ain’t What It Promises – For the Waste Can
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
For your purchase, you get a cheap video presentation on a DVD with static poses for all the exercises you can do. The instruction on the video or CD is just like a book — only worse — for each illustration you have to keep clicking your computer or DVD player to move to the next part of the exercise or a brand new exercise.

Next, there are only two exercises that really are workouts for the legs. These put too much emphasis on the knees. If you’ve got to careful of your knees, or if you have knee problems, there are no other substitute exercises to do, so you’re pretty much left working your arms or doing one “lame” leg exercise that’s hardly worth your time. As well, there’s not even one ab workout in this program.

You get three differently colored pieces of rubber tubing, a bag, and some velcro attachments. Nothing’s clear about which color to use first, second or third or which is for beginning, intermediate, and advanced. One of the attachments is pretty cool, however, in that it allows you to use the rubber tubing over your closed office or bedroom door.

You get a black synthetic bag in which to carry all these synthetic appurtenances. Honestly, Wallgreens sells this exercise stuff cheaper and is as good. It all has the feel of something made in China and in haste.

I was very disappointed with the product. This is not really a practical mobile (home) gym at all.

This is a nice set of resistance bands. I find them easy to pick up and do some upper body work while watching TV. I haven’t really explored the exercises related to the lower body, but I’m enjoying the bands a lot.

This set is really great and you can use it for so many exercises. The best part is that you can use just one band or use 2 or all 3 to build more resistance as you work up. Plus it was really cheap compared to other sets I’ve seen or to buying each band on its own.

    Go anywhere work out equipment
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The bands, the case and the DVD are great for people who travel or who want some simple equipment for an at-home work out. The DVD is done well – clear, simple instructions for a total body work out.

This is a creative opportunity. I found I didn’t need the door thingie. Door knobs and hinges served may purposes. It’s a greaat challange to create moves using the tubes. I love it. An alternative to free weights and machines is always welcome.

    FItness while you travel
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Somebody was really thinking clearly in designing the GoFit Ultimate ProGym. This kit is very easy to pack and yet has enough resistance to support a pretty thorough upper and lower body workout when you travel. The quality of construction is as good as any I’ve seen in competing resistance band products. It has all the attachments required to hook it up to door frames and to attach to your feet.

If I have one beef it is that the accompanying DVD needs additional engineering so that you can access individual exercises directly from menus. Some options are offered but it doesn’t always reliably return to the menu after going over an exercise.

One addiditonal benefit is access to the web site. There are other exercises on the web site and there are “mini” videos available to demosntrate how to do them properly.

We are so pleased with this product that we bought a second one to keep at our vacation condo.

A Bowflex for the Poorer (or Frugal) crowd
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This great product offers a fast, easy, safe and reliable FULL-BODY work out, and really helps to tone leg, arm and back muscles, while building power and endurance.

Easy to use, with a handy picture-guide and DVD with instructions, workouts, circuits, and tips.

In my opinion, you can perform *almost* the same full-body workouts with these sturdy resistance bands, as you can with much, much more expensive (larger, heavier,) exercise machines.

    Nifty workout kit.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My job takes me away from home a lot, often to fairly remote areas with no gym facilities. I decided to try resistance tubing, and this set looked to be the most bang for the buck. At first, I found the action of the tubing a little awkward: for folks used to free weights or weight-stack machines, it will take a while to grow accustomed to resistance tubing. (I suspect using a machine such as a Bowflex might require much the same adjustment interval.) I wondered how effective tubing could really be, since it has relatively light resistance at the beginning of a movement, with max resistance at the “top” of a movement. However, after being away from home for two weeks, I found that using the ProGym had at the very least maintained my fitness. In the case of bicep curls and tricep extensions, my strength actually increased. Note also that you can do exercises with this equipment that can’t be done with free weights or stack machines, especially core exercises. For travelers, or folks wanting an inexpensive home gym setup, I heartily recommend the ProGym, perhaps augmented with a set or two of dumbbells.

    Good workout, good value
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a handy, well designed item. I was surprised by the quality of the the exercises that are demonstrated on the DVD. They focus on strengthening the core. I had just finished a course of PT for a back issue and these exercises were consistent with those prescribed by my physical therapist.

My only quibble may have more to do with my own impatience, and has nothing to do with the quality of the product, but applies to the use of bands in general. Each time you want to change the height of the bands you have to unthread the bands from the strap that holds them in place behind the door, open the door and move the door strap, and rethread the bands. As I speak I wonder how anybody who’s too lazy to do that can get teh motivation to exercise at all.

    FITNESS IN A BAG!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have used this product for over a year now, and have recommended it to many of my exercize-phobic friends.

I purchased it to supplement my regimen on days when weather prohibits swimming in my pool, which is only about 60 days per year. I enjoyed them so much I now use them and some dumbells every night in addition to the swimming. It is interesting how the bands and the dumbells provide a different workout doing the same exercizes. I like alternating both.

The best feature in my opinion is the instructional DVD. The instructor clearly demonstrates the correct way to use the bands. It really helps. Also, the chart that comes with the kit is easy to understand, but nothing beats the DVD. After awhile, of course, you don’t need it.

The blue band snapped after about six months. I called GoFit and they promptly sent a free replacement which has lasted.

Bottom-line: after a year of faithful use I can honestly say I am stronger and look better. What more can you ask for?

    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The quality of this item is very poor. The clasps on the end of the bands are made from plastic and break very easily. They should be made of metal for durability. Mine even arrived damaged. I cannot see how the clasps would last very long with normal wear.

Great Gym at Home or on the Go
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I recommended this for anyone to use at home or when traveling. I was really surprised how strong these are – they won’t break – and how much resistance you can really get. I’ve used other cables and snapped my share, but these are just well-built. This kit comes with some really handy extras too, like the door attachment and the leg attachment. If you wanted something that could give you the fullest possible workout with only what you can fit in your carry on, this is it.

I have been using the pro gym from GoFit for several years. I have enjoyed using the ease, portability and quality of this workout equipment. When I needed some replacement bands, I contacted the GoFit headquarters in Oklahoma. Was I ever amazed at the incredible customer service! They bent over backwards to take care of me. I am now a GoFit customer for life. BTW, I do not work for, receive any benefits from, or otherwise have any stake in GoFit. I just felt I needed to praise them publicly for a job well done.

    Great Idea – Quality Problems
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This is a great portable set. The set does not come with a lot of exercise ideas but you can find video of exercises on the GoFit website and youtube. There are also books and dvds that use resistance bands for even more exercises.

The set could be greatly improved with a few minor changes.

    1) The ankle straps are thin and dig into your skin when using any force with a band. I’ve tried putting a cloth between the strap and my leg but it doesn’t stay in place easily.

    2) The clips that attach the bands to the handles/ankle strap are plastic (not metal as they should be) and easily break. The clip on the heavy green band broke the first time I used it. Thank God the band did not hit me because that would have really hurt! The clips are also very difficult to open when changing the bands and/or handles/ankle strap.

Overall, I like the set but the quality and lack of exercises that come with it are very poor. I would recommend purchasing another brand if you plan to use them frequently.

The Go Fit Ultimate ProGym with DVD resistance tubes for $20.00.
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Upon initial inspection I found that the package did come with everything stated in the description but varied a little bit in what they actually where.

First off, and I think the most important, the resistance tubes do not come with the metal connectors that are shown in the picture and on the dvd. The way the tubes connect are with a hard plastic loop totally enclosed which connects to somewhat of a low quality carabineer that is attached to the handle. The carabineer can be replaced.

The other discrepancies are more minor, the description stated that it comes with a poster of exercises but in my package it came with a little pamphlet showing the exercises that are shown in the dvd.

The last discrepancy that I found was that the workout was supposed to be preformed by Lynda Leene but instead it was done by Mark Verstagen (?) and a woman with the first name of Jacklyn. In all actuality there really isn’t a work out per say but a collection on exercises for beginners, intermediate, and advanced.

I haven’t been able to use this product for a long enough time to see if the hard plastic hoops that connect to the handle will hold up but they seem to be doing just fine for now.

The exercise poster wasn’t a big deal to me but I wish it would have came with a more motivating workout.

I would recommend this product to individuals that are curious about resistance tube training and want to see what its all about but if you are a tube vet then I would go with a more durable product.

    User Beware
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The GoFit Ultimate Gym should be issued with a warning. On my first use, the hook at the end of one of the bands broke, sending the band and the broken hook flying back on the door and making a large hole in it–bad enough, but I am glad it went that way and I dii not go flying with the hook pursing me. I shall be writing to GoFit with a complaint. I wanted to alert users to this real danger.

Perhaps I received a faulty product but the high resistance tube broke the first time I used it. Gee, I’m not that strong! I was doing a bicep curl as demonstrated on the poster with both feet standing on the band. It broke apart at the connection and nearly busted my toe.

    Poor craftmanship…DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
My fiance and I started the P90X system about 2.5 weeks ago. We decided that we were going to get some bands to use for the time being before getting a weight set and so that I can use them when I travel. After only a week of use, the 35lbs band snapped during a workout, and then the handle on the 25 pound weight is starting to split and tear apart. The craftmanship is shotty at best and not worth the time and effort to order them. Spend a little more and get something stronger and better made. Also, look for something that has a stationary handle…believe that it will definitely make a difference.

Great little on the go or at home work out
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
A note about operation of the ankle straps: you have to open them up and turn them so the scratchy Velcro is on the outside away from your skin…place the ring where you want it, wrap the remaining strap around your leg and then thread the strap through the ring and pull snug before securing the Velcro.

This way it will stay on no matter what weight you use. I promise…I use A LOT of weight for leg training.

I have been involved in health and fitness for over 20 years as a Body Builder, Body Sculptor, Trainer, Therapist, Coach and many other positions in the field. I am currently the Director of Personal Success Now.

I bought this to check it out – to determine if it was a good option for some of my clients who do not want to go to the gym. I also travel and wanted some way to ensure I would have the ability to work out anywhere.

Finally, no more work outs with a towel for resistance!!

This little gym in a bag is great. It comes in a small bag and is very light. It comes with a poster or book demonstrating possible workouts and it comes with a DVD (or CD) that describes and demonstrates workout possibilities. You can play this CD as a “trainer” or view the exercises singly.

The DVD takes you through a very good core performance, functional workout and contains some excellent information on nutrition.

You get the aforementioned ankle straps, handles, and a door anchor. You also get a 5, 10, and 15 pound cable. The weight range is 5 to 30 pounds in 5-pound increments by combining the cables. The handles are comfortable and the cables hook and unhook very easily.

The possible weight/cable combinations look like this:

    5 / 10 / 15 / 20=15+5 / 25=15+10 / 30=15+10+5

Additional cables are only $4 from the company…note: if you need more weight, you only need to get another heavy cable…because you can create any combination up to 45 pounds in 5 pound increments with only the 1 additional cable.

Combinations from 35 to 45 pounds look like this:

    35=15+15+5 / 40=15+15+10 / 45=15+15+10+5

Every time you need more weight, you only need another 15-pound cable.

The weights discussed above represent the resistance for each hand. So, doing curls with the heavy cable is like curling 15 pounds in each hand.

I highly recommend this as an at-home and on the go training tool!

For safety – Always check your cables for wear before working out. Always make sure the door anchor is secure in the door and the door is closed and LOCKED before training with the door anchor. Always warm up before your workout. Always warm down and do flexibility movements after your workout.

There are down-loadable sheets for “tone and shape” and for “muscle and strength” 12-week workouts.

    gofit.net/prod/progym.html

Eat right for you. Take your vitamin. Get enough sleep. Drink your water. Avoid artificial- colors, flavors, and preservatives in your diet. Laugh often…and live well!

One final note to update this review – in 5 months of using the ProGym, I have lost 10 pounds of fat and gained over 20 pounds of muscle.

    Wishing you Personal Success Now!

    Poor Quality, Poor Design
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought my Go Fit product at a local store, used them three times, and I returned them. I am comparing this Go Fit product to the resistance bands that I have borrowed from a friend which are the B-Lines bands that Beach Body sells.

I did not like the Go Fit bands. First, they are cheap. The rubber used feels cheap. It also slipped beneath my shoes. Second, the design was lacking. I think the concept of being able to connect the bands to create a variety of resistance is great, BUT…the adapters used to connect the bands would scratch up my arms when I did any exercise that required my arms over my head.

With all that said, I’d recommend spending the money on better quality bands. I know that I will be purchasing a different set.

The equipment itself is great, but the DVD is terrible, it goes through all the exercises but very quickly not giving you enough time between the different activities to adjust the equipment, it also does not give great instruction to begin with, but the booklet is pretty good and much easier to use, but other than that I’ve been very happy with the kit

These are great bands. I would use them as alternatives to dumbbells. I’m using both currently depending on the exercise I’m doing. Nice thing is they are safe and easy to put away. I wouldn’t recommend the DVD as it only shows you what exercises you can do, but used in conjunction with something like the Power 90 In-Home Boot Camp or P90X is perfect.

This product is good for excercising arms and other parts of the trunk. But the leg straps donot work!

Mine unstrap and fly off even on the lowest resistence on the 2nd rep of the excercise!

Unless you would like to tie them with another string or use a band instead these may not work. I almost broke my glass door the first time I tried it.

I would suggest the manufacturer to use a better locking system to secure the leg straps.

Great portable gym. Mine broke a snap after one week but I repaired it with some wire. It was kinda my fault, I was using it outside in 30 degree weather and it was too cold for the plastic. I think the quality is great and I like that you get 3 different bands that can be combined for a total weight of 30 pounds, and it comes with a door anchor.

    Complete garbage.
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This product is complete garbage! When I took it out of the box I realized its cheap quality immediately. The hooks that connect the bands to the handles are made out of cheap plastic that would, no doubt, easily break during regular use. The green band broke during my first use! I’m not even in shape and I broke it. This is a very poor quality product. How would this product hold up if someone were to use it regularly to get in shape? It wouldn’t. Don’t buy this product you are wasting your money. I used it for a day and it broke and I had to return it. What a waste! IT’S GARBAGE!

happy with the gear but not the instructions
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I just got this and found these changes from the

    product description:

    1. Instead of a workout poster I got a booklet with

photos of the routines, but no instruction on using

the gear or doing the routines. It’s mainly a

reminder for the routines you learn on the DVD.

Suggested improvement: information from the DVD

should also be in this booklet.

    2. Lynda Leene is not on the DVD I got. Instead,

Jacqueline modeled the routines while a coach did

all the talking. Suggested improvement: show how to

assemble the gear and use a real door.

I’m happy with the gear but the educational material

    needs improvement.

    Garbage. Seek a different brand.
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I purchased these bands one month ago and during the first week one of the bands snapped at the plastic end leaving me with two bands. I was still able to do some exercises with the remaining two bands however today, one month into using them, a second band snapped in the same spot and I am now left with one band which is not useful for any exercise. This is my first set of workout bands and use them at my office but I caution anyone looking to purchase these to seek another brand as these are trash. Waste of money.

    great travel workout
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Even without the DVD, this is a steal. It’s easy to pack and take with you, even in a carry-on back. Has been really great for me as I travel all the time. I was pretty amazed at how much I could do with this. It really is a full body workout. Between this and the usual body weight exercises, like pushups and dips, you can get a really good workout regardless of where you are. This has been a really good investment for me.

This set fits in my travel bag and goes to work with me every day. Perfect set for on the go, on the spot resistance training anytime anywhere. One real good thing about this set is that it has all the different strengths that you can combine, as well as the ankle and the door adapters. Love anything that makes my life that much easier.

    Great Fitness Bands, So-So DVD
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I ordered this product to add more variety and challenge to my toning workouts. Fitness bands are particularly great for women, who may want to gain muscle strength without bulking up. This product comes with three fitness bands of varying resistance. I was pretty surprised how hard some of the exercises were even with the lightest resistance band–but they all felt good and gave me a challenge. I really loved the accessories the bands came with–a door strap and ankle straps. With the door strap you put it in the door frame and close the door, then loop the band through it. If you put the door strap at the top of the door or at shoulder level, there are many excellent shoulder exercises you can do. You can also put it lower in the door frame to do exercises sitting, or lying down. If you exchange the handles for the ankle straps, you can work your leg muscles, also using the door strap.

The only thing I didn’t really like was the DVD. It was definitely helpful the first time I used the bands–showing a variety of exercises and correct form for each one. But, you can’t really use it from start to finish for your workout. The instructor only demonstrates how to do the exercises–she doesn’t lead you through doing them on each side of the body, etc, for a full workout. Also, you frequently have to change to and from the door strap and ankle straps, which takes about 30 seconds, so you have to pause the DVD between most exercises, which is kind of annoying after a few times. Luckily, the kit also comes with a poster that shows all of the exercises and explains good form on each, so that is helpful for everyday use.

This is a great kit for travelers. You can just bring the one resistance band you’re using at the moment, the accessories, and the poster, if you need it.

    Great Home or Travel Workout!
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I love this resistance band set. It has everything you need to use the bands in as many ways as possible! I love that you can increase the resistance either by switching bands or by using several bands simultaneously. The door attachment works great too! The only reason I rated it a 4 is because I wish the ankle straps had some cushioning. It’s a quick fix though! I just wrap a long sock around my ankle then wrap the ankle strap around that. It works like a charm. I highly encourage you to purchase this set for a great home/travel workout!

The progym appears to be that it will ultimately suit my needs. The main reason I ordered this kit was that it included ankle cuffs. Those provided in the kit that I received were either defective or a poor product design. Using the lightest weight tubing (5#) the cuff does not stay attached and pulls apart. I have contacted Gofit and am waiting for a response and that they will replace the non-sticking cuffs that I received. The foam handles are great. I prefer using the exercises in the Thera-Band Resistance Band & Tubing Instruction Manual. The DVD is okay but the intended use for this kit is an adjunct to physical therapy and the DVD is more gym/fitness oriented. It has been some time since I contacted progym. The ankle cuffs have not been replaced…therefore, I must use them cautiously until I can find a substitute. The ankle cuffs on ripcords are fantastic but are not interchangeable with progym

Can I rate these less than one star?
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought these bands and used them for the first time today. After 45 minutes of using the red band it snapped during, what I would consider was, a normal exercise. I would not recommend that anyone use or buy this product as it could have been incredibly dangerous. My chiseled upper body is going to have to wait as any efforts I would normally put towards exercising are now being channeled to bringing Amazon.com to it’s knee’s and/or getting my money refunded – whichever comes first.

Do not buy this piece of rubbish if you are at all concerned about minor things like stereoscopic vision, a scar free face, or getting value for hard earned money. I very likely flew through a thunderstorm to earn the cash to buy this product and I resent the fact that I endured more danger doing a simple arm exercise than I did landing in heavy rain and fog.

Now I am a firm believer
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Before I actually used the Ultimate Progym in a bag. I believed that the only way one can effectively do resistance training is with a good set of weights or use the professional equipment in a gym. Well in my case desperate times call for desperate measures. I have been on the road for work during the past year and could not make use of my gym membership. The workout equipment available to me was questionable. So I decided to try this product thinking that at least I would be doing something. Well not only was I doing something, I was doing a lot of something. By using this equipment and eating right I lost 30 lbs in 5 months. These tubes are awesome! I can do just about any exercise I could do with free weights. The best part is that I can work my body to failure without the fear of dropping the bar on myself. My experience with the company has also been excellent, when a band snap after some over use, they replaced it for me for free. I was considering buying a high priced body weight machine but after using these tubes those machines are not worth it. The only critism I have is that I cannot buy an additional 20 lb tube. If they made a 20 lb clip on tube this product would be perfect. I highly recommend it.

The DVD has in a very good core performance, functional workout and some excellent information on nutrition. (The CD features Trainer and Fitness Model Linda Leene, and describes and demonstrates workout possibilities. You can play this CD as a “trainer” or view the exercises singly)

    35=15+15+5 / 40=15+15+10 / 45=15+15+10+5

For the first two months, these cords worked great. Then, the green band (15 lb) band broke, and I have been relegated to using the blue and red together, just to get to 15 lb, and I can’t go higher. Good design on the bands, easy to switch the weight, but the quality really brings down the value. I would recommend going a different direction, especially if you are looking to use these a lot.

Also, just for kicks, I watched the DVD, and it was pretty bad. I bought these for use with a different workout, but the DVD is bad. I would not even think about using it.
